You know what this means, right? It means everything with “The Hunger Games” is becoming more real.
We’ve been speculating for months — many, many long months — about who should be cast in “The Hunger Games,” the first installment in Suzanne Collins’ sci-fi trilogy depicting a violent future where children fight to the death for the amusement of the masses.
We’ve speculated and mused about who would be the right fit for roles such as Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark and Primrose Everdeen, among others.
We’ve smiled and nodded as Hailee Steinfeld said to be involved in such a project would be “an honor” and Liam Hemsworth said the script was “super dark.”
Well, the days of wondering who might be who will soon be behind us, as Lionsgate as hired Debra Zane as casting director on “The Hunger Games,” according to Speakeasy.

With the movie schedules jam-packed with comic book movies right now, why was the 1990s so poor for them? Simon finds out…
It's already been pointed out far and wide on the Internet, but the summer schedules for the next two years are looking jam-packed with blockbusters. And more and more of them are being derived from a comic book source. Furthermore, it's not even the summer alone that's playing host to such films, either.
Next January, for instance, in a completely out-of-season slot, we get The Green Hornet. And that's going to kick off a series of films that includes two new X-Men movies, at least, Thor, Captain America, The Dark Knight Rises, Ghost Rider 2, The Avengers, The Green Lantern, possibly Deadpool, Iron Man 3, G.I. Joe 2, Sucker Punch, Pride And Prejudice And Zombies, Superman, Fantastic Four and Daredevil reboots, Ant-Man, and Judge Dredd. That's just for starters, and...

Lisa Soltau was living in Seattle when her friend Bonnie Gillespie sent her a book she had written called "Casting Qs," a compilation of interviews with casting directors. "I read it and I absolutely loved all the aspects of the job," says Soltau. "I loved the entertainment industry and movies and television. The process of casting sounded wonderful."She called one of the two casting offices in Seattle and ended up working as an intern there for about six months. But the CD told her she should move to New York or Los Angeles if she really wanted to pursue a career in casting. "I picked L.A. because I had lived there once for about three years and I thought it would be easier to acclimate there," Soltau says. "Plus I wanted to work on 'Six Feet Under,' which was airing at the time.

Although it doesn't happen on every project, Debra Zane savors those "Oh my God" moments when it is clear that a role fits an actor like a glove. "The Casting Society of America has their own awards once a year called the Artios, and artios is the Greek word for 'perfectly fitted,' " says Zane, who has been honored with 10 Artios nominations and three wins, most recently for Dreamgirls. "That, I think, is the true definition of what casting needs to be, because when it truly fits, then you get the best version of the story."Consider the audition of Oscar nominee Michael Shannon for the role of John Givings in Revolutionary Road. The New York - based Ellen Lewis, who cast the film with Zane, came up with the idea of Shannon for the part, but Zane's feedback and extra care sealed the deal. At Shannon's audition, casting...

Casting Directors: Ellen Lewis and Debra Zane Director: Sam Mendes Writer: Justin Haythe Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Kathy Bates, Michael Shannon The Pitch: Frank and April Wheeler (DiCaprio and Winslet), an idealistic couple in the 1950s, grow increasingly dissatisfied with their suburban existence. Why turn to the theatre to cast the supporting roles in director Sam Mendes' period drama? "Because you're going to get a better actor," says casting director Debra Zane. The much-anticipated mid-century drama Revolutionary Road reteams Mendes' wife, Kate Winslet, with her Titanic co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio. The L.A.-based Zane, noted for her work on American Beauty and other Mendes projects, and New York CD Ellen Lewis, who cast Mamma Mia! and the soon-to-be-released Shutter Island, previously collaborated on the dark comedy Pleasantville. "I really look at casting as creating a world," says Lewis. "You're attempting to capture the director's vision of that world.
