- Dianne Neufeld is known for Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains (1982), Outtakes (1977) and Inventing Grace, Touching Glory (2003).
- Was the B.C. Film Commissioner from 1985 to 1995.
- There's nothing more exciting than to be at the beginning of something, anything, you name it... After you have it, after it exists...that's a more difficult place to be.
- British Columbia took the bullet for 'runaway' production when it wasn't deserved. I think what happened was California didn't realize television production was leaving until it was too late. And then they needed an enemy to joust at...we were the closest foreign location. But production went all over the world and to many of the other States like South Carolina ... U.S. Entertainment is a 70 billion dollar a year business, B.C. did a billion in 2001, that's hardly a gash in their side.
- One of the more unique experiences for me as the Film Commissioner was when Tom Selleck came to Vancouver. He was a big name in the early 1980s and the B.C. business was young, so we were all trying to sell the industry to government. I was on a bus full of MPs from Victoria who were all excited to meet Tom on-set the of Runaway (1984) -- however Tom had no idea he was about to be mobbed. It happened in split seconds...I get off the bus first only a few yards ahead of 30 MPs who all brought gifts... I find Tom, rush to him and in a breath say something like: 'Tom...I'm the film commissioner, and these are officials from the B.C. government'... Tom didn't miss a beat, he got-it, stood up and started shaking hands, smiling and talking to all these civil servants.
