When a property runs long enough, there are adaptations and versions of the characters that become infamous for being so off the mark and bizarre. There’s that time when Dennis Hopper played Bowser as a politician with silly hair in a dinosaur dystopia. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles once went on tour as a rock band. The United States made a Godzilla movie so bad that the monster was later killed within seconds in a fight against the true Godzilla. The animated series Captain N: The Game Master once introduced Alucard as a radical skateboarding teenager with sunglasses.
Captain N also gave us a terrible take on Mega Man, making him an annoying toddler-looking guy with a froggy voice. That isn’t the most infamous version of the Blue Bomber…even if he wasn’t even blue. No, that honor goes to the character on the cover of the first Mega Man game.

Saturday Night Live went with Donald Trump’s hawking of Bibles for its cold open, with James Austin Johnson returning as the former president to make the pitch.
It was another case of the show trying to satirize something that hardly needs rewriting.
“That’s right, it’s Easter. The time of year when I compare myself to Jesus Christ,” Johnson as Trump said. “That’s just the thing I do now, and people seem to be Ok with it. I’m going to keep doing it. If you think that this is a bad look, imagine how weird it would be if I started selling Bibles. Well, I’m selling Bibles.”
“Sounds like a joke, and in many ways it is, but it’s also very real. As you know, I love Bible. It’s my favorite look.”

Liam Neeson has a very particular set of skills, which apparently does not include embodying the Easter Bunny. In a skit on The Late Show, the actor auditioned to play the furry holiday rabbit, bringing an undeniable intensity to the popular verse, “Here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the bunny trail. Hippity hoppity, Easter’s on its way.”
When asked to keep it light, with the producer reminding Neeson the character is for children, Neeson explained, “Do you understand what’s happening here? He’s hopping down the bunny trail,...

This week talk about accusations of Disney gouging its customers. We talk about viral reports of family trips costing over $13,000, reports of the $200 lightsabers from Galaxy’s Edge breaking down, and the usual grousing about Genie Plus and upcharges. In other news, we talk about the Disney Proxy Battle, Joe Rohde possibly returning to Imagineering, Frozen voice actor Josh Gad getting social media blowback and… the Easter Bunny coming to Magic Kingdom.

Mark Gustafson, the stop-motion specialist who won an Oscar this year for his work on Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, died Thursday. He was 63.
Del Toro announced the news Friday on social media, posting: “I admired Mark Gustafson, even before I met him. A pillar of stop motion animation — a true artist. A compassionate, sensitive and mordantly witty man. A Legend — and a friend that inspired and gave hope to all around him. … Today we honor and miss him.”
The Oregonian newspaper also reported his death.
Gustafson also worked on the stop-motion California Raisins characters early in his career and served as animation director on Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009), another Oscar-nominated stop-motion film.
When del Toro took on the task of retelling Carlo Collodi’s 1883 fable about a wooden puppet who longs to be a real boy, he tapped Gustafson as his directing partner. The duo also earned BAFTA and Annie awards,...

Santa Claus is and will always be the face of Yuletide. He’s an old, polite, white-bearded man who gives everyone gifts; what’s not to love there? So, it is safe to say no one can replace the good old Santa Claus. However, there are some Christmas figures that do not nearly get as much love from the world as Santa, despite being as interesting, if not more, than Father Christmas. One such character is Jack Frost.
While technically not a ‘Christmas figure,’ Jack Frost has always been associated with the festival. He’s essentially the face of winter, the personification of cold, and the guy who gives everyone the frosty fingers and snowed-in days. The first recorded mention of Jack Frost in literature was in 1734 in a book called “Round About Our Coal Fire, or Christmas Entertainments.”

The new season finds the Calvin family back in the North Pole as Scott (Tim Allen) continues his role as Santa Claus after his retirement plans were thwarted when he failed to find a worthy successor in the first season. Now that Scott and his family have successfully saved Christmas, Scott turns his focus towards training his son Cal to take over the family business as Santa Claus, but there are a few things standing in his way.
In addition to Tim Allen, the second season of The Santa Clauses will also feature Elizabeth Mitchell as Mrs. Claus/Carol, Elizabeth Allen-Dick as Sandra Calvin Claus, Austin Kane as Cal Calvin Claus, and Devin Bright as Santa’s elf bestie Noel. The mood isn’t entirely cheery as Tim Allen faces some serious competition in the trailer for the second season of Disney+’s The Santa Clauses.
This holiday-themed series returns to the platform with its two-episode season premiere set for Nov. 8, following the first season that launched last year. Eric Stonestreet joins the cast as Magnus Anta, aka the Mad Santa, who was in charge of the North Pole in the 14th century and aims to challenge the current reign of Scott Calvin (Allen) and his family.
“I am Santa, the rightful Santa,” Stonestreet exclaims in the footage released Tuesday. “The Santa who occupies the North Pole now is a fraud!” He adds, “Revenge will be swift — and sweet. I am Santa, after all.”
At a different point in the trailer, Mrs. Claus (Elizabeth Mitchell) is seen brandishing a futuristic weapon that goes by an intimidating name. “I’m a...

Even though we're not done with Halloween, Disney isn't wasting anytime digging back into the world of Santa Claus with a second season of the Disney+ original series "The Santa Clauses." Tim Allen is back as jolly old Saint Nick, and now he's focusing on turning all the happenings at the North Pole into a family business. Elizabeth Mitchell is still as supportive as ever as Mrs. Claus, Cal Calvin Claus (Austin Kane) is preparing to eventually become Santa Claus at some point with a little Santa training program, and Sandra Calvin Claus is helping out in the background by taking care of the reindeer and whatnot.
Of course, getting the North Pole in shape for Christmas isn't their biggest concern; there's trouble brewing in the form of another Santa Claus. Eric Stonestreet ("Modern Family") is playing Magnus Antas or The Mad Santa. Apparently, he thinks Scott Calvin's version...

In 1989 Orion Pictures, along with Nelson Entertainment released Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. The film was widely loved, and still is, to this day by both critics and fans alike. Because the film was so popular, spawned tons of merchandise and even had two spinoff shows…a sequel was inevitable.

This article contains spoilers for the "Barry" finale.
"Barry" has always delved deep into the psychology of the main character, and the fourth and final season continued exploring Barry's mind even after he died in the series finale. He has always had competing desires in his double life of killing and performing. In his life as an actor, Berkman played the role of a good-hearted soldier who saw some bad things but was ultimately a good guy. He killed to maintain this facade, but when he got caught for those killings, his fake identity collapsed.
Starting a new life as a fugitive, Barry had a son and gave himself a whole new audience to stage his heroism for. He always hoped the world would see him as a stand-up guy rather than knowing the real him. The hitman might not have lived to see it, but he got exactly what...

American animation is in an odd place. For creators, directors, and animators, the overriding cultural stigma against animation — that it's just for kids — probably provides a great deal of frustration. That's a joke even the Oscars make. It's a perception that limits the medium and reduces any potentially heady thematic material to something bland and easily digestible. Any material directed towards adults shifts into a mélange of innuendo and pop culture references, and children are condescended to in much the same way.
But even the movies that seem tailor-made for children's sensibilities get lost in the shuffle sometimes. 2012's "Rise of the Guardians," for instance, had a slam-dunk premise and an epic scale. It was a movie that took the fears of children seriously while also providing wildly entertaining set pieces, with beautiful animation and a star-studded cast. And yet, according to The Numbers, it didn't even make its production budget back domestically.

As an actor, Chris Pine has a particular talent. When it comes to playing dazzling, cocksure characters, Pine is a natural. He's played his share of cads and scoundrels, but he never comes across as unlikeable or villainous. It certainly helps that Pine is possessed of movie matinee idol good looks, allowing his charming smiles to inform the characters he plays.
In Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley's new film "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves," Pine plays Edgin Darvis, a former bard in a fantasy kingdom who turns to thievery to survive. He is raising a teenage daughter named Kira (Chloe Coleman) and, following the death of his wife, forms a coalition of thieves to steal from the rich.
At the beginning of the film, Edgin is in prison with his best friend Holga Kilgore (Michelle Rodriguez) after a heist of theirs went awry. The two have an elaborate ploy to escape,...

A movie critic's job is to offer insightful, observant, but overall subjective opinions to help us decide if we're going to enjoy a film. It's not important to be right about whether one is good or not, but noting a film's overall quality is a tool we often take for granted. On the flip side, audiences aren't always "right" either, passing up great movies on the way to something else.
There are lots of reasons genuinely great movies can end up tanking at the box office. Issues like a terrible -- or worse, ignorant -- marketing plan by the studio, as "Crimson Peak" endured; or, as Schwarzenegger realized with the release of "The Last Action Hero," poorly timing the film's release date can lead to disaster. And sometimes the project's topic is something a general audience isn't going to vibe with, leading to niche and classic works that are still worth remembering.

If the fanfare following the announcement of "Deadpool 3" was any indication, people love Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. The Australian actor had only a few film credits to his name before being cast as one of Marvel's most beloved comic book icons, but his ferocious portrayal redefined the character's place in pop culture forever. That being said, like how Wolverine has evolved throughout his many appearances, Jackman has several of his own dimensions as an actor.
Beginning his career in television and theater before hitting it big as a studio star, Jackman has played an incredibly diverse array of characters in many different genres. He has proven his prowess as a leading actor in comedies and dramas, animation and live-action, musicals and not-so-musicals. He has even managed to do something very few other actors have accomplished -- hit it big as a superhero and then slowly morph into an awards contender.

Making a movie requires a lot of time, effort, and talent. But more importantly, making a movie requires a lot of money. No filmmaker wants their movie to flop, but none more so than studios whose very existence depends on their releases putting butts in seats. While studios have always put their bets on tentpole movies to produce good profit margins, because of the popularity of superheroes and other big-budget franchises, it seems that studios are putting less focus on smaller films that would ensure they wouldn't suffer too much due to their modest budgets (even if they failed). As budgets have gotten bigger, so too has the pressure for these films to not only break even but to break box office records.
Filmmakers face serious career problems when their movies flop with audiences, as a failure or, worse, a string of failures, could lead to a dream project being squashed.

Typically, Hollywood rewards sequels that are more or less similar -- if not complete retreads -- of the original. Ivan Reitman's "Ghostbusters 2" is, beat for beat, very similar to his "Ghostbusters." James Cameron's "Terminator 2: Judgement Day" has the exact same premise as his "The Terminator." A short span of brainstorming can produce myriad other examples.
As such, it's something of a minor miracle that Pete Hewitt's "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey" is as bonkers as it is, and its predecessor was already plenty wild. In the previous film, Stephen Herek's "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" (1989), the title characters were given a time-traveling phone booth from the future so that they may kidnap various historical figures and present them as their high school history final. If they failed, they would flunk out of history, be separated into different schools, and they'd have to break up their band Wyld Stallyns.

President Joe Biden‘s speech was interrupted by the Easter Bunny at a White House event. Saturday Night Live celebrated Easter with a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny (Bowen Yang) and a handful of cast members who appeared to “share their hopes” for spring.
“It’s really me the Easter Bunny,” Yang exclaimed in a furry costume. “Either that, or you’re at Coachella and the ‘shrooms are kicking in.”
But the Easter Bunny wasn’t alone for long. Kate McKinnon appeared reprising her role as Dr. Anthony Fauci who explained that “like Jesus,” Covid numbers had “risen again.” “If you’re vaccinated, you’re going to be fine.

It’s Easter weekend and so it is that “SNL” kicked off its latest episode with an Easter-themed cold open. Well, ostensibly, as the Easter theme really just provided a different way for “SNL” to run through a grab bag of celebrity impressions and mildly amusing jokes about recent events without any real point other than “hey, remember this thing that happened?”
Also yes, James Austin Johnson’s Trump showed up because, we don’t know, apparently there is a law that says Trump is the only president “SNL” is allowed to notice anymore? But, Bowen Yang played the Easter Bunny, and he’s always great, and Cecily Strong’s impression of Marjorie Taylor Greene at least had some teeth, which was fun.
So, Yang’s Easter Bunny started it off with some jokes about how maybe he’s actually at Coachella on drugs, inroduces himself as the “freakiest man-sized...

On the second day of Passover, halfway through Ramadan, the second night of Coachella’s first weekend, and just hours before Easter Sunday, Saturday Night Live kicked off with the Easter Bunny himself, a timely overeager hipster reference and yet another bloated political cameo skit.
Does nobody think to edit these cold openings? They just get fatter, longer and go nowhere.
“It’s really me the Easter Bunny,” said Bowen Yang in a full furry costume at the promising top of the show. “Either that, or you’re at Coachella and the ‘shrooms are kicking in,” the often perfectly placed cast member added, surrounded by an unfortunate department store-quality set designed to moan “warm Halloween.”
“Remember, the spirit of Easter is not about candy, or eggs or even bunnies,” Yang quipped of the notion of the creature overseeing the watered-down pagan Spring festival that contemporary Easter is for many. “It’s about renewal and rebirth,...

The “Fast & Furious” franchise has made it very clear — through nine films, a theatrical spinoff series and roughly $6 billion at the worldwide box office — that family is everything. Perhaps the most undeniable member of that family is Sung Kang, the actor whom fans single-handedly resurrected through social media fanfare.
Kang played the role of mechanic and street racer Han Lue for five films in the action anthology; his character met an untimely end at his introduction and appeared via flashbacks in subsequent movies. As Universal Pictures ramped up production on its latest installment, “F9,” moviegoers began tweeting #JusticeForHan, demanding another chapter for the formidable teammate of Vin Diesel. Justice was served.
“Everybody wants a Han in their life. He’s an older brother who will protect you and base you on fundamental cowboy principles. Who you are inside,” Kang tells Variety.

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen kicked off the Easter 2021 festivities early. On Saturday, March 27, a little more than a week before the holiday, the two shared photos from an outdoor celebration, where the "All of Me" singer dressed up as the Easter Bunny. John posted on his Instagram a video showing him wearing a masked white furry rabbit costume while dancing with the couple's 4-year-old daughter Luna Stephens on a deck adorned with a carrot-shaped balloon display, other pastel-colored balloons and Easter eggs and other holiday-themed decor. She recognized him through his dance moves and giggled at the realization. "Haha!" she said, pointing at...

The 'Easter Bunny' is a legendary egg-giving symbol of new life:
People around the world follow the tradition of coloring eggs and giving baskets of candy.
In a time of celebration and feasting, many traditional 'Easter' games and customs developed, including egg rolling, egg tapping, pace egging and egg decorating.
Brit chocolate company Cadbury manufactured their first Easter egg in 1875.

The Claypool Lennon Delirium conjure a demented fish-human showdown in their psychedelic “Little Fishes” video.
Animator Micah Buzan uses the song’s intro lyrics as a springboard, particularly Les Claypool’s visions of men “gobbling” up mercury-heavy fish and the pollutant settling “in their soft and supple brains.” Using those elements — men, fish and brains (along with random cameos from an Easter Bunny) — the visual expands into its own surreal narrative that culminates in a battle via fish-hook.

Lobo is coming to Krypton season 2 to frag some bastiches. Here's everything you need to know about The Main Man.
Krypton season 2 introduces...I was going to say “most unexpected,” but Adam Strange is already here so I guess Lobo is more like one of the most unexpected characters on the show. Lobo! The Main Man! The Last Czarnian! An unkillable force of the universe with no morals and a hunger for big bounties! But there’s a big question with his inclusion in an otherwise serious show:
Are they really doing this?
Lobo is a bit of a gag character. He’s an unstoppable intergalactic bounty hunter, originally introduced by Roger Silfer, Keith Giffen, and Mike DeCarlo in the pages of Omega Men #3 back in 1983. His original background was massively different from what it would eventually become, but the hyper-competent, amoral bounty hunter element was there from the start.

Over the past few weeks, the folks at Orion have released a series of posters for their upcoming Child’s Play remake. In addition to stomping the Easter Bunny and giving it to your momma in a couple of holiday-themed posters, we’ve seen Chucky obliterating Woody from Toy Story. Halloween might be a ways off, but next month is shaping up to be a real treat for horror fans. Plenty of studios have been keen on bringing old and long-forgotten franchises back from the dead, and Orion Pictures is looking to do something similar by releasing Child’s Play, a remake and reboot of the 1988 film of the same name.
With director Lars Klevberg and producers Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg at the helm, this new entry is looking to bring a modern twist to the franchise. Plot details are scarce right now, but it seems like Chucky – the series’ children’s toy turned serial killer – will be an out-of-control robot doll, as opposed to the possessed version seen in the original run of films.
Leading up to its release, Orion Pictures has been poking fun at other toy-centric movies, and their latest poster is no exception. As you can see below,...

We’re currently just a over a week away from the release of Detective Pikachu, a live-action video game adaptation with some surprisingly strong buzz behind it. That last part probably can’t be applied to the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie, but now that the first trailer is finally with us, you can at least judge Paramount’s take on the speedy blue hero for yourself.
That being said, the promo is already getting some heavy down votes online. In particular, many fans of the series are taking issue with the title character’s latest design, who’s voiced by Ben Schwartz of Parks and Recreation fame. Indeed, watching this zany new footage, it’s hard not to be reminded of the live-action 2017 Woody Woodpecker movie, or even the 2011 Easter Bunny film Hop, complete with James Marsden as the straight man sidekick.

The Child’s Play marketing team have definitely had some fun serving up seasonal posters for this June’s horror reboot over the past few months. Chucky starred in some chilling Christmas cards last December, and just yesterday he celebrated 4/20! Now, continuing on with the tradition, the killer doll has a grisly encounter with the Easter Bunny on the promo art seen down below.
The creepy image features the tyrannical toy towering over the unseen chocolate-giving rabbit, with a smear of blood and smashed Easter eggs behind him. This style of poster – the obscured Chucky part, not the bunny-killing part – is typical of the promotion for Child’s Play, as we didn’t get a proper look at this new take on the iconic slasher villain for the longest time. In fact, it was only last week’s second trailer that unveiled him in the flesh plastic.
Now, the tactic...

We want candy and we want it now! When we think about Easter we think about the Easter Bunny, springtime, hunting for eggs, going to mass and of course, the Sunday brunch to end all brunches. The main thing we fantasize about when it comes to this holiday however is all of the tasty candy that will hopefully be in our Easter baskets. Whether you celebrate the religious aspect of Easter and have therefore been counting down the days until you've fulfilled your Lenten promise, or you just love the holiday for its pastel color options and delicious foods, Easter is something we love to celebrate every year. The real question is, what Easter candy do you dream of eating first thing this Sunday? We know...
