This article contains spoilers for "The Mandalorian."
Even before the credits rolled on "The Mandalorian" season 3's fourth episode, "Chapter 20: The Foundling," I had a strong inkling of who'd worked on it. Much like he did when he called the shots on season 2's "The Siege," co-star Carl Weathers stepped behind the camera this week to deliver some muscular (if noticeably Volume-y) action in a tightly-wound package. Similarly, the whole heroes-on-a-rescue-mission storyline felt very much like a Jon Favreau special. And, of course, who else but Favreau's writing partner in crime here, Dave Filoni, would combine themes about the duality of nature with an Order 66 flashback in the same episode?
The longer I dwelled on it, though, the more I realized "The Foundling" brought something else to my mind: the Ewok movies. Yes, those Ewok movies.
For those not familiar (i.e. for all you younglings out there):...

It takes audacity for an actress to play a high school teacher who grooms her student, but it’s someone such as Kate Mara who embraces the challenge to meticulously play such knotty femmes with no sweat results. Mara portrays such a protagonist – or antagonist depending on how you view it, which only underscores her canniness with her craft—in FX’s Hannah Fidell limited series A Teacher, which follows the build-up and fallout of a scandalous affair between an older woman and her pupil. It’s a more-often-than not scandal that has frequented headlines since the 1990s with such teachers as Pamela Smart and the late Mary Kay Letourneau, and it’s an arresting subject to cover in the throes of #MeToo. Mara brings a subtle sympathy to the intricacies of Claire Wilson, forcing viewers to ponder who’s guiltier: The predator or the prey? A Teacher is another...

Consider This: Conversations highlight television’s award-worthy productions through panel discussions with the artists themselves. The above video is in partnership by FX, produced by IndieWire’s Creative Producer Leonardo Adrian Garcia, and hosted by Libby Hill.
There’s something so seductive about second chances. Who among us hasn’t looked at a decision we’ve made or a path we’ve chosen and wondered what would have happened if we’d gone a different way? If we could go back and have a do over, knowing now what we could never have known then.
This is not necessarily what Hannah Fidell was thinking when making the FX on Hulu limited series “A Teacher,” an adaptation of her eponymous feature film released seven years earlier. But even though that wasn’t the intent, it was still the opportunity, and judging from the significant changes between the two works, the writer...

Although television — and Hollywood in general — has made great strides in recent years when it comes to depictions of female consent and sexual assault, it still seemed rare to see the same conversations being had on screen when it comes to male characters.
This television season feels different.
In the seventh episode of the fourth season of Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale,” Elisabeth Moss’ June — flush with power after seemingly vanquishing her enemy, Yvonne Strahovski’s Serena — awakens her sleeping husband (O-t Fagbenle’s Luke), mounts him and proceeds to have sex with him. After he tells her to wait, she holds down his hands and covers his mouth.
In Netflix’s “Bridgerton,” Phoebe Dynevor’s Daphne is desperate to procreate despite her husband, Simon’s (Regé-Jean Page), wishes and uses her just-gleaned rudimentary knowledge of conception to perform a similar sexual act. Afterward, Simon is so uncomfortable and traumatized...

This year’s Best Limited Series/TV Movie Actress field at the Golden Globes is insanely crowded. Among the actresses in contention are past champs Cate Blanchett (“Mrs. America”), Nicole Kidman (“The Undoing”), Octavia Spencer (“Self Made”) and Reese Witherspoon (“Little Fires Everywhere”), past nominees Michelle Dockery (“Defending Jacob”) and Kerry Washington (“Little Fires Everywhere”), and up-and-comers Michaela Coel (“I May Destroy You”), Shira Haas (“Unorthodox”), Daisy Edgar-Jones (“Normal People”) and Anya Taylor-Joy (“The Queen’s Gambit”). Amid this uber-stacked field, I urge you, dear Globe voter, not to forget about Kate Mara, who deserves her inaugural nom for her revelatory turn on FX/Hulu’s “A Teacher.”

Nick Robinson was forecast to snag his career-first Golden Globe Award nomination for 2018’s coming-of-age dramedy film “Love, Simon” in comedy/musical actor, but he ended up missing out. Now, he is giving it another go, this time in the limited series/TV movie actor category for FX/Hulu’s miniseries “A Teacher,” which features an awards-worthy performance from the actor.
Robinson, 25, has naturally played a row of teenagers in his career thus far — most recently, of course, in “Love, Simon” — but his turn as 17-year-old Eric Walker in “A Teacher” boasts one of his most dramatic undertakings thus far. Based on series creator Hannah Fidell‘s 2013 film of the same name, the 10-part series explores the relationship between Eric and his 32-year-old high school English teacher Claire Wilson (Kate Mara) over the span of 11 years — covering everything from the genesis of their affair, to its fallout, to its complete fracture.

Kate Mara-fronted drama A Teacher, which is based on Hannah Fidell’s feature film, has become FX on Hulu’s most-watched original – surpassing Mrs. America and Devs.
FX revealed that the series, which also stars Nick Robinson, also attracted more new subscribers to the digital service than the period drama and the sci-fi thriller.
However, the company didn’t disclose any actual viewing figures or substantial numbers – the latest digital platform to laud the success of a series without providing in-depth data.
It said that the ten-part series ranked as the number one show on Hulu for five of the eight weeks of its run.
Its audience was 42% higher than comedy Dave, which was FX’s most-watched show on Hulu and the highest rated comedy series in FX history.

Saturday Night Live cast members Ego Nwodim, Andrew Dismukes and host Kristen Wiig took shots at FX’s teacher-student drama A Teacher with a parody season two trailer.
In the SNL teaser, Dismukes takes on Nick Robinson’s Eric Walker, who has an illicit affair with his high school teacher (Kate Mara). Instead of staying after class to seduce his instructor, Dismukes’ Nick is met with a reluctant teacher, played by Nwodim.
“Miss Williams, I can’t stop thinking of you,” Dismukes tells his fellow SNL cast member.
However, his high school teacher doesn’t share the same feelings as Nwodim says “Why? I stop thinking of y’all the minute you walk out of this classroom.”
While Dismukes’ character is reluctant to take his teacher’s criticism and disgust as an answer, Kristen Wiig appears as the school principal. Upon entering the classroom, Wiig angrily inquires whether the teacher is pursuing her student,...

Well, it finally happened, just like we knew it would.
After five episodes of nothing making sense and the series dragging its feet before getting to the good stuff, the end of A Teacher Season 1 Episode 5 was such a relief.
Now, the real entertainment can begin.
While we knew Claire and Eric's secret affair would leak at some point, can we take a second to talk about the idiocy that is Claire?
Why in the world did she think it would be a good idea to cop to having an affair with her student?
Like, I'm curious about her mental stability more so than before.
Rule No. 1 of committing a crime is that you don't reveal that you've committed one.
Her telling Kathryn is akin to a murderer confessing on the witness stand or moving the body.
It's just something you don't do because you're bound to get caught.

The premise of FX on Hulu's A Teacher reads like a true-crime documentary case: the new miniseries tells the story of a female high school teacher caught in an inappropriate sexual and romantic relationship with her male student at a suburban Texas high school. Breaking down the rise and aftermath of the affair, the show features Kate Mara as English teacher Claire Wilson and Nick Robinson as senior student Eric Walker in those respective roles. But is A Teacher based on a true story? The straightforward answer is no. Still, the teacher-student relationship is not only a prevalent TV trope, but it's also an all too familiar crime that has made real headlines.
The series is based on the 2013 indie drama of the same name written and directed by Hannah Fidell, who also created and directed the new miniseries. Unlike the film, the FX project will not only show the predatory relationship unfolding,...

It's a tale as old as time: Boy meets girl. Boy likes girl. Boy tries to get with girl. Girl is actually boy's teacher.
A Teacher is nothing new; there have been dozens of student-teacher affairs portrayed on the never-ending supply of teen dramas.
These sultry and soapy affairs never end well -- well, rarely, sans Ezria from Pretty Little Liars -- yet they can be deliciously fun to watch.
There's something seductive about forbidden love lust, but whether it's the changing times or the limited series' poor execution, the first three episodes are a grind to get through.
The main problem is pacing.
Maybe, this doesn't work in a binge-watching capacity, but the supposed attraction between leading characters Kata Mara's Claire Wilson and Nick Robinson's Eric Walker feels forced.
Claire: Where were you? I waited in the diner for like 45 minutes.
Eric: Oh shit. I’m sorry. I totally forgot.
