Geoff Morrell, Fabian McCallan and Sara Zwangobani are the latest Aussie additions to the cast of Amazon Studios’ Lord of the Rings, currently shooting in New Zealand.
They are among a set of 20 new actors joining the eight-episode series, including Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Maxim Baldry, Ian Blackburn, Kip Chapman, Anthony Crum, Maxine Cunliffe, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Thusitha Jayasundera, Simon Merrells, Peter Mullan, Lloyd Owen, Augustus Prew, Peter Tait, Alex Tarrant, Leon Wadham and Benjamin Walker.

Kate Croser. Producer Kate Croser has been appointed to the South Australian Film Corporation (Safc) board.
Croser.s first feature film, Granaz Moussavi.s My Tehran For Sale, was the winner of the 2009 If Independent Spirit Award.
In 2010, Croser was the recipient of Screen Australia.s inaugural producer internship at Film4, and went on to produce Anthony Maras. The Palace, the winner of the 2012 Aacta award for Best Short Film.
In television, Croser produced two seasons of Danger 5 for Sbs, nominated for Aacta Best TV Comedy for each season.

Four directorial debuts are among the Adelaide Film Festival’s (Oct 15-25) 10 competition titles: Visar Morina’s Father, a refugee story that opens in 1990s Kosovo and closes in Germany; Danish director Daniel Dencik’s historical drama Gold Coast, set in Africa; Lamb, set in director Yared Zaleke’s homeland of Ethiopia; and South Korean thriller Office from Hong Won-Chan.

One-hundred and eighty films will screen at the Festival - including over 40 Australian films, and 24 South Australian films - with 51 countries represented at the Festival.

Cinema des Antipodes is an organisation directed by Bernard Bories that screens and supports Australian and New Zealand films in France. Its non-competitive program runs parallel to the Cannes Film Festival main program.
The dedicated Aftrs session consists of six films including writer/director Ben Matthews' Emily, which is currently in the running for a Student Oscar in the Best Foreign Film category. The psychological thriller examines teen suicide from the perspective of a parent.

Mrs. Carey’s Concert, Bob Connolly’s first documentary since 2001′s Facing the Music, will open next month’s BigPond Adelaide Film Festival on February 24.
The biannual event will be closed by Brendan Fletcher’s Mad Bastards.
Mrs. Carey’s Concert (co-directed by Sophie Raymond) is one of the 14 projects supported by the Adelaide Film Festival Investment Fund. The film chronicles the preparations for a classical music concert at a Sydney’s girl school; both directors will be in attendance, alongside the school’s music director Karen Carey and some of her students.
