DirecTV Inc. said Monday that it'll be the first to take the "MySpace experience and bring it to life as a television show" with the debut of a new reality series titled Project MyWorld at 6 p.m. Monday on the satellite provider's Channel 101. MyWorld, DirecTV's fourth original series, will follow three friends -- Shaina Fewell, Renee Intlekofer and Taryn Southern -- as they travel the world in search of the people they've met on the social-networking Web site MySpace. DirecTV said the three women will create, develop and produce MyWorld according to their own unique personalities for "the ultimate in viewer-generated content." They also will serve as executive producers and maintain the show's Web site at www.myspace.com/projectmyworld. "The fact that it's totally homegrown by Shaina, Taryn and Renee really drew us to the project," said Eric Shanks, executive vp entertainment at DirecTV.
