- Bruce Welch was born on November 2, 1941 in Bognor Regis, Sussex, England, UK. He is an actor and composer, known for Top Secret! (1984), Primary Colors (1998) and Priscilla (2023).
- He was made an OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in the 2004 Queen's Birthday Honours List for services to Music.
- Richmond Upon Thames, Surrey, England
- Member of The Shadows with Hank Marvin, the backing band for Cliff Richard from 1958 to 1968. They also went on several reunion tours afterwards.
- He got started in the music business when he was still at school when he and Hank Marvin used to play in a Newcastle skiffle group called The Railroaders. With Hank he went to London to seek fame and fortune. After starving for months they played in coffee bars and got dates with a combo then a break as members of a group backing a young unknown Cliff Richard.
- On being awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience to come to the palace. I think it would have been nice to be the three of us (fellow Shadows member Hank Marvin declined his OBE for personal and professional reasons), but it is always a personal choice.
