Ken Jeong (The Hangover, Community) has signed on to star in a comedy currently known as Untitled Celebrity Death Pool. In it, he will play a nightclub owner who is in debt to a loan shark, so he sets out to win his long-running celebrity death pool by killing his chosen celebrity... David Hasselhoff.
What makes this even more awesome is the fact that Hasselhoff himself is also on board to co-star in the film. He's also producing it with WWE Studios President Michael Luisi and Hyde Park’s Amritraj, Michele Berk, Patrick Hughes, and Warren Zide.
If you didn't think this news could get any better, you are wrong, because Hulk Hogan also signed on for a role! This film seems like it will be full of cameos, but the actors mentioned here are the only ones that have been revealed so far.

"American Pie" producer Warren Zide has filed for bankruptcy after he was hit with a tax demand for more than $500,000. A $518,630 lien was filed against the moviemaker by officials of the state of California at the Los Angeles County Recorder of Deeds on July 14.
It was the latest in a string of financial demands dating back to 1999 for Zide - and on August 18 he filed for bankruptcy, according to The Detroit News. In court papers, the producer listed estimated assets and liabilities between $1 million and $10 million and creditors include the California Franchise Tax Board and America's Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Zide's $1.69 million house in Santa Monica is also up for sale, according to the documents.
Warren Zide is currently listed among the board of producers for "5nal Destination". The movie, set for August 26, 2011 release, is also produced by Craig Perry.

The fifth installment of the never-ending and inappropriately titled Final Destination series now has a director tied to it. Variety [via FirstShowing] is reporting that Steven Quale will direct the film for Warner Brothers and New Line Cinema. Quale has done extensive work with James Cameron over the years and is considered to be his protege.
The release date is August 26, 2011. The script is being penned by Eric Heisserer, who also redid A Nightmare on Elm Street. The film has the same producers as the rest of the franchise: Craig Perry and Warren Zide.
I haven’t seen numbers 2-4 because I saw the first. It was an incredibly trite thriller which leaves me little reason to believe the sequels have any originality. In their defense, Quale is a technician by trade, which might means quality special effects. We will see if he is able to redeem the franchise.
What do you think of this franchise?...

Hollywood studios are now thinking twice about splurging on A-list movie stars and costly productions in reaction to the poor economy, but also because of the surprising success of recent films with unknown actors.
After buddy comedy "The Hangover," a movie with a little-known cast, made $459 million at the global boxooffice this past summer, several films have shown that a great concept or story can trump star appeal when it comes to luring fans.
"District 9," a low-budget movie in which the biggest stars were space aliens treated like refugees and the lead actor was South African Sharlto Copley, made $200 million. Thriller "Paranormal Activity," starring Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat, has cash registers ringing to the tune of $100 million.
Next up, on Nov. 20, comes Summit Entertainment's relatively low-budget ($50 million) franchise movie "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," a sequel to 2008 hit vampire romance "Twilight" which made global stars of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

One of the nice things about being a gay horror filmmaker is, after you hang around awhile, you realize you’re part of a nice little club. And eventually, it feels like you all know each other.
I first met Jeffrey Reddick at a cast and crew screening of one of my films. Paul (Hellbent) Etheredge-Ouzts brought his friend “Jeffrey” to the screening, and we chit-chatted a bit afterward. On the way home my brain added up all the stuff we talked about, and suddenly it clicked—Was that the writer of Final Destination?
Since then we’ve become friends and, in the grand tradition of Hollywood, mainly see each other at screenings and conventions. He’s a busy guy, and kinda sorta has that career that many of us indie flick filmmakers dream of—access to the people who make it happen, and big(ger) budgets.

Thirty-five years ago, "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" hit No. 1 on the charts. Now, it might be heading to the big screen.
Producer Warren Zide has picked up the rights to Jim Croce's classic pop song in the hope of turning it into an action-comedy franchise.
The song told the story of Leroy Brown, "the baddest man in the whole damn town ... badder than old King Kong ... and meaner than a junkyard dog." In the song, Brown makes a pass at girl in a bar, then gets beat up for his trouble by her jealous husband.
Croce died in an airplane crash in 1973, just as his career was beginning to take shape.
According to Zide, his uncle tried to secure the rights to the song 25 years ago. When he showed Zide documents of the attempt, Zide cold-called the Croce family, striking up a partnership.
"We've always wanted to do a movie with one of Jim's character songs," said Croce's widow, Ingrid.

Savage Steve Holland, the writer-director of 1980s classics like "Better Off Dead", is returning to the genre that made his career with "The Big One 3", his first feature film in more than 18 years.
Warren Zide is producing via his Flipzide Studios along with JB Rogers.
Holland wrote and directed 1985's "Dead" and 1986's "One Crazy Summer", both starring John Cusack, before segueing into television, building a name for himself directing such shows as "Even Stevens", "Lizzie McGuire" and "Phil of the Future".
Zide described the script, which sat on Holland's shelf for a while, as something that will compliment "Dead" and "Summer", making it a trilogy of sorts.
"This is based on a true events in Savage's life," Zide said. "When he was a kid, he had his 13th birthday party and the only one that showed up was a clown, and all that that guy did was hit on his sister."

Fallout Entertainment has acquired the rights to remake the 1975 blaxploitation action comedy Dolemite.
Company principal Bill Fishman is slated to direct from a screenplay being written by Jeff Hause and David Hines. The film will be produced by Warren Zide.
Dolemite -- inspired by a character created by comedian-writer-producer Rudy Ray Moore during the 1970s -- is an ex-con who, in attempting to regain control of his nightclub, is joined by a squad of "kung-fu fighting girls" and other allies as he goes up against all who stand in his way. Moore will executive produce and might have a role in the remake.
"I think there is a certain sincerity in the original that is kind of undeniable," Fishman said. "(Moore's) a cult figure and a luminary. ... He's an original.
(We are) giving enough respect to the original and building on it," the helmer added. "We are going to use some of the original one liners. (Moore's) eminently quotable."
The production company is in the initial stages of casting and has had discussions with several stars of comedy and hip-hop, including Snoop Dogg.
