His first job was working for local newspapers in Kyoto.
In 1962 he founded Tatsunoko with his two younger brothers, 'Kenji Yoshida' (who took over Tatsuo's position as producer after he died) and Toyoharu (aka Ippei Kuri).
He taught himself to draw manga comics.
He named his studio Tatsunoko, which has the double meaning of "Tatsu's child" and "sea dragon" (which was the inspiration for its seahorse logo).
Founded Tatsunoko Productions with his brothers Kenji Yoshida, and Ippei Kuri. Created both the animated and manga (Japanese comic) versions of _Mach Go Go Go (1967)_, AKA _Speed Racer (1967)_.
