We would still trust Andrea Zuckerman to edit a newspaper, but after watching Monday’s 9-1-1 premiere, we’d be less confident letting her pilot an aircraft.
Gabrielle Carteris guest-starred as the co-pilot of a blimp that crashed into a stadium full of soccer fans — all to the tune of Panic! At the Disco’s “High Hopes,” because of course. And just like that, the 118 did what the 118 does, springing into action to rescue the pilots as well as the panicked crowd. Athena even got to fill in as a part-time heart surgeon, which is always a fun surprise.

Several protests have been filed with the federal government over the re-election of Gabrielle Carteris to the SAG-AFTRA presidency in August.
Carteris won the contest handily to remain as top elected officer of the performers union with 13,537 votes, or 44% of ballots cast, compared to 10,682 for Matthew Modine; 5,048 for Jane Austin; 1,096 for Queen Alljahye Searles and 367 for Abraham Justice. SAG-aftra’s national election committee denied all 14 protests on Oct. 8.
Los Angeles board member Brian Hamilton confirmed Thursday to Variety that he had met for several hours with investigator Troy Krouse of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Labor Management Standards in the agency’s Los Angeles. “He said my protest was very interesting,” Hamilton added.
Hamilton is alleging in his complaint that the two August airings of the Fox series “BH90210,” in which Carteris starred as the president of a fictional actors union, amounted to “a...

SAG-AFTRA has honored President Gabrielle Catereis, Executive Vice President Rebecca Damon and Chief Operating Officer Duncan Crabtree-Ireland with George Heller Memorial Award gold cards.
The award is presented every two years at convention and bestowed based on contributions and years of service to SAG-aftra or its predecessor unions. Recipients are selected by a subcommittee comprised of past recipients and National Honors and Tributes Committee members from around the country.
The union announced the awards Saturday during the third day of a four-day convention at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The convention is closed to the news media.

Oh hi there, Andrea Zuckerman! The nostalgia was apparent at the 2017 SAG Awards, as it featured its usual In Memoriam segment to honor entertainers who passed away over the past year. But upping the nostalgia factor even more was the person who presented it: Gabrielle Carteris, best known for playing the nerdy student and journalist on Beverly Hills, 90210 in the '90s. But to scores of actors in Hollywood and beyond, the actress is known as president. Of their labor union, that is. Carteris, 56, had served as executive vice president of SAG-aftra since 2012 and was elected president after actor Ken Howard, the first leader of the merged union, died at age 71 in March...

The Internet Movie Database, otherwise known as IMDb, and other entertainment database sites are now legally bound to remove the age of an actor if they request it. Why? It all comes down to discrimination. We know the entertainment business has always been sexist but it's also known for being ageist. Most recently Renée Zellweger had to defend herself from a critic who felt she shouldn't age or change her appearance but when it comes to lesser known actors whether you get, or are even able to audition for, a job may depend on those hiring knowing your age. A few years ago actor Junie Hoang sued IMDb for revealing her true age, which she said cost her jobs in an industry obsessed with youth. As she put it, "In the entertainment industry, youth is king." She lost, and appealed, then lost again. But SAG-aftra and others have been working...

Allowing ages on casting websites only encourages age discrimination, especially for women, says former Beverly Hills, 90210 star and current SAG-aftra president Gabrielle Carteris.
In a guest column for the Hollywood Reporter, Carteris, 55, is pushing lawmakers to pass legislation that would remove actors' ages from casting websites like IMdB and StudioSystem.
"It is time to stop the ageism that permeates Hollywood's casting process," she writes. "This problem exists for all performers, but most distinctly for women. Performers create characters and often employ illusion to do so. That's acting."

It is time to stop the ageism that permeates Hollywood's casting process. This problem exists for all performers, but most distinctly for women. Performers create characters and often employ illusion to do so. That's acting. My role on Beverly Hills, 90210 could not have happened for me today, plain and simple. I would never have been called to audition for the part of 16-year-old Andrea Zuckerman if they had known I was 29. Party at the Peach Pit! Long before she was named executive vice president of SAG-aftra — a position that scored her a coveted seat at Jennifer Aniston's table at the 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Jan. 25 — Gabrielle Carteris lit up screens as Andrea Zuckerman on the beloved '90s TV show Beverly Hills, 90210, a role for which she is still recognized today, almost 15 years after the series finale. It took Donna Martin seven seasons, 206 episodes, and a lot of false starts by a blue-balled David Silver to finally lose her virginity on Beverly Hills, 90210. But at long last, at the tail end of the two-part season finale that aired on May 21, 1997 (“Graduation Day”), she gave it up. “It was scary after so long to think it was finally going to happen,” Tori Spelling tells Vulture. Spelling was, of course, daughter to megaproducer Aaron Spelling and, according to longtime 90210 writer and producer Larry Mollin, Father Spelling was largely the reason Donna stayed chaste for so long. “All the other kids’ characters were having sex and hers was still the virginal girl,” he says. (But let’s not forget Andrea Zuckerman; she didn’t put out easily, either.) As part of Vulture’s ongoing micro oral history week, we spoke with Mollin, Tori Spelling, and Jason Priestley — who...

Former "Beverly Hills 90210" star Gabrielle Carteris captured SAG-AFTRA's executive vice presidency Thursday, besting rival Mike Hodge in a vote one delegate described as "not even close." Carteris, who played high school newspaper editor Andrea Zuckerman on the series, had the backing of SAG‑AFTRA Secretary‑Treasurer Amy Aquino and Roberta Reardon, the union’s former co-president. New York Local President Hodge, meanwhile, was backed by Ken Howard, the national president, and Clyde Kusatsu, the union’s newly installed L.A. Local president. Before a total of 303 ballots were cast, two other candidates joined the race, although neither drew enough votes to influence the outcome. Carteris received 66.5 percent of the vote to 23.22 percent for Hodge. Jane Austin, who ran unsuccessfully for secretary-treasurer on a ticket with Esai Morales, received 10.28 percent. Millie Wright was also a candidate. “I am so grateful to be elected executive vice president and I look forward...

Original Beverly Hills 90210 actress and former SAG-AFTRA La Local co-President Gabrielle Carteris is running for the union’s powerful Executive Vice-President job, the actress announced tonight. “As National Executive Vice President of SAG-AFTRA I will work with President Ken Howard, my fellow union leaders and members to help SAG‑AFTRA find its strong common voice,” Carteris said in a statement Sunday. The Evp election will take place at SAG-AFTRA’s inaugural convention, which is in La from September 26 to 29. And it looks like former National co-President Roberta Reardon won’t be seeking the Evp gig as was widely expected. Instead, Reardon has endorsed Carteris. “As we approach the 2014 negotiations, we need Gabrielle’s steady hand and steely determination to help guide our union,” she said on Sunday. Reardon narrowly lost a bid to become President of the NYC Local in the union’s recent national election, its...

Best commercial ever or best commercial ever?
Old Navy reunited "Blossom" costars Joey Lawrence and Mayim Bialik for their floral ad campaign this spring, and now they've targeted another favorite TV show from your childhood: "Beverly Hills, 90210."
In the first ad, Gabrielle Carteris -- who is still the exact same age she was in 1990 -- resumes her familiar role of lusting after Jason Priestley. The only difference is, this time, Andrea Zuckerman and Brandon Walsh are teachers.
The second TV spot sees Jennie Garth and Luke Perry joining the gang. Once again, Kelly's got to make her choice... and once again, she doesn't choose Brandon or Dylan.
If David Silver doesn't show up soon, we will just die.

Former "90210" stars Jennie Garth, Jason Priestly, and Luke Perry star in the most recent Old Navy back to school commercial promoting "great-fitting jeans."
As to be expected, Garth, who played Kelly, has to choose between Perry (who played Dylan McKay) and Priestly (who played Brandon Walsh), as her character did on the '90s primetime soap. "I choose jeans. All of them!" she says.
"90210," which aired on Fox from 1990-2000, chronicled the dramatic lives of the students of Beverly Hills High School.
Priestly also starred in two other Old Navy back-to-school commercials, one which co-stars Gabrielle Carteris, who played Andrea Zuckerman on the early seasons of "90210." The ad plays up the crush Andrea had on Brandon in the series. The other commercial? Is a lesson on how to avoid getting "pantsed."

Oh, how good it feels to think back to the Beverly Hills 90210 days. Can you hear the theme song now? Four members of the original cast, Luke Perry, Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth and Gabrielle Carteris, just landed themselves in two Old Navy commercials for its back to school campaign. Andrea Zuckerman is back to fawning over Brandon Walsh while a second video shows he and Dylan McKay trying to win over Kelly Taylor's heart all over again.
Not sure what's more unrealistic: Dylan riding his motorcycle in the middle of the hallway, or Andrea still looking like she's 17. Either way, we'll take it!
Old Navy, keep up the good work. Maybe next time Donna Martin can come back to graduate to help you sell some of your summer merchandise.

In the wake of the relatively well-received inquiry of what happened to the cast of "That 70s Show," I figured that -- for absolutely no reason at all -- we'd also take a quick glance around at the former cast of "Beverly Hills, 90210" and see who the big winner (if any) from the series really is. So here are a few highlights from the show's major (and some minor) players as well as a brief listing of what each one of them has been doing since the show wrapped its decade-long run in 2000. Of course, there's a new incarnation of the show, merely titled "90210," which kicked off in 2008, but I haven't watched it. I'm sort of a snob like that, although I will admit that I only watched the original program because it aired during my late teens and early adulthood, which sort of makes one susceptible to the lures of primetime soap operas.

Despite its myriad of improvements over the course of the past three seasons, last night’s Prom-centric episode of 90210 crystallized an issue that has been plaguing the troubled series since its hastily crafted inception.
That issue? The astonishing misuse of West Beverly High.
One of the biggest appeals of its predecessor Beverly Hills 90210 was the fact that audiences truly believed these kids went to high school. From Andrea Zuckerman’s academic intensity and Steve Sanders’ failing grades, to Donna Martin’s learning disability and subsequent fight to graduate, West Beverly High wasn’t just a home to the occasional sexual assault by a trusted teacher, it was a living and breathing entity at the center of these kid’s universe that helped fuel a wonderful world of storylines that fans could not only relate to, but cared about. "I thought, 'This is it, I'm gonna lose the job...' By that time the show had been on long enough (and) I was Ok."...

Gabrielle Carteris was worried about being too old to play a high school student when she was first cast in "Beverly Hills, 90210" - so she lied about her age!
"They didn't know, I lied," the actress told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Monday's Access Hollywood Live about playing the 16-year-old Andrea Zuckerman when she was 29.
"I actually talked to a lawyer about how could I sign these contracts and lie about my age and still be able to do the show. 'Is it Ok?' And, 'Yes it is, as long as you just say you're ...

The recently Oscar-nominated Jennifer Lawrence has been cast in the coveted role of Katniss Everdeen, the teenage heroine of hugely popular Hunger Games trilogy. The book series’ fans have debated (and debated) who would be right for this plum role ever since it was first announced that it would become a movie. And while “act your age” has never been a motto in Hollywood, the land where Botox flows like wine and telling people your age is 30-murmurmurmur is considered acceptable, when it comes to Katniss, age has understandably become a bone of contention with fans.

Even though we did not get many, if any, questions answered, there was never a dull moment on "Turnabout."
Since last week's two-hour return, I wondered when Vicky would show her face again and tonight we got our answer.
Looks like this femme fatale became quite the scaredy cat. I can't blame her, though, since she made it clear to Dempsey that she was the traitor and ever since had been living on the run. Her son and mother were nowhere to be seen, but that doesn't mean they weren't with her.
The fact that Sean grew a pair and took action completely surprised me. He's such a nice guy who doesn't look like he possesses the gusto to pull off half the stunts he had been involved in.
I will tell you one thing: it wasn't who I expected to see holding a gun to Vicky's head, but I...

Gabrielle Carteris, who is obviously best known for voicing Elektra in the Marvel Ultimate Alliance video game, is stopping by The Event for a 2 episode arc.
Ok, the Mua thing was a joke (though she really voiced Elektra), Carteris is, of course, famous for playing Andrea Zuckerman on 90210 back in the day. She also, by the way, just turned 50 years old last month.
In The Event, she’ll be playing Diane Geller, an alien that has been living with the human popoulation. She will be an old friend of Michael Buchanan who also survived the Inostranka crash in 1944.
You can expect to see Gabrielle in the March 14 and March 21 episodes of the show. The Event is expected to return from hiatus on March 7 with brand new episodes.

If you’re under 25, that headline probably means nothing to you. If you’re over, you may have just broken into a cold sweat. But before you reach for the booze, keep this in mind: Carteris was 29 when she started playing 16-year old Andrea Zuckerman on Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1990. Her youngest costar, Brian Austin Green (a.k.a. David Silver) won’t hit the big five-0 until … 2023! Phew. That’s way in the future. And Shenae Grimes, star of the new 90210, won’t be 50 until 2039! Which, whoops, just made us feel old again. So forget that part. Happy birthday, Gc!

Is the end of the road for Glee stars Lea Michele and Cory Monteith? Maybe not quite yet, but there’s reason to believe they may be replaced in a year or two! Glee creator Ryan Murphy doesn’t want his show to suffer from the 90210 syndrome of featuring stars who are supposed to look high school aged but really look 30 (ahem Andrea Zuckerman). Darren Criss Joins Glee Live Tour “Every year we’re going to populate a new group,” Murphy explained. “There’s nothing more depressing than a high schooler with a bald spot.” Murphy has reportedly...

A momentous date such as this only comes along once in a lifetime (for those of you who skew more Steve Sanders than Andrea Zuckerman, it's 9/02/10. Rad, right?!). And what better way to mark the occasion than to wax nostalgic on the Og TV hit by reliving one of its finest, would-be-forgotten guest starring moments, courtesy of E!'s own fearless leader, Ryan Seacrest. "In honor of #90210day, I present u with my cameo on '90210' from a decade ago!" he tweeted. You see? Hosting was in his blood. We already know there’s a new Spider-Man movie on the way, a gritty, 3-D origin story with no Maguire or Dunst or Raimi in sight. We know it’ll be directed by Marc Webb of (500) Days of Summer, and that it’ll hit theaters July 3, 2012 — a mere 768 days away! But we still don’t know the answer to our biggest question: Who’s going to take over web-slinging duties as the new Peter Parker? But that might be about to change…
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Webb has narrowed down the pack of potential Parkers (say it five times fast!

Ah, the long-fabled Cuddy episode, the one I so hoped would give us magical emotion-generating insight into her character, the one where House and his neediness took a backseat to Cuddy's development and depth. If "5 to 9″ was supposed to put us in Cuddy's shoes, boy did it -- and yeah, they're impractically tight and tough to maneuver in. House took a break from cool life-saving techniques, snarky back-and-forths, and interesting collaborative reasoning for all the edge-of-your-seat drama of insurance negotiations. Cuddy woke up at 5 a.m., much like other parents of toddlers, to do some yoga. Her morning routine seemed pretty crazed,...

Admit it. When you saw last night that Ge heiress Kathy Geiss was auditioning for Tgs -- the sketch comedy show-within-a-show of 30 Rock -- you knew that the ugly, Mark-Wahlberg-worshiping duckling would bust out with a note-perfect rendition of the Susan Boyle standard "I Dreamed a Dream." You know why you knew that? Because Movieline commenter Andrea Zuckerman-Vasquez totally called it back on June 1. Strap in, Kathy. A makeover and attendant nervous breakdown are totally inevitable.

The new "90210" returns to The CW this Tuesday (Sept. 8). Or maybe what's premiering on Tuesday is the new, new "90210," or even the new, new, new "90210." As many breakups and abrupt reversals as there have been within the show, there have been nearly as many creative changes-of-direction behind the camera. But maybe that's as much a part of the past as Steve Sanders or Andrea Zuckerman, with returning executive producer Rebecca Rand Kirshner Sinclair starting her first full season as showrunner, offering the hope of stability. Not included in that stability? Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) and Navid (Michael...
