What happens when you team one of America’s best indie horror filmmakers (directing from his own script) with one of America’s biggest mockbuster makers, The Asylum? Well, you get 13/13/13.
Seemingly inspired by Darren Lynn Bousman’s 11-11-11, The Asylum have, since 2011, been releasing thematically similar horror flicks for the past few years. In 2011 we had 11/11/11, and last year they released 12/12/12 and this year we get 13/13/13 (the title will make sense once you’ve seen the film). The Asylum’s previous “demonic number” flicks told of children, anti-christs reborn on earth, and how they were set to bring about the apocalypse. Well now The Asylum have taken it a step further with this flick – the apocalypse is well and truly under way in this ends of days tale…...

Just in time for Halloween, The Asylum, the studio behind this summer’s social media juggernaut Sharknado, has followed that hit with the final installment of their ‘11/11/11’ horror franchise, called ‘13/13/13.’
‘13/13/13’ is available now on DVD, Blu-ray, and on demand. Written and directed by James Cullen Bressack (Theater Of The Deranged, Hate Crime), the film stars Trae Ireland, Erin Coker, Jody Barton, and Calico Cooper. Erin Coker returns from ‘11/11/11,’ though she does not reprise her role.
In the tradition of horror classics The Hills Have Eyes and The Crazies, ’13/13/13’ blends a demonic possession tale with the end of society as we know it. Its premise is simple and scary: calendars have added an extra day every four years for millennia. In doing so, they violated the ancient Mayan calendar. Now we are in the 13th month of the 13th year of the new millennium, and the few who survive will battle a world of demons.

An Sov offering from Chemical Burn Entertainment, Junkfood Horrorfest (2007) is a no-budget anthology directed by Brian Crow. Written by Brian Crow and Walter Reuther (Scarlet Fry), the movie opens with a female junkie looking for a fix but instead getting a video cassette from her dealer. In a fit of rage, the junkie goes back to the dealer with a crowbar and beats him to death. The blood-soaked junkie then finds a friend and asks if he wants to watch a movie. The dealer is unforgettable but the junkie is played by Calico Cooper, daughter of shock rocker Alice Cooper. This intro leads the viewer into six horror shorts tied together by quick vignettes involving Scarlet Fry as a redneck cannibal complete with a mask made of skin (a la Ed Gein) and a female victim tied to a tree in the background, awaiting her fate.

It’s been busy over here at FM, what with the launch of our Graveyard Examiner and everything, but last weekend I promised more in-depth coverage of Universal’s Eyegore Awards, so here it is!
Upon entering Universal Studios’ Globe Theatre, there could be no doubt that you had just walked into a horror awards show. A quick glance around the room revealed an eclectic group of guests – eating a wide variety of delicious food – mingling among the eerily candlelit tables and surrounded by haunting rows of corn reminiscent of oh-so-many beloved horror flicks.
Now, allow me to digress for a moment. I’m afraid that when some of you were reading that last paragraph you may have been distracted by phrases like ‘eerie candlelight’ and ‘haunting rows of corn’ and skipped right over the quip about the amazing food. Even if the rest of the evening had been a...

In our further coverage of the 2011 Eyegore Awards held this past Friday, September 23rd, at the Globe Theater at Universal Studios in Hollywood, California (see our report of the award ceremony itself here, courtesy of our own Heather Wixson), this writer hit the event as well and brought back some ocular candy from the carpet as well as interviews with a few of the night’s principals from the same.
Paying respect to some of horror’s most venerated players and notable newcomers, the event was hosted (as it has been in years past) by The Lost Boys co-star Corey Feldman (who arrived with two blondes and attired in a hybrid glam/matador get-up) and attended by celebrity presenters Thomas Jane (The Mist), filmmaker and musician Rob Zombie, James Gunn (Slither, Super), Calico Cooper (daughter of shock-rocker Alice Cooper) and Frozen and Hatchet director Adam Green.

This past Friday night, September 23rd, the Halloween season officially kicked off in style with the 2011 Chiller Eyegore Awards held at the Globe Theater at Universal Studios in Hollywood as part of the opening night of Universal's Halloween Horror Nights. Hosted by genre veteran and previous Eyegore winner Corey Feldman (who was joined on stage by a wisecracking zombie scarecrow), many of horror's biggest names came out to celebrate our favorite time of year and pay homage to several of the genre's biggest contributors and newcomers alike.
The evening kicked off with actor Thomas Jane (The Mist, Deep Blue Sea, "Hung") presenting an Eyegore statue to long-time friend David Arquette, who's been best known to horror fans as Deputy Dwight "Dewey" Riley from Wes Craven's Scream since its release almost 15 years ago now.
Arquette graciously accepted his award, saying "I really want to thank you all. This is a...

Last night, Universal Studios celebrated the opening of its Halloween Horror Nights with the Eyegore Awards – the annual ceremony which honors the creme de la creme of the horror genre.
Emceed by Corey Feldman, the evening brought us appearances by Rob Zombie, Thomas Jane, James Gunn, Adam Green, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Calico Cooper, and Brian Gott (the Publisher of Variety) as this year’s batch of Eyegore Awards were presented to the House Of 1000 Corpses star Rainn Wilson, Scream stars David Arquette and Jamie Kennedy, Don’T Be Afraid Of The Dark star Bailee Madison, Frozen star Emma Bell, and the great Alice Cooper.
The Eyegore’s weren’t the only excitement of the evening, though. Chainsaws revved throughout the night as blood-covered clowns roamed Universal, terrorizing guests as they made their way to the park’s six screamtacular mazes (The Thing: Assimilation, Eli Roth’s Hostel: Hunting Season,...

It's that time of year again. No, not back to school time or the start of the NFL season. I can't argue that both of those events do bring a smile to my face, but I'm talking about something rooted much deeper in the darkness. I'm talking about the announcement of the Eyegore Award winners!
The Eyegore Awards are given by Universal Studios Hollywood during the grand opening of their Hollywood Horror Nights to honor winners who have been standouts in the horror field. Let me give you some clues as to a few of this year's winners…We've got a guy named after a witch, a paper salesman and the dude who landed the hottest chick ever while sporting the cheesiest mustache ever. Did you guess Alice Cooper, Rainn Wilson and David Arquette? Give yourself a pat on the back if you did. Huzzah! Joining that threesome are Jamie Kennedy,...

Looks like Alice Cooper is headed back to his hometown of Detroit, and this has all the potential to be one of the coolest homecomings of all time.
According to Blabbermouth.net the legendary rocker will cameo in and lend his music to the upcoming Silas Gore: A Rock Trilogy, which will star his daughter, Calico Cooper.
"Madison Ave. Media is excited to work with Harmonie Park on the 'Silas Gore' project," says Madison Ave. Media, Inc. founder Stephen Molinari. "This project will exemplify a new way to launch a movie and soundtrack, using 21st Century digital communications technology never before harnessed to support a movie project."
"The opportunity to promote 'Silas Gore' using Madison Ave. Media's powerful digital marketing tools will establish a new way to market a new film and soundtrack — and the 'making-of' as well," Harmonie Park's Brian Pastoria explained. Oh, Rob, you take a mighty big risk giving your sophomore film a title like Suck. Either you are supremely confident or supremely foolish ... and my money is on confident.
Canada’s Rob Stefaniuk earned himself a small but dedicated cult with his debut scifi comedy - Phil The Alien - a cult which he now looks ready to expand upon with his sophomore film Suck, a vampire comedy slated to have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. And it’s not just any rock and roll comedy, either ... no, this one boasts songs written by Stefaniuk himself, a soundtrack by John Kastner from The Asexuals and The Doughboys - who you probably don’t know but are very, very good nonetheless - and cameo appearances by Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, Carol Pope, Henry Rollins and Moby along with the likes of Malcolm McDowell. “Chicks dig me,” sneers Beef (Moby), the shaven-headed self-proclaimed “biggest rock star in Buffalo” as he pushes aside Hugo (Chris Ratz), the spindly roadie for down-and-out rock band The Winners. Marching to his doom down a filthy corridor leading to the dimly lit motel room where the cold white embrace of Jennifer (Jessica Paré), The Winners’ incandescently beautiful bass player, awaits him, Beef will find that while chicks may dig him, this one will love him to death.
And even beyond death. As the phrase goes, rock and roll is indeed a vicious game.
This week, filming will wrap on the Toronto set of Capri Films’ Suck, with Fango having enjoyed unprecedented access, totaling 17 days of the 20-day shoot. Writer/director Rob (Phil The Alien) Stefaniuk, who also stars as the band’s frontman Joey, hopes to bypass the curse of “vampire rock...
