KollywoodThose outside Tamil Nadu may have heard of Dhanush due to ‘Raanjhanaa’ and viral songs like 'Why this kolaveri di' but his body of work in Tamil deserves to be better known. Tnm StaffFans of Tamil cinema are delighted that actor Dhanush, who has routinely set the screen on fire in several Tamil movies, is in the cast of The Gray Man along with Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling. What's more, the film will be directed by the Russo brothers who made Avengers: Endgame. This isn't Dhanush's first foray into Hollywood films. He was previously seen in the forgettable The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir in 2018. However, this film is clearly on another plane altogether. Dhanush is known as much for his expressive and emotive acting as he is for his dance skills. With his lithe frame and fiery dialogue delivery, the actor has played the underdog to great success in several films.

KollywoodThe film, reportedly set against the backdrop of a jameen family, will have the Bollywood actor playing an Aghori sadhu.Digital NativeDigital NativeFilmmaker Kasthuri Raja, who was instrumental in launching his son Dhanush’s career with the film Thulluvadho Ilamai, is all set to return to direction after a decade. His last directorial project was the 2006 film Idhu Kadhal Varum Paruvam. The veteran director’s next project is titled Paandi Muni and will feature Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff as one of the leads. According to a Toi report, Jackie will be seen playing an Aghori sadhu. The film also stars Nikesha Patel and Meghali in crucial roles. “This is a role that Jackie Shroff has probably never done before in his career – that of an Aghori. The film is set against the backdrop of a jameen family and revolves around Jackie and Meghali’s characters; it’s a war between God and the ghost. The actor had loved the narration and was quite thrilled about his character and the challenges it involves. He will be in Chennai for the official announcement of the project,” a source associated with the film said. The source added, “The film will be shot in Kurangani, Javadhu Hills (near Thiruvannamalai), Malaysia and Thailand.” Expected to go on the floors within 10 days, Madhu Ambat will be handling the cinematography and Srikanth Deva will be scoring the music for the film. Jackie was last seen in the Tamil thriller Maayavan, in which he played the antagonist. The actor also reportedly plays the main antagonist in Prabhas’ Sahoo. Best remembered for his role as a gangster in national award winning Tamil film Aaranya Kaandam, Jackie is expected to commence shooting for Paandi Muni from later this month. At the launch of the film earlier this week in Chennai, the Bollywood actor said he was really excited about playing a very different character. He added that his look will be highly spoken about and it is the kind of role that will challenge and push him out of his comfort zone. After giving R. Madhavan a hit to his name in a single male lead film, A L Rai is working his follow up film “Raanjhana” with another South actor, Dhanush Kasthuri Raja. While this maybe old news, the fact that the Tanu Weds Manu director is not only all praise of the Kolaveri actor/lyrisist but he feels this is not a one off cross of the borders film for Dhanush.
“We have so many girls from down South stepping into Hindi films but filmmakers seem to get cold feet when it comes to actors. Maybe ‘Raanjhana’ would break the myth that’s actors from South aren’t successful in Hindi films. I have seen Dhanush’s work down South, he will take Bollywood by storm,” Aanand told Times of India. Wow now that would be a big change and one surely to be welcomed.
