Crystal Palace look to have gained a jump-start on their rivals for Charlie Austin’s signature, with The Sun reporting that the Eagles are set to make a £7.5 million bid for the Qpr striker.
Alan Pardew’s team have been one of the surprise packages in the Premier League this season, playing some impressive football and currently finding themselves sitting 7th in the league table. However, goals have been an issue for them of late, with three consecutive games without scoring and Patrick Bamford’s loan-spell being cut short.
The rest of the strikers, including summer signing Connor Wickham, have all failed to impress, so it shouldn’t be any surprise that Palace are looking to bolster their strikeforce and continue their push for a European spot.

Football wouldn’t be the same without poor refereeing. What would we moan about after the game or scream about during it?
Imagine a match where the officials get everything correct and you trot home afterwards with three points in your rucksack and a beaming smile across your face. Actually, that sounds brilliant doesn’t it? Although, if you’re a Newcastle United fan it’s probably a feeling that you have rarely felt?
The people of Tyneside enjoy a good rant about an incompetent official almost as much as seeing the ball hit the back of the net and luckily for them there has been a number of disgraceful decisions to analyse throughout the Magpies’ Premier League history.
There is nothing more gut wrenching than a wrongly disallowed goal that would have put your side in front against Manchester United or a player being...

Update: Sunderland Echo reported Tuesday evening that although Kieran Richardson is expected to leave Aston Villa before the closure of this transfer window, the Stadium of Light won’t be his destination. They say Sunderland simply aren’t interested in bringing him back.
Sunderland are eyeing a £2 million move for Aston Villa and former Black Cat utility man Kieran Richardson, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 30-year-old, who is adept at playing on the left-hand side of defence or midfield, has just one year left to run on his Aston Villa contract.
He joined Villa just three years ago after spending half a decade on Wearside, totting up 134 appearances in Red and White, including scoring a memorable free-kick in a Tyne/Weir victory over Newcastle United (back in the days before this occurrence became common place!).
