Exclusive: Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment-owned Halcyon Studios has signed industry vet Dara Cohen as Vice President of Scripted Entertainment.
Cohen will oversee development of Halcyon’s future projects, which include an untitled James Ellroy project and reimaginings of Ernest Hemingway’s Old Man and the Sea and Gary Sherman’s Death Line, revealed recently on its debut development slate.
She will work closely with President of Scripted Entertainment Matt Loze and joins a fast-growing Halcyon executive team.
The indie, which is headed up by David Ellender, was formed last year when Chicken Soup acquired the assets and IP of Sonar Entertainment.
Cohen has 25 years experience across development, production and programing, with past credits including DIY Networks’ The Deck Doctor and Lifetime’s Ring of Fire: The June Carter Cash Story. She has most recently been consulting for A+E, History and Lifetime and used to work for Island...

Exclusive: Anonymous Content has put in development an untitled drama series about the early days of Imsa (International Motor Sports Association) auto racing from writer-producer Vinnie Wilhelm. Anonymous Content will serve as the studio on the project.
The series is set against the beginning days of Imsa auto racing in the early 80s, at a time when several drivers formed a massive drug smuggling operation just to finance their racing. It explores the subculture of competitive racing, the business of racing, and the lengths some drivers will go to in order to maintain a competitive edge.

Revolution Studios is ramping up in New York by hiring Dara Cohen as a development and production executive and upping Stephanie Langhoff to the position of creative executive. Cohen will be responsible for overseeing production and development and for bringing new projects into the company. Langhoff, a former assistant to Revolution partner and East Coast operations chief Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, will supervise television on the East Coast. Cohen previously consulted for USA Cable Entertainment and Sci Fi Channel's Saturday Night Movies and was director of longform programing at USA Networks.
