We all have issues with our parents, be them related to love, money, neglect or other grievances and wrongdoings, real or imagined. But the story of Stephen Pandos is more extreme than most. He spent a decade trying to prove that his mom and dad were responsible for the unsolved disappearance (and, presumably, death) of his 15-year-old sister, Jennifer, back in 1987. A tall, soft-spoken Virginian, he pursues his cause with dogged determination, through investigations conducted by police and private eyes, and through a seven-year collaboration with filmmaker Cynthia Hill. Stars: Richard Grieco, Wade Hunt Williams, Benjamin Bernard, Christian DeJesus, Jamie Petitto, Jack Pearson | Written by Marc Gottlieb | Directed by Noah Luke
With Dwayne Johnson’s big-budget Jungle Cruise due out from Disney soon, The Asylum was sure to be ready with their own cash in. And sure enough, here comes Jungle Run starring Richard Grieco and a bunch of people you’ve probably never heard of before fighting creatures rendered with questionable CGI.
Lebecq captain’s a charter boat in Brazil. Like all jungle boat captains, he drinks heavily and leaves everything to his crew Sark (Benjamin Bernard; Messiah) and Teese (Christian DeJesus). Despite offering private charters he’s managed to charter his boat out to both Amanda and Vera (Jamie Petitto; Geek USA).
Amanda and her brother Scott (Jack Pearson; Shark Season) are searching for their missing father Nathan. Vera runs the company that sent him into the jungle.

Stars: Oliver Robins, Alissa Schneider, Melissa McNerney, Jonathan D. Lee, Wade Hunt Williams, Eddie Craig, Sage Croft, Jim Horning | Written by Oliver Robins, Jeff Rubin | Directed by Oliver Robins
Oliver Robins, who most genre fans will know from the first two Poltergeist movies where he’d played Robbie Freeling, steps both infront and behind the camera for Celebrity Crush – a genre film which brings us an interesting look at not only the cult of celebrity but also the rabid fanbase horror cinema has… taken to extremes of course! Remember folks, this is Just a movie.
Celebrity Crush tells the story of Jonathan Blaklee who, as a child, appeared in 80s slasher movie Chain-Face Clown. A slasher that has gone on to be deemed a classic of the genre. With the film set for a Blu-ray release, Jonathan heads off on a promotional tour at the behest of his friend and co-star.

Stars: Scott Haze, James Franco, Tim Blake Nelson, Jim Parrack, Fallon Goodson, Vince Jolivette, Jeremy Ambler, Nina Ljeti, Brian Lally, Ciera Parrack, Boyd Smith, Wade Williams | Written by James Franco, Vince Jolivette | Directed by James Franco
I first read Child of God by Cormac McCarthy (No Country for Old Men, The Road) at the end of the nineties and was blown away by it. Since then it has become one of my favourite novels and one that I’ve re-read a dozen times or more. When I heard that James Franco (Pineapple Express) was directing a feature adaptation of the novel I was concerned, excited and concerned some more. Franco, someone I had seen nothing by in terms of directing, seemed like an odd director and it worried me that a story of such darkness wouldn’t be given the proper respect.
Fast-forward to this week and the DVD release...

Do not mistake Child of God for being a film on a religious topic. It follows Lester Ballard (Scott Haze) who, after a rough childhood, now lives on his own in the forest after being rejected by society. Living by his own rules, Lester is almost feral, his crimes slowly getting worse and more depraved as the film progresses and we follow his life as a man outside of society, and out on his own,
Having never read the book of the same name, written by Cormac McCarthy, I cannot say how closely the film stays true to it. So let’s just say that there is a book and you can check it out if you want.
