There’s a new trailer for World on Fire, the Masterpiece war drama from The A Word’s Peter Bowker that bows Sunday, October 15, on PBS.
The series looks at World War II through the eyes of ordinary people from all sides of the conflict. The new seven-episode season will follow the first year of the war, starting with the German invasion of Poland in September 1939 and ending with the Battle of Britain.
The cast includes Lesley Manville (The Crown), Jonah Hauer-King (The Little Mermaid), Ahad Raza Mir (Resident Evil), Mark Bonnar (Guilt) and Gregg Sulkin (Runaways).
In 2019, PBS joined the BBC for a second season of the drama that starred Helen Hunt as a war correspondent. Season 2 has already dropped in the U.K, where viewers have noticed the absence of Hunt, as well as Sean Bean, Arthur Darvill and Brian J. Smith — due to a combination of scheduling...

ITV is bringing back hit cop drama Unforgotten for a fourth season.
The series, which is being developed in the U.S. for ABC by Josh Berman, Sony Pictures Television and BBC Worldwide Productions, has been handed a six-episode run following the success of the third season, which average 6M viewers an ep.
The Split’s Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar (Goodness Gracious Me) return as two London detectives, who work together to solve cold case murders and disappearances. The first series explored the case of the death of a 16-year old schoolboy, the second investigated the murder of a political consultant and the current season looks at the killing of a schoolgirl who disappeared on New Year’s Eve.
Creator Chris Lang will write the episodes, which will be directed by Andy Wilson with Guy de Glanville as producer for Sally Haynes and Laura Mackie’s Mainstreet Pictures.

British crime series from Inspector Morse to Midsomer Murders have long dominated linear television schedules in the UK and show no sign of slowing down. The man responsible for many of the latest gruesome hits is Chris Lang, creator of ITV’s Unforgotten and Innocent.
Lang tells Deadline why this new generation of police dramas is resonating with audiences and why he is interrupting this murder spree to focus on a number of more lighthearted, romantic comedy projects.
Unforgotten is currently in its third season and the Mainstreet Pictures-produced series is averaging 6M viewers a night, despite fierce competition from Aidan Turner’s sythe-wielding drama Poldark. The show follows two London detectives, played by The Split’s Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar (Goodness Gracious Me) as they work together to solve cold case murders and disappearances. Endeavour, Season 2, Episode 3, “Sway”
Directed by Andy Wilson
Written by Russell Lewis
Airs Sundays at 9pm (Et) on PBS
“There’s more to life then coppering, or at least there should be for a man your age”
The exploration of character and character development on Endeavour has always been the show’s strongest suit. It has never been afraid to examine the darkest sides of a character’s personality. Endeavour (Shaun Evans) is sometimes a frustratingly closed off man, incapable of making human connections and often baffled by things that don’t concern his job or the puzzles he must solve. Since his shooting at the end of last season, his estranged father’s death, and his subsequent return home, he seems too have evolved, at least to a degree. He’s developed a relationship with his pretty next door neighbor, nurse Monica (Shvorvne Marks) and though he’s still...

In this dark rendition of the tale of Snow White, the Huntsman charge to kill does not only take mercy on her, but also mentors her in her revolt against the evil queen. Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron co-star; Rupert Sanders directs.
For more fantasy and fairy tales:
Grimm’s Snow White (2012) Stewart’s is not the only Snow White who is armed. In this spirited TV adaptation of the classic tale, Eliza Bennett plays a blond version of the ruby-lipped princess, whose weapon of choice is a bow and arrow. But will her new-found might be enough to face down the evil queen’s dragons? Rachel Goldenberg directs.

Sky 1 HD have commissioned a new fantasy drama series based on the iconic adventurer Sinbad and will broadcast 13 hour-long episodes next year.
Straight out of drama school 20 year old newcomer Elliot Knight has nabbed the title role with recognisable faces cast around him including; Lost’s Naveen Andrews as baddie Lord Akbari, Oscar nominated Hotel Rwanda actress Sophie Okonedo as the love interest, Queen of the Water-Thieves and Timothy Spall as Anicetus, The Old Man of Sea.
I believe the image above of Knight is our first look at him as the fabled sailor who weekly will be fighting monsters, goblins and other devilish creatures and is it just me or does he the eyes of a villain and Naveen Andrews, long-touted as a good potential to play Sinbad in a big-screen movie, would have been a more inspired choice to play the titled hero in a new series?

Kidnap And Ransom
Stars: Trevor Eve, Helen Baxendale, Emma Fielding, John Hannah | Written by Patrick Harbinson | Directed by Andy Wilson
Dominic King (Trevor Eve) works in a high-risk occupation: he’s a private hostage negotiator, bartering with terrorists for the release of British kidnap victims in hostile territories across the world. He’s dedicated, serious, and professional – if you were to characterise him with a popular catchphrase from the X-Men (as you do), he’d definitely fit “the best there is at what he does”. But when a victim is stolen from one gang by another, headed by a mysterious ex-military man (John Hannah) who changes the rules King usually plays by, it turns out that this is a completely different game altogether.
Sounds exciting, right? Car chases, tense exchanges, guns to heads and all that good stuff? Well, normally I’d agree with you, if it weren’t for...

24 year old Reece Ritchie is to star as Sinbad in Sky1 TV's new 13 part adaptation of the classic tale.
Directed by Andy Wilson, the Sky Television/Impossible TV production is scheduled to shoot this summer in Malta.
Reece, from Lowestoft, has already appeared in three major films: the caveman epic 10,000 BC, in which he starred opposite Camilla Belle; as Saoirse Ronan's love interest Ray Singh in The Lovely Bones, and the Prince of Persia.
He has previously played roles as ethnically diverse as Indian American (Ray Singh in The Lovely Bones) and a Persian warrior, though in fact his father, who worked on an offshore oil rig, is from Durban, South Africa, and his mother, a dietician, is English. 'She's blonde with blue eyes,' he explains. 'I'm a straight mix.' A mix which have also proved to be perfect for the Middle Eastern/Arabic look required for Sinbad.

Photograph by Andy Wilson, via Flickr. While Gov. Mark Sanford continues to cling to office, the good people of South Carolina are spending their Fourth of July weekend resuming a tiresome question that we postponed last week when we all needed a few days to mourn over Michael Jackson—that is, whether or not Sanford should resign. The short and obvious answer is that, as a philandering hypocrite who is despised by virtually every officeholder in his state, he should. This is not debatable. A majority of the Republicans in the South Carolina state senate are calling for him to quit, and at least seven newspapers in the state have seconded it. But Sanford doesn’t seem to get it. Fortunately, there is another way out. South Carolina should just throw him in jail.
