- Sometime character actor who served in the Navy during WWII before heading to L.A. for an acting career. He was also a talented jazz and classical pianist. When not performing he managed a living as an interior designer and furniture salesman.
- Turned his life around at age 65 with yoga after a four-pack-a-day smoking habit, excessive drinking and a poor diet had left him in dire health (respiratory ailment, heart problems, arthritis, high blood pressure). An inspiration to many, he later taught classes at the Center for Yoga and was featured in the 2003 documentary "The Fire of Yoga," narrated by Ali MacGraw. He taught hundreds of students over a 17-year period.
