June Diane Raphael is set to topline ABC’s single-camera comedy pilot Pulling, based on the praised 2006 British series. Raphael will star opposite Mandy Moore in the pilot, written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky and directed by Jason Moore, which revolves around three dysfunctional women in their 30s living their lives the way they want, even if society tells them they should have it all figured out by this point. Raphael will play the lead, Donna, whose seemingly perfect life suddenly falls apart, and she moves back in with her single best friends Karen and Louise (Moore). Raphael was attached to play one of the leads in another ABC comedy about three female friends this season, The Housewives, which she co-wrote with Casey Wilson. The project, from Sony TV and Will Gluck, had a put pilot commitment but missed out on a green light. Raphael and Wilson also sold...

Kate (June Diane Raphael) and Chloe (Casey Wilson) have been best friends their entire lives, finishing each other’s sentences, sleeping in the same waterbed, they even have a catch phrase when introducing themselves to people (“Kate and Chloe! Her Chloe, me Kate. Kate and Chloe.”) It is endearing how the girls support each other unconditionally with positive affirmations and constantly reminding each other they are on the verge of greatness – Kate is the CEO of her own company! (Kate is an egg doner.) Chloe is on the verge of becoming a big star! (Chloe is a go-go dancer.) But unfortunately, Kate and Chloe are co-dependent messes who have no idea how far from greatness (or even acting their age) they truly are. Despite living large in New York City, when the girls receive an invitation to return to their hometown’s beauty pageant circuit, you can tell they both want to go back and compete. Kate...

Last night on Late Night, Tracy Morgan gave his own grumpy, Grinch-y take on Jimmy Fallon's reading of The Night Before Christmas. "Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse," Fallon crooned as yuletide music twinkled in the background. "I hate that mouse, always walking around with his little nails scratching against my kitchen floor," Tracy Morgan growled. "I got brand new floors, Jim, from France." Yeah, seriously! Plus: Adam Pally gave Casey Wilson an apology helmet for the concussion she had gotten from banging her head on the black penis mic that Pally had been resting on Damon Wayans Jr.'s lip. But, all's well that ends happily, right? Also, when the time comes for Dexter reruns on a TV network, you might be hearing a lot of "You damn 'peanut butter sandwich'" from serial F-bomb dropper Jennifer Carpenter; and Don Johnson aired out alllll of Jamie Foxx...

"Community" fans who are apprehensive about the direction of Season 4 should take heart in the following news: Tricia Helfer ("Battlestar Galactica") will guest-star in an early episode.
That's a nice casting get, but it's who she's playing that should comfort Human Beings everywhere: According to TVLine, Helfer will play a rabid "Inspector Spacetime" fan whom Abed (Danny Pudi) meets at a convention for the fake show.
The episode will also feature Matt Lucas ("Bridesmaids," "Little Britain") as a fellow fan.
Other TV casting news:
- Penny (Casey Wilson) is getting a new guy on "Happy Endings." Nick Zano, late of "2 Broke Girls" and "90210," will appear in at least six episodes of the ABC comedy as a guy who helps Penny get over her feelings for Dave (Zachary Knighton). [Hollywood Reporter]
- Kimberly Williams-Paisley ("According to Jim") will recur on ABC's new drama "Nashville" as a former flame of Eric Close's character.

The Housewives is about three women in 1954, and Raphael is in negotiations to play one of the leads, according to Deadline. Awww, now that's one delightful duo. Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand aren't exactly two names you'd expect to see share top billing on any feature but the pair play mother and son in Anne Fletcher's upcoming road-trip comedy "The Guilt Trip." Based on a script by Dan Fogelman ("Crazy, Stupid, Love"), the story follows an inventor who embarks on a road trip with his mother as he tries to sell his latest product, while he has a secret plan to reunite her with a long lost love. So, yeah, pretty much that Rogen movie you've been waiting to take your grandmother to which you'll now be able to do under the pretence of catching Streisand's first starring role since "The Mirror Has Two Faces" in 1996. On top of all that, there's also a talented supporting cast in place as well with Adam Scott, Yvonne Strahovski, Colins Hanks, Danny Pudi,...

It's taken half a season of growth, but IFC's Comedy Bang! Bang! has become essential viewing for fans of the craft of comedy. Maybe not as essential as, say, Louie, which Patton Oswalt notes is the truest representation of a working comedian's lifestyle ever caught on film. But CBB is perhaps TV's most interesting comedy in terms of displaying jokes in process, in a paradoxical comedic space where even the most serendipitous improvised moments are carefully presented.
Much of that credit goes to host and creator Scott Aukerman, who has a unique perspective informed by his time as a writer and sometime cast member on the seminal Mr. Show, and his years spent developing CBB from a weekly stage show, to a local Los Angeles radio program (Comedy Death Ray Radio), to a popular podcast, and now to television. IFC's "Comedy Bang! Bang!" (premieres Fri., June 8, 10 p.m. Et) is based on the incredibly popular podcast from Scott Aukerman of "Mr. Show" fame (he's also the man behind Zach Galifianakis' hilarious talk show spoof series "Between Two Ferns"). The new show is part improv sketch show and part late-night talk show, complete with musical accompaniment from one-man-bandleader Reggie Watts.
In an age where a Twitter feed can be turned into a sitcom, it's not that much of a stretch to imagine a hilarious podcast becoming a sketch-talk show hybrid. Plus, Elizabeth Banks, Jon Hamm, Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen, Amy Poehler, Adam Scott, Michael Cera, Ed Helms, "Weird" Al Yankovic and Aukerman's pal Galiafianakis are all on tap to come hang out on the couch.
I visited the set to see what the show was all about, and got a little more insight into the format of things. Those...

Casey Wilson is the unlucky-in-love and "totes hilar" Penny Hartz on ABC's "am-ah-zing" sleeper hit sitcom "Happy Endings." Fans of the show know all too well that Penny has a uniquely quirky way of pronouncing and abbreviating words ("abbrevs" to those in the know), much to the chagrin of her group of friends on the show. In a video chat with senior editors Chris Beachum and Rob Licuria, Wilson talks about her kooky character, who proclaimed last season as "the Year of Penny" but whose ongoing romantic failures have become a running gag on the show. "I think it is probably going to have to be the decade of Penny in order for her to find anything worth finding. You know, [maybe] the century of Penny." But she still holds out hope for Penny, no matter how many times she fails to find Mr Right. "She's very unlucky in love, and...

Who is Claire and how come she gets her own Cambodia?
We have a feeling that "Claire's Cambodia" is a film with more of a metaphorical title than a literal one, and one that has attracted a cast that includes Sarah Paulson, Mary Kay Place and Mamie Gummer, according to Deadline.
"Cambodia" revolves around three sisters whose estrangement, resentment and envy of one another knows no bounds -- even upon the news that their father is terminally ill. The film is set to be directed by Stacy Sherman ("God Sleeps in Rwanda"), who says the city of Los Angeles, where the story is set, will become a character in and of itself as its sprawling size and diverse neighborhoods will illustrate the sisters' differences in a "comedic way."
L.A.'s going to have trouble upstaging a cast this good, though. Sarah Paulson's understated performance as Elizabeth Olsen's...

Home for Actresses from Megan Mullally
Let's be honest -- if you decided to take lessons on being cool and awesome from someone, Megan Mullally seems like a pretty safe choice.
That's probably why the premise of this new Funny or Die video, "Home for Actresses," works so well. Mullally plays Peggy Dvorak, an eccentric, grey-haired lady who takes innocent young actresses like Lizzy Caplan, Casey Wilson, Lake Bell, Michaela Watkins and Aubrey Plaza, under her wing and shows them why they should toss their "Sex and the City" boxed sets and trade them for NPR.
What else is cool? Well, smoking isn't, but quitting smoking totally is. Ke$ha isn't, but atoning for humming Ke$ha in the shower by learning four Nina Simone songs totally is. And some people, like nice girl Ellie Kemper, just don't have enough edge to be cool, ever.
What else can young actresses do to become cooler?...

She's not teaching acting, because "acting can't be taught," no, Peggy teaches these very funny ladies "how to be cool." From fashion tips to dating do's and don'ts -- date a guy with a drug problem -- Peggy has advice for all situations.

The untitled high-concept single-camera comedy landed at ABC with a sizable penalty. HBO Comedy "Bored to Death" returns for Season 3 on Oct. 10, and though the network is holding onto new footage from the 8-episode run, there is this summery teaser of the trio walking down the Coney Island boardwalk.
Stars Jason Schwartzman, Ted Danson and Zach Galifianakis appear silent and sunglasses-clad while Beastie Boys' "Triple Trouble" plays in the background. (It's Season 3 and there are three of them... Get it?)
The new run picks up where the last left off, with the three still collaborating on Jonathan's (Jason) freelance detective work and George embarking on a new life after leaving his editor gig at "Edition." Also on tap this season are guest appearances from Casey Wilson, Danson's wife Mary Steenburgen and a slew of others.
