New Delhi, June 12 (Ians) Australia and India have been handed hefty fines for maintaining slow over rates in the Icc World Test Championship Final held at The Oval.
India slipped to defeat early on day five of the Wtc Final, losing by 209 runs to Australia on Sunday.
An additional 15 minutes were taken at the end of the session to allow the final wicket to be taken, and Nathan Lyon picked up the scalp of Mohammed Siraj to secure Australia the Wtc title.
India have been fined 100 percent of their match fee while Australia docked 80 percent of their match fee due to their sluggish over rates, breaching Article 2.22 of the Icc Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.
Article 2.22 relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined 20 per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.

Melbourne, Nov 7 (Ians) The International Cricket Council (Icc) on Monday announced that Kumar Dharmasena and Paul Reiffel will be the on-field umpires for the second semifinal of the Men’s T20 World Cup between India and England, to be held at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday.
For the semifinal starting at 6:30pm local time in Adelaide, Chris Gaffaney will be the third umpire while Rod Tucker will take charge as fourth umpire and David Boon will be the match referee.

Dubai, Oct 4 (Ians) Nitin Menon, the only Indian in the Icc Elite Panel of umpires, figures in the list of 16 umpires and four match referees who will officiate in the T20 World Cup First Round and Super 12s stage matches in Australia from October 16.
Menon, the 38-year-old former Indian cricketer, has been selected along with 15 other umpires to officiate in the World Cup matches to be held at seven venues across the country.
“In total, 16 umpires will officiate across the tournament with Richard Kettleborough, Nitin Menon, Kumara Dharmasena and Marais Erasmus having been the umpires in charge of the 2021 final, which saw this year’s hosts claim their first Icc Men’s T20 World Cup title,” said Icc in a statement on Tuesday.

Dubai, June 8 (Ians) Icc Elite Panel match referee Chris Broad will oversee the World Test Championship (Wtc) final between India and New Zealand, scheduled to commence at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton from June 18.
The International Cricket Council (Icc) on Tuesday announced the officials for the match. Icc Elite Panel's Richard Illingworth and Michael Gough will be the on-field umpires.
Richard Kettleborough, also a member of the Elite Panel, will be the TV umpire while Alex Wharf of the Icc international panel of umpires will be the fourth official.
"We are pleased to announce an experienced team of match officials for the final of the World Test Championship," said Icc senior manager (umpires and referees), Adrian Griffith.
"It has not been an easy time with the pandemic, but we are fortunate to have a group of officials at the top of their field who have been consistent over the years in this momentous fixture.
