In Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, Al Yankovic (Daniel Radcliffe) is a curly-haired, awkward kid with no friends and no excitement in his life. Until one day when he ends up at a turnt-up polka party where he wows the party crowd by shredding on the accordion. His parents, Mary and Nick Yankovic (Julianne Nicholson and Toby Huss), disapprove of him playing, and his relationship with them becomes strained.
As he grows older, he moves away and lives with his four friends, who encourage him to find inspiration for his music after Al claims to love taking well-known songs and changing the words — thus making parody records. He records a song called “My Bologna” and sends it to the Captain Buffoon radio show. They love it and play it in heavy rotation, but not everyone is on board. He talks to record execs the Scotti Brothers, but his music and looks get trashed.

The Roku Channel released a first look image of Evan Rachel Wood (“Westworld”) as Madonna in “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.”
The upcoming biopic will dive into all aspects of the legendary comedian and recording artist’s life and career — including his rise to fame with early hits like “Eat It” and “Like a Surgeon,” which he famously parodied from Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” (with permission from the Queen of Pop).
In addition to the first look of Wood as Madonna, Roku also announced multiple additions to the “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” cast on Wednesday. Rainn Wilson (“The Office”) portrays radio broadcaster Dr. Demento, Julianne Nicholson (“Mare of Easttown”) plays Weird Al’s mother Mary Yankovic and Toby Huss (“Halt and Catch Fire”) is Weird Al’s father Nick Yankovic.
The Roku Original Film, which began production in Los Angeles last month, stars Daniel Radcliffe as Weird Al.

Music funnyman Weird Al Yankovic has pledged to continue touring after the tragic death of his parents, because he's hoping his wacky tunes will help him recover from the double loss. Nick Yankovic and Mary Yankovic, who were both in their 80s, were discovered dead of carbon monoxide poisoning in their San Diego, California, home on Friday. Paramedics found a wood fire had been burning in the fireplace, the house was full of smoke and the flue was closed. But devastated Yankovic is eager to resume his Poodle Hat tour, because he deems it the perfect way to overcome the tragedy. He says, "I briefly considered canceling some shows, but I ultimately decided that it would be better for me personally to continue working. Plus, I've heard from so many people over the years that my music has cheered them up in times of tragedy... well, I thought maybe my music would help me too. So far, it has."...
