The Veronica Mars spinoff, Play It Again, Dick, almost didn't happen. The CW Seed web series reunites the VMars cast and follows Ryan Hansen as he tries to get a spinoff of Veronica Mars following his character Dick Casablancas off the ground at the CW. The eight-episode series, sort of a meta comedy, features all your favorites playing fictionalized versions of themselves and of their Veronica Mars characters. We'll see Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring, Chris Lowell, Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs III, Daran Norris, Francis Capra, Kyle Gallner, Christopher B. Duncan, Ryan Devlin (as Duncan Kane), Ken Marino, Amanda Noret and Lisa Thornhill. Rob Thomas even drafted his iZombie stars Robert Buckley and Rose McIver for Play It...

While fans patiently wait to see if Veronica Mars will actually get another movie, creator Rob Thomas is giving us an interesting and fun looking spin-off series to watch called Play it Again, Dick. It's definitely a meta approach, as it centers on Veronica Mars actor Ryan Hansen as he tries to convince his series co-stars to help get a spin-off for his character Dick Casablancas into development.
Joining Hansen is Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring, and Amanda Noret. It will also include appearances by Enrico Colantoni (Keith Mars), Percy Daggs III (Wallace Fennel), Ken Marino (Vinnie), Daran Norris (Cliff McCormack), Francis Capra (Weevil), Kyle Gallner (Beaver), and Chris Lowell (Piz).

The "Veronica Mars" cast is reuniting for Rob Thomas's previously-announced meta-spinoff "Play It Again, Dick." With filming on the eight-episode web series now complete, Buzzfeed has revealed that all your favorite stars from the cult-favorite Upn detective show are set to reprise their "Veronica Mars" roles in the spinoff alongside lead star Ryan Hansen, who will play both a fictionalized version of himself and his "Veronica Mars" character Dick Casablancas. "Play It Again, Dick's" meta conceit will see Hansen attempting to capitalize on his "Veronica Mars" fame (and current Kickstarter-funded revival) by creating a spinoff series entitled "Play It Again, Dick," in which Kristen Bell (playing a "skewed" version of herself) has begrudgingly agreed to reprise her role as Veronica. Also on board for the series are a host of "Veronica Mars" cast members including: Jason Dohring as Logan Echolls and Jason Dohring Percy Daggs III as Wallace Fennel...

On March 13, 2013, Kristen Bell and Rob Thomas asked Veronica Mars fans if they’d like to see the gone-too-soon TV series hit the big screen. Just one day shy of a year later, that film became a reality at Wednesday night’s Hollywood premiere of Veronica Mars at the Tcl Chinese Theatre.
While the path from cult TV show to Kickstarter-backed film might have seemed far-fetched, Bell never had any doubt that the movie, in theaters Friday, would be made. “I felt in my bones that there would be some incarnation of her,” Bell said on the red carpet of her teenage private eye.

Seven years after the programme finished, Veronica Mars will be making her big screen debut this year in the anticipated and long-awaited feature film.
Following an incredibly successful Kickstarter campaign last year, shooting began over the summer, and the first trailer was launched at the start of the year. And now, following yesterday’s announcement that the film will have its world premiere out in Austin at SXSW, the first poster has debuted over on Yahoo Movies.
Years after walking away from her past as a teenage private eye, Veronica Mars gets pulled back to her hometown, an ex-boyfriend with baggage, and an unraveling murder mystery.
Kristen Bell of course reprises her eponymous leading role, with Enrico Colantoni, Jason Dohring, Tina Majorino, Percy Daggs III, Chris Lowell, Sam Huntington, Amanda Noret, Daran Norris, Gaby Hoffman, Martin Starr, and Ken Marino joining her for the ride.

According to Zap2it, James Franco has joined the cast of the Veronica Mars movie.
According to their source, Franco will appear as himself in the film. "He'll be one of several celebrities in the movie who have been victims of a hidden camera scam. No, not like on 'Duped!' -- one of those reality shows where people get duped into doing stupid things like giving some stranger their car or a bunch of money. But the kind of scam where someone hides cameras in famous people's houses and tries to sell the videos."
Sounds like the perfect case for Veronica to take on. I imagine Franco's role in the story won't be very big, but it's cool that he's going to be a part of it.

Before she was the titular "B" in Apartment 23 and Jesse Pinkman's girlfriend Jane in Breaking Bad, Krysten Ritter played the recurring role of Gia Goodman in the second season of Veronica Mars. A little bit flaky and a lot adorable, Ritter's Gia brought style and some much needed perkiness to Season 2, in addition to being an in for Veronica to snoop around Steve Guttenberg's Woody Goodman when the need arose. Ritter is the latest to join the cast of the Veronica Mars movie, which is just finishing up pre-production. Who is the latest familiar face flocking to the Veronica Mars film project? We have a little lady to report on this time. Its actress Tina Majorino. Talk about familiar. Majorino is very recognizable, and not just because of her stint on the youthful crime series. But we sure are happy to announce the return of her character Cindy “Mac” Mackenzie none the less.

The Neptune reunion is almost complete! Tina Majorino has signed on for the "Veronica Mars" movie, reprising her role as Veronica's (Kristen Bell) best friend and hacker genius Cindy “Mac” Mackenzie.
“I really wanted Tina in 'Veronica Mars,'" creator Rob Thomas wrote in an email to the film’s Kickstarter backers. "To say I wrote Mac with Tina in mind would be an understatement. I wrote Mac for Tina, and Tina only. Veronica needed a female friend, and a Q to her Bond. Tina felt like just the sort of girl that Veronica would like and respect. I couldn’t be more pleased that she’ll be with us for the movie.”

The Oscar-winning actress would play the part of Miss Hannigan, the cruel, often drunk head of the orphanage that houses Annie (Beasts of the Southern Wild’s Quvenzhané Wallis). Carol Burnett played the role in John Huston’s 1982 version of the musical. The cast of the "Veronica Mars" movie is growing by the day. Three more returning stars have confirmed they'll be back for the upcoming film: Daran Norris (Cliff McCormack), Amanda Noret (Madison Sinclair) and Sam Huntington (Luke Haldeman).
Norris, who played lovable public defender and Mars family friend Cliff, has known "Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas since he was three. The actor made an adorable video (below) announcing his return for the movie in a full white wig and beard. Norris delivered the inaccurate information that the show would be set 40 years after the series ended and then went on to spew a series of incorrect plot points -- Cliff marries Veronica, Cliff becomes president, Cliff undergoes sexual reassignment surgery and is now Clara McCormack -- before getting real with the fans.

The "Veronica Mars" movie is a reality thanks to an unprecedented Kickstarter fundraising campaign, and the show's creator Rob Thomas was on hand at the recent Atx Television Festival (alongside star Chris Lowell) to discuss how the crowd-funded movie came together, despite the odds.
While Thomas reiterated much of the information we've already heard about the "Veronica Mars" movie -- which raised almost $6 million via Kickstarter in April -- Thomas' panel did offer fascinating insight into the unfamiliar process of producing a crowd-sourced film. Read on for Thomas' thoughts on satisfying fans who also have a financial stake in the project, how actors' availability affected the script and the latest on that "Party Down" movie. (Questions have been edited and condensed for clarity.)
Will the movie be restricted by traditional studio rules in terms of deals and distribution?

These days, Sam Huntington can be found on the Syfy channel, battling his growly inner urges as a werewolf on the U.S. remake of Being Human, but once upon a time, about five minutes (give or take a year or two) before he played Jimmy Olsen in Superman Returns, he appeared in Veronica Mars. He reunited with Kristen Bell years later for Fanboys and it looks like he'll be reuniting with her again on the big screen, as he's set to reprise his role as the drug-running, baseball collecting Luke in the anticipated film. Also signed on for the Veronica Mars movie is Amanda Noret, who played Dick's once girlfriend and Neptune High's Queen Bee (and all-around B) Madison Sinclair. Amanda Noret and Sam Huntington will return for the Veronica Mars movie.
The pair will reprise their roles as Madison Sinclair and Luke Haldeman in the Kickstarter-funded project, reports ComicBook.com.
"After being a stay-at-home mum for the last four years (shout out to the other mamas out there), I'm so excited for the chance to be Madison again," said Noret.
"I love my kids more than anything, but now that I've been a mum, there's something even more exciting about getting to play Madison, who is just so super-focused only on herself. (Plus, you just know she's been waiting for this reunion, right?)"
"I can honestly say that Veronica Mars changed my life," added Huntington. "Not only did I make friends that have become some of my dearest, but it helped me discover my true passion: drug running.
"Yup. Just running steroids to and from Mexico. So there's that.

Creator/writer Rob Thomas has started leaking "Veronica Mars" movie tidbits to Kickstarter backers -- first there were some early photos of Jason Dohring as Logan Echolls, when Thomas announced that Dohring has officially signed on for the movie.
Now he has released the above piece of script, which features Madison Sinclair sparring with Veronica -- and two smaller roles, "Vapid Tool" and "Steroid Cautionary Tale." Hee. We also can completely see Madison being in charge of the reunion (or at least helping organize it). We wonder how many Pirate Points she gets for that?
Fingers crossed Amanda Noret is returning as Madison. She was a fun character to hate.
Thomas also writes that Friday, April 5 will feature a longer update on the progress of the movie and he encourages people to follow @veronicamars on Twitter, which is the new official Twitter account of the movie.

Getting news on the Veronica Mars movie project is all about being on the internet at the right time but we’ve got some fun new details on the evolving film.
In case you needed an update, the Veronica Mars Movie Kickstarter campaign is a little over a week old and has raised over $3,750,000, thanks to over 57,000 backers. The question now is not if the film will raise double of its initial budget of $2 million, but how much more can it raise? $5 million? The pace has slowed down but who knows what Rob Thomas, Kristen Bell and the rest of the crew have in store. It’s seriously become the most addictive telethon ever.
The response has been overwhelming for everyone involved with Vm and numbers are being crunched because creator Rob Thomas has already started talking about whether or not this movie will be the last we’re going to see of Veronica.

TV bosses behind Australia's Next Top Model have apologised to the show's host Sarah Murdoch after confessing a "human error" was to blame for her embarrassing wrong-winner announcement.
The blonde beauty, who appeared in hit sitcom Friends and 2001 movie Head Over Heels with Freddie Prinze, Jr., announced wannabe model Kelsey Martinovich as the winner during the show's finale last week (begs27Sep10).
But during Martinovich's acceptance speech, producers informed the host there had been a mistake and she was forced to interrupt and reveal the real winner was fellow finalist Amanda Ware, before making a cringing apology.
Now chiefs at the Aussie series' production company have said sorry themselves for giving the wrong information to Murdoch through her ear-piece - but deny reports the mishap was a publicity stunt.
Brian Walsh, director of TV at Foxtel network, says, "We have confirmed that the fault was a human communications error to the host Sarah Murdoch and that an assumption had been made by the producer which has now shown to be incorrect.
"Live television can be unpredictable and people can be forgiven for making a mistake.
"What isn't acceptable, though, is any suggestion that the host, Sarah Murdoch, was at fault or that this was a publicity stunt. Nothing could be further from the truth and we apologise to Sarah for any embarrassment it and the subsequent publicity has caused her."...

The Australia’s Next Top Model finale has made headlines today in the northern hemisphere – not because of the models themselves, but because of Sarah Murdoch, the host of the reality TV show, who announced that the winner was Kelsey Martinovich. Only problem was, the actual winner was Amanda Ware, the other finalist. The mistaken announcement happened on live television, with millions and millions of viewers watching. Here’s how it went down: Murdoch was given some information from one of the producers, via an earpiece she was wearing. She announced Martinovich as the winner, and then after a few moments of tearful celebration, Sarah Murdoch gasped, the entire audience fell silent, and suddenly she made the painful announcement that there had been a “miscommunication” between her and the producer feeding her the information about the winner. She had announced the wrong name. Yikes. The rest was about as awkward as you can imagine.

London, Sep 29 – ‘Australia’s Next Top Model’ judge Alex Perry has said that Oz model Sarah Murdoch’s announcement of the wrong winner of the series was not a publicity stunt.
A major blunder happened when announcement of the model series winner was muddled, with Murdoch announcing Kelsey Martinovich had beaten fellow favourite Amanda Ware.
This has sparked outrage against ‘Australia’s Next Top Model’.
After a few seconds, a devastated Murdoch put a hand to her mouth and gasped: “Oh, I’m so sorry, Kelsey. There’s been a mistake.”
