Now that she’s finished her stint helping Michael Shannon cause trouble for Henry Cavill in Man Of Steel, Antje Traue is sticking with powered people, and has signed on to the cast of The Seventh Son.She’ll join Ben Barnes, Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore and Alicia Vikander in the tale of a teenager (Barnes) who, being the seventh son of a seventh son, finds he has the power to become a wizard. He gets his instruction from a forbidding spook (Bridges) and is soon learning what he needs to know to fight “The Dark”, including some particularly nasty witches. The story was adapted from Joseph Delaney’s book The Spook’s Apprentice, the first novel in his Wardstone Chronicles series.Sergey Bodrov is directing and now that the film has made its way through the tricky minefield of casting (Sam Claflin was originally supposed to play the hero,...

The boys over at Cinemablend decided to take photos of the concept art on display at the San Diego Comic-Con panel for upcoming Warner Bros. films (you know, the panel for three non-comic films that aren't even shot yet). One of the two projects is Alex Proyas' Paradise Lost, the Bradley Cooper-starrer that will be shot using motion capture technology. The project tells the story of the epic war in heaven between archangels Michael and Lucifer, and will be crafted as an action vehicle that will include aerial warfare, possibly shot in 3D. Inside you'll find the concept art featuring some of the rough terrains being conceptualized. Also shared with the Comic-Con audience was art for Sergei Bodrov's The Seventh Son, starring Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, Ben Barnes and Alicia Vikander. Barnes will star as "Tom Ward"....

Hollywood: traveling at the speed of awesome.
Why, just yesterday, we were stoked to tell you all about the casting rumors for "The Seventh Son," the young adult horror film being adapted from the popular novel "The Spook's Apprentice" by author Joseph Delany. But before we could even start arguing with each other on the internet about who should get the lead roles, Warner Bros. has gone ahead and actually cast them.
Where's the fun in that?
Anyway, at least now we can start getting pumped for the movie, because Variety is reporting that Sam Claflin will be playing main character Tom Ward, with Alicia Vikander in line to play his sometimes partner Alice.
"The Spook's Apprentice," of course, is the first volume in "The Wardstone Chronicles," a series of novels detailing the apprenticeship of Tom, a seventh son of a seventh son who begins fighting evil under the tutelage...

Horror flicks are hot these days, and perhaps none is sizzling more than "The Seventh Son," which tells the story of a young boy training to be an exorcist—who runs into a spot of trouble when he's tricked into releasing the most evil witch in the world.
With the iconic Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore (unofficially) on board, it's no surprise that young Hollywood is clamoring to snap up the other lead roles.
So, which up-and-coming stars are we talking about exactly?
For the part of Tom Ward, the aforementioned exorcist-in-training, the short list includes Sam Claflin ("The Pillars of the Earth"), Caleb Landry-Jones ("Friday Night Lights") and James Frecheville ("Animal Kingdom").
For Alice, whom we're betting is Tom's partner-in-crime/ love interest, the list is even longer — Imogen Poots ("Jane Eyre"), Felicity Jones ("Chalet Girl"), Alicia Vikander ("Beloved"), Gabrielle Wild ("Approaching Midnight") and Dianna Agron ("Glee") are all gunning for the role.

The last time we reported on the forthcoming young adult novel adaptation The Seventh Son it was called The Last Apprentice, and rising star Alex Pettyfer had reportedly ditched another project in order to lead the cast that was also set to include Jeff Bridges and Jennifer Lawrence. A month and a half later, a whole lot has changed. Bloody Disgusting reports that Lawrence is out thanks to her new role in The Hunger Games, Pettyfer is out for other reasons (maybe he's gotten the other role in The Hunger Games he was offered), but Julianne Moore has signed on. Still hanging in there is Bridges, who will reportedly play Exorcist Master Gregory, better known as "The Spook." Moore will be joining him in dabbling with the supernatural, playing the sinister witch Mother Malkin. At some point they'll cast another actor as Tom Ward, the boy who trains with Bridges's...

The race for the next big young adult fantasy franchise is in full swing, and one team just nabbed the A-List gravitas of Jeff Bridges.
According to Just Jared, the Oscar-winning actor has joined a big screen version of “The Seventh Son,” based on the novel “The Last Apprentice” by Joseph Delaney. “Number Four” Alex Pettyfer and Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence are in talks to join him.
Bridges will play The Spook, a warrior of dark magic who takes on Tom Ward (potentially Pettyfer) as an apprentice and teaches him how to fight off ghosts, witches and the like. If all is right in the world, Bridges will end up growing a beard crazier and more mangled than his “Tron Legacy” look.
So far, the “Wardstone Chronicle” stories span eight books, but whether Bridges is in for the long-haul or there for a boost of star power necessary to launch the franchise is unknown.

When you’ve recently starred in two movies that were major studio releases and just got your second consecutive Oscar nomination for Best Actor, what’s the best course of action to take? If you’re Jeff Bridges, it’s joining the film version of the first book (Revenge of the Witch) in the popular children’s book series The Last Apprentice, titled The Seventh Son.
The story follows a young man named Tom Ward (a role that Alex Pettyfer has been offered) who’s training to be an exorcist. He has the benefit of being able to see and hear ghosts, as well as “smell the presence of death,” whatever that may mean. The plot description of the novel mentions a “tall, hooded man called Spook,” (The original, non-American book title is The Spook’s Apprentice) which is the part I presume Bridges is taking on. Jennifer Lawrence, who...

Fans always want to compare any exorcism film to The Exorcist and with The Seventh Son being based off a young adult series it remains to be seen just how much demonic possession fans will get. A one-time cow town, oil town, and even a tent city (when it was founded during the 1889 land rush), Oklahoma City is urgently trying to reinvent itself as the next big city in America. If "America is the Saudi Arabia of natural gas," as T. Boone Pickens puts it, then Oklahoma City is its Riyadh. It's home to three of the largest independent producers--Chesapeake, Devon, and Sandridge--which are helping to underwrite its urban ambitions.
This afternoon, Sandridge will unveil an over $100 million expansion of its downtown headquarters across three city blocks. The plans include a renovated 1960s tower by architect Pietro Belluschi, a restored Braniff Building--built in 1923 by the brothers who started their namesake airline--and a public park recycled from a pair of windswept plazas. The New York-based architecture firm of Rogers Marvel will incorporate features like green roofs, native plantings, and storm-water management to meet Leed standards. Sandridge, which...
