The CW used to be the ideal network for soapy teen dramas, sci-fi vampires and werewolf series, and DC superhero shows.
Now, it's a disappointing shell of those days.
The Vampire Diaries premiered back in 2009 and led to two additional spinoffs, while DC's Arrow began in 2012 and also began a massive franchise.
The CW used to include soapy dramas or sci-fi series, such as Supernatural, which launched Jared Padalecki's career.
The CW has only four original series left, and Superman & Lois will air its final season in the fall.
All American and All American: Homecoming are all on the bubble, while Walker was canceled. It seems like The CW has changed its' identity, and it's not favorable.
We long to return to those glory days when The CW ruled TV fandoms.

The Arrow series is undoubtedly one of the best superhero Television series that became the originator of the Arrowverse. It revolves around Oliver Queen, a billionaire playboy who assumes the vigilante persona to fight crime and corruption in the city.
Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow
While avid fans are well aware that Stephen Amell became the face of the DC Comics character Green Arrow there, many would be surprised to know that Justin Hartley, who portrayed the character in Smallville, was never considered for the role in the Arrowverse.

Supernatural, by the CW, was one of a kind. As a long-running series, the show had the unique opportunity to flesh out characters and the overarching plot throughout 15 seasons.
The CW show amassed a loyal fanbase over the years, partly due to the stories they got a chance to tell. There was a certain novelty to the show, and the creators rarely veered off this path throughout its run.
Erick Kripke, the show’s creator, utilized the seasons to the best of their abilities, telling the stories that he wanted to. The 22-episode seasons also allowed him and his team to push the limits of their creative boundaries, and they delivered each time. Moreover, he was not above using his love for The X-Files on the show, and Kripke delivered one of its best episodes ever.

John Carpenter’s illustrious catalog of horror and non-horror classics has already seen three remakes, with at least one more kinda-sorta confirmed on the way (Escape from New York). If you consider 2011’s The Thing enough of a remake, notch another on the bedpost. It makes sense; Carpenter turned his no-bullshit attitude into a masterful filmmaking style, and those listed titles harbor nostalgic admiration. We’re probably closer than we think to seeing Bryan Fuller’s Christine remake for Blumhouse or a contemporary They Live, while Dwayne Johnson’s Big Trouble in Little China sequel project fades away. Imagine Julia Ducournau’s Christine should Fuller exit, or what about if James Gunn booked a brief horror vacation away from the Dceu for his take on They Live?
Carpenter’s brand of down-and-dirty storytelling mixed with societal commentaries make his works perfect for generational updates, but they can’t all be winners.

This article contains spoilers for Smallville.
There’s no doubt that Lois (Erica Durance) and Clark (Tom Welling) were the right endgame for Smallville. And not just because Lois and Clark almost always inevitably end up together. Their years of loathing turning to respect and then love makes for some great TV, and Durance and Welling’s chemistry is incredible. However, even though Smallville mostly hit the mark with Clark’s love-life by the end of the series, his first love, Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk), deserved so much better than the arc she was given.
By the time Clark and Lana get together in the series, Lana already knows that something is up with Clark. He’s somehow always there to save her when she’s in danger or just generally involved with all of the weird stuff going on in town. His farm boy charms also aren’t really...

“We had an opportunity to take the name of a beloved genre film brand, one we feel a personal connection to, for our new company,” says Zambeck. “This is a new venture, unaffiliated with any previous incarnations. We aim to honor the history and spirit of the past as we look for interesting films that break the mold, and will be discovered by new generations for years to come.”
In Lionsgate’s acquisition of Starz in December 2016, the studio absorbed the North American branches of Anchor Bay Entertainment. Prior to Leonine, Augsberger served 23 years as an advisor to Dr. Herbert Kloiber‘s Tele Muenchen Group as Tmg’s exclusive North American representative in the US.

“Chlois,” it turns out, was — for a hot second, and before Smallville was ever pitched as a series — more than just what would one day be a wild fan theory.
Back during the superhero drama’s run, “Chlois” was a theory that Chloe Sullivan (played by original cast member Allison Mack) would somehow, some way turn out to be the iconic Lois Lane — possibly by adopting “Lois Lane,” her onetime pseudonym, as a new identity (and by some accounts, gulp, in the wake of the real Lois’ demise).

Superman’s incredible 85-year history is defined with intricate detail and unique understanding by those who’ve known him best – the authors, artists, filmmakers, actors and experts tasked with propagating his legend through every medium – in the latest Edward Gross omnibus, Voices From Krypton, published by Nacelle Books. The hardcover book is now available via Amazon, online retailers and popular bookshops, with an e-book edition also available.
Hailed as the most comprehensive examination of Superman in history, Voices From Krypton begins in the mid 1930s with the character’s creation by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, and concludes with the announcement of the next big screen adventure, Superman: Legacy. Topics range from Superman’s appearances in different mediums to the individual actors who’ve played the character, from Superman’s Silver Age to present day iterations, and from the subtleties of capturing the Man of Steel to the tentpole moments of his past 85+ years.

Some movies build their premise around a true story and make it the central focus of their marketing. Ripped-from-the-headlines cinema is a genre all its own, and it has a dedicated fan base waiting for a more dramatic telling of real-life events. Other stories, however, aren’t so clearly connected to reality, leaving viewers wondering if what they watched was mined from the depths of the writer’s mind or taken from a true-to-life inspiration. In the case of 2003’s Cheaper by the Dozen, there’s a bit of both.
‘Cheaper by the Dozen’ was a remake
In 2003, Cheaper by the Dozen hit theaters. The film’s starring cast included comedy dynamo Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Hilary Duff, and Piper Perabo.
The film’s comedic charm tackles the challenges of a big family undergoing big changes. When Tom (Martin) and Kate (Hunt) suddenly have to navigate exploding career potential with their 12 children,...

As you’d expect, the internet went nuts recently with the news that James Gunn had found his Superman and Lois in David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan. Some of the comments were from people upset that Henry Cavill wouldn’t be returning to the role after his brief cameo in Black Adam, and others were grinding their personal axes, but most seemed pretty positive about the casting.
But if you pay attention, you’d notice a theme in the responses, best captured in this Reddit post:

Rest easy, the world is safe from evil henchmen once again. After an exhaustive search, Warner Bros. and DC Studios have finally settled on a new Superman. David Corenswet will be taking on his first major leading role as the Man of Steel in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy.
Superman’s leading lady Lois Lane will be played by Rachel Brosnahan, who is coming off the final season of her Amazon hit The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Corenswet has some big tights to fill in the role that has been played by a host of actors on film and TV … and radio.
The first Superman was voiced by veteran actor Bud Collyer on the Adventures of Superman radio show that aired from 1940 to 1951. Collyer also was the voice of Superman in the animated series Superman (1941-1943) and the New Adventures of Superman (1966-1970).

The Professionals series is an international production that was filmed overseas back in 2020 and was released in various countries over a year ago. If you're a big fan of DC Comics - and the movies and TV series inspired by them - it's a bit of a confusing time. DC Studios is still planning on releasing "The Flash," "Blue Beetle," and "Aquaman 2" this year, but after that, the universe is undergoing a bit of a hard reboot under the direction of new co-chair and CEO of DC Studios James Gunn.
Gunn - who also helmed the "Guardians of the Galaxy" films for Marvel - and Peter Safran joined the company as its new leaders in November 2022, and in January, they announced a new slate of film and TV projects they're calling "chapter one" of the new DC universe. Their plans include a movie titled "Superman: Legacy," which Gunn himself will be writing and directing. But some fans have worried that means a previously announced Superman movie from Ta-Nehisi Coates and J. J. Abrams won't be happening anymore.

Nowadays, depending on who you ask, some might argue there's no such thing as too many superhero movies -- Superman movies in particular. But back in the day (i.e. the 1970s), when mainstream superhero entertainment culture was far less prominent, they were perceived very differently. While some fans would do anything to watch Henry Cavill wear the cape as Kal-El and save Metropolis again, there was a time when the uncertainty surrounding the success of a Superman film was apparent. Specifically, Christopher Reeve, the late actor known for playing the third live-action Superman (Kirk Alyn and George Reeves portrayed the Man of Steel before him), wasn't convinced 1978's "Superman" would be a success. It took, quite literally, thousands of screaming fans to persuade him that the movie would work.

When the past returns, it’s always hard to tell if it’s going to be good or bad, but in the case of The Winchesters, it’s both.
Following Samuel's surprise return in the previous episode, on The Winchesters Season 1 Episode 8, Mary, John, and Millie watch over him, but different feelings arise while doing so.
Meanwhile, as Carlos and Lata investigate the death of a musician, someone from Carlos' past makes an appearance and causes trouble, but some familiar faces come back in unique ways.
With Samuel finally back, deep-rooted feelings are brought up, and it doesn’t help that he’s still in recovery.
Even though Gil McKinney reprised his role as Henry from Supernatural on The Winchesters Season 1 Episode 7, that was not the case for Samuel. After seeing Tom Welling play him for an episode, I don’t really mind.
John: You did it, Mary. You found him.

Comics have some incredibly iconic couples: Spider-Man and Mary Jane, Nightwing and Batgirl, Reed Richards and Sue Storm, Superman and Lana Lang ... wait a minute, that last one isn't right. Even those only tangentially familiar with Superman know that Lois Lane is his one and only. That wasn't, however, the case for Clark Kent, who fell for Lana long before meeting his future wife. So, when creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar went about telling the story of Clark's (Tom Welling) younger days in "Smallville," it was Lana and not Lois who initially stole his heart. This is not to say the writers were bound by Superman's already dense mythology, because the duo added some pretty exciting new developments to the mix, most notably making Clark's burgeoning friendship with young Lex Luthor (a brilliant Michael Rosenbaum) serve as a core element of the series.

Tom Welling's return as Clark Kent during a cameo in The CW's "Crisis on Infinite Earths," aka the sixth Arrowverse crossover event, was a sight for sore eyes. The actor reprised his role as the superhero eight years after the finale of "Smallville," a prequel series from The WB that focused on the blue boy's formative years ... before he took on his identity as Superman. Welling was incredible as Clark Kent; his interpretation of a young boy coming to terms with his superpower has been cited as one of the best Superman portrayals on television.
As a young boy growing up in Smallville, Clark was forced to find a way to lead a normal life while concealing his abilities from his friends and navigating the presence of Kryptonite in his hometown. The series never wavered from the idea that Welling's Clark Kent always wanted to be a regular guy ... but when destiny calls,...

Back when I was watching "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" weekly, there were few television moments more exciting than when that series would crossover over with its spinoff "Angel." Sadly, once the shows were airing on different networks, the events of Sunnydale barely warranted a mention in Los Angeles, at least until "Buffy" was wrapping up its run, but those episodes were fun when they happened. The CW's Arrowverse later became known for its epic crossovers, which attempted to capture the energy of some of DC Comics' major events.
Across the decades, TV crossovers have ranged from intuitive ("The Flintstones" and "The Jetsons") to truly unexpected ("I Love Lucy" and "Adventures of Superman"). Sure, "Grey's Anatomy" and "Station 19" makes sense, but no one would've anticipated "Bones" and "Family Guy" before it happened. Well, somewhere in between Buffy and Angel's timeless romance and multiple crisis that brought together infinite earths, there...

Ah, the glory days of early 2000s television, when studios scrambled to capitalize on the success of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Friends," and "Beverly Hills, 90210." Enter The WB's "Smallville," a Superman prequel based on the blue boy's formative years, before he donned the tights, red underwear, and cape. Starring Tom Welling as Clark Kent, Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lane, Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor, Sam Jones III as Pete Ross, and Allison Mack as Chloe Sullivan, the series offered a fun spin on the Superman story and tinkered with iconic characters in a way that made them feel fresh. Lex Luthor, for example, starts out as Clark's best friend and gradually devolves into his comic-book counterpart. At the same time, Superman regulars such as Lois Lane (Erica Durance), Jimmy Olsen (Aaron Ashmore), and Supergirl (Laura Vandervoort) were given makeovers to properly update them for the modern era; ditto...

Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar have shared their response to news that James Gunn is working on a new Superman movie.
Prior to creating Netflix’s Wednesday, Gough and Millar were behind another hit series: Smallville.
The show starred Tom Welling as the caped superhero. It was hugely successful and ran for 10 seasons from 2001 to 2011.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the pair reflected on their time working on Smallville.
Asked whether they would consider revisiting or rebooting the series, both Gough and Millar agreed that the answer is no.
Speaking about Superman as a character, Gough went on to give his reaction to news that Gunn – the newly appointed co-chair and co-ceo of DC Studios – is focusing on a new Superman film that would focus on a younger iteration of the superhero. .
“I think we told that story, and they’re always refreshing Superman,” Gough said.
