"Goosebumps" and "Monsters vs. Aliens" director Rob Letterman is reportedly being lined up to direct the long-in-development new "Dungeons & Dragons" film at Warner Bros. Pictures.
The big-budget fantasy, based on the iconic role-playing game, boasts a script penned by "Wrath of the Titans" scribe David Leslie Jones.
Self-proclaimed D&D fan Vin Diesel has previously been rumored for the movie about a warrior and his band of mystical creatures – including a half-dragon and a cunning gnome – as they embark on a dangerous journey to find a mythical treasure.
Roy Lee, Allan Zeman, Brian Goldner, Stephen Davis and Courtney Solomon will produce. The property was adapted for the small screen as an animated television series in 1983 and a much-maligned live-action film in 2000.

Lending a new lease of life to Warner Bros.’ long-in-development Dungeons & Dragons movie today is Rob Letterman who, according to The Tracking Board, is in line to helm the big-budget fantasy feature.
Best known for Monsters vs. Aliens, Shark Tale and, more recently, Goosebumps for Warner, Letterman will reportedly steer the iconic role-playing game onto the silver screen, via a script penned by Wrath of the Titans scribe David Leslie Jones.
Boasting a legacy that stretches all the way back to the mid-70s, few media franchises hold a candle to Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson’s Dungeons & Dragons. In its meandering path to theaters, Warner has cited both J.R.R. Tolkien and James Gunn’s rip-roaring space opera Guardians of the Galaxy as cinematic touchstones.

Hasbro and Warner Bros have now stopped fighting, and thus a new Dungeons & Dragons movie has been announced.
Plans have been afoot for a good year or two now to bring another take on Dungeons & Dragons to the big screen. Given that Game Of Thrones is about the biggest program on television right now, and that features both dungeons and dragons, let's not class this as a surprise.
However, notwithstanding the fact that the original Dungeons & Dragons movie wasn't very good (nor its follow-ups, in truth), a legal dispute between Warner Bros and Hasbro has been holding up progress on a fresh screen adventure for the hugely popular role playing series.
Hasbro and Warner Bros have now, it's been revealed, ended their legal battle, and are moving forward together on a new Dungeons & Dragons film. Brian Goldner, Stephen Davis, Courtney Solomon, Allan Zeman and Roy Lee are all already attached as producers to the movie.

Videos prep fans for Courtney Solomon's Getaway fast-paced actioner Ethan Hawke, Selena Gomez, Jon Voight, Paul Freeman, Bruce Payne and Rebecca Budig star in this super-looking Warner Bros. Pictures release, hitting venues on August 30th. Courtney Solomon directs from the screenplay by Sean Finegan and Gregg Maxwell Parker. Moshe Diamant, Christopher Milburn, Allan Zeman and Solomon produce the film which looks to deliver some thrills galore via its intense driving scenes, thanks to a gorgeous Ford Mustang Gt-500 custom.

If you did a double-take when you first heard that Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez were in a movie together, or raised your eyebrows when you then heard that the Getaway movie wasn’t about something involving angst-riddled teens and heart-wrenching drama… and, if you thought a selection of new images would clue you in to something beyond cars, explosions, and moody pictures of Hawke and Gomez very near each other… well, frankly, I’ve lost my train of thought.
However it all works out, this Getaway movie looks fantastic. There’s probably a really good reason that Gomez’ character has a custom Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake for Hawke to steal, but… no, I’m kidding.
Still, it may be fun. Have a look at some hot new images, and get ready to choke on everything you ever said about Selena Gomez’ acting ability.

On board are Ethan Hawke, Selena Gomez, Jon Voight, Paul Freeman, Bruce Payne and Rebecca Budig. Sean Finegan and Gregg Maxwell Parker wrote the script for the film produced by Moshe Diamant, Christopher Milburn, Courtney Solomon and Allan Zeman. With Brent's only ally a young hacker (Selena Gomez), his one hope of saving his wife is to follow the orders of the mysterious voice (Jon Voight) who's watching his every move through cameras mounted on the car Brent's driving.

Update, 5:52 Pm: The other player in the battle over who owns the movie rights to Dungeons & Dragons has just made their latest move. Regardless of the copyright and trademark infringement complaint filed today by Hasbro, Sweetpea Entertainment say they intend to move ahead with their D&D film at Warner Bros. “This is nothing but shameless opportunism on the part of Hasbro, an effort to use the Court and the legal process in an attempt to delay the project,” said Sweetpea’s Courtney Solomon in a statement late Tuesday. Having retained powerhouse entertainment lawyer Patricia Glazer of Glaser Weil Fink Jacobs Howard Avchen & Shapiro, the producer says Sweetpea hopes to deal with the legal matter “quickly and firmly and we are confident we will prevail.” Glazer calls Hasbro’s suit “classic Hollywood shenanigans.” Read the full statement from Sweetpea below: Sweetpea Entertainment has had Dungeons & Dragons motion picture rights since the 1990’s including sequel,...

As the year draws to a close, Warner Bros. is beginning to look forward, as they’ve provided a few new images and synopses for choice options in their 2012 slate. This crop, only a small portion of their offerings for the next twelve months, consists of Bullet to the Head, Rock of Ages, Project X, and The Apparition. Nothing exhibited here is a big revelation for those who’ve been following the films for a few months — although I did learn that a movie titled “The Apparition” is coming out — but a new picture or two never hurt anybody. Now, let’s get down to business.

Looks like only six of the eight After Dark Originals announced thus far will be headed to theatres later this month. This is totally fine by us because why not spread the red out a little bit?
Instead of tapping into the vast and innovative talent of directors and filmmakers from Horrorfest’s acquisitions over the past four years, After Dark has taken the horror festival concept to a higher level. After Dark Originals showcases eight new cutting edge horror films spanning the genre. The mission is to create high quality horror films that provide After Dark full control from script concept through final editing. The After Dark Originals line will be in limited theaters starting on January 28th, 2011.
Dig on the first round of announced theatres here! Check out the After Dark Originals website for more! Read on for the plot crunches of the remaining six!

NEW YORK -- After Dark Films partners Courtney Solomon and Allan Zeman are launching Autonomous Films, a sister production/distribution label with a two-year, $55 million JPMorgan P&A credit facility.
Solomon has raised about 70% of the $50 million he will use to produce and acquire three to four mainstream films a year, most in the $5 million-$20 million range. Half of the production funds will come from private-equity funding (mostly from Hong Kong-based real estate financier Zeman) and half from international presales, subsidies and other sources. Solomon said the remainder of the financing will be finalized within the next few weeks.
Autonomous plans to put three films into production in first-quarter 2008, with one set for distribution in the fourth quarter and the second set for release during second-quarter 2009. Although the unannounced project deals are now being finalized, two of the planned films are broad comedies and one is an action caper film in the vein of "Ocean's Eleven". Solomon said a potential fourth feature would be in the $1 million-$3 million range.

Lionsgate has signed a three-year production and distribution deal with After Dark Films, the company from filmmaker Courtney Solomon and financier Allan Zeman, who produced the indie boxoffice hit An American Haunting. The deal calls for ADF to supply Lionsgate with multiple wide release films each year and as many as two specialty films a year, with ADF putting up the P&A expenses. Lionsgate will retain ancillary rights to all the films. Also, as ADF ramps up its production operations, Lionsgate and After Dark also will co-produce films with P&A to be determined for each film. ADF also will produce and acquire its own films for wide release through its alliance with Mark Borde and Mike Doban's Freestyle Releasing, which will serve as ADF's distribution arm. Lionsgate will retain all ancillary rights to this product as well. ADF will manage its own P&A and marketing for these films under the leadership of Solomon and vp creative affairs Stephanie Caleb.
