Based in Los Angeles, California, Javier Szerman is a two-time International Emmy Award-nominated Entertainment Executive, Producer, Showrunner and Consultant specialized in premium content development and production for all platforms, with over 20 years of experience.
Javier was recently Head of International Originals Latin America and Head of Mexican Originals at Amazon Studios, where he built and grew the region's original content division. He oversaw the development and production of series and movies for Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and Brazil, positioning the company as one of the top players in the continent.
Previously, he was Vice President, Content Development of MundoFox, Fox's Spanish-language broadcast TV network in the U.S. During his tenure, he supervised the development and production of all original content for the network, including scripted drama series, comedies, reality shows and game shows.
Earlier, he served as Executive Director, Content Development, for Fox International Channels Latin America, where he co-created and built the original scripted content division. In this position, he executive produced several critically-acclaimed and highly successful scripted series, where he oversaw the creation, development, writing, casting, preproduction, production, postproduction and launching of these series.
Throughout his career, Javier has developed, written and/or produced a vast variety of groundbreaking projects for such worldwide-known companies as Sony Pictures Television, Disney/Buena Vista Productions, MGM, Fox Sports Americas, Columbia TriStar Television, MTV Latin America, National Geographic International Channels, FX Latin America, Sky Latin America and Telemundo.
His TV writing credits include comedies, drama series and specials. In addition, he is an internationally award-winning filmmaker, whose short films have received honors in France, Belgium, Spain, Canada, United States, Argentina and Russia.
Javier was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he got his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the National Film Institute. As a result of being awarded the prestigious Fulbright Fellowship from the U.S. Government, he moved to Los Angeles and obtained his MFA/Advanced Certificate in Film from Cal Arts (California Institute of the Arts).
A national active member of the Television Academy, Javier is also a four-year former Chairman of the Latino Writers Committee of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and was a screenwriting instructor at UCLA. He is fluent in English and Spanish, and is proficient in Portuguese.
