President Obama joined other Americans in voicing concern on Twitter Wednesday, stating he prefers the “classic” arrangement over a green pea guacamole recipe proposed by the New York Times. In this video inspired by Hsbc’s “Thank You” films and Hollywood’s awards season, the gregarious Talde grows sweetly humbled while reflecting on how Nahabedian’s simple acts of patience transformed his career.Nahabedian’s generosity set off a ripple effect of good graces for Talde, who’s grown from burgeoning talent into budding icon. He’d go on to work under Masaharu Morimoto and restaurateur Stephen Starr at NYC’s Morimoto and be recruited for season 4 of Top Chef. Kool Shen as Vilko and Isabelle Huppert as Maud: 'He is a swindler but not violent.' When I met Catherine Breillat for breakfast the morning after her New York Film Festival Us premiere of Abuse Of Weakness (Abus De Faiblesse) at Jean-Georges Vongerichten's Nougatine on Central Park West, it had been a dozen years since we last spoke. This time we discussed how to twist Isabelle Huppert's arms, Bad Love in a lighthouse with Naomi Campbell, colours, numbers, and clocks.
Maud (Isabelle Huppert) sees a man being interviewed in a talk show on TV and can't take her eyes off him. She wants to cast this man, Vilko Piran (Kool Shen), in her next film. With Abuse Of Weakness, Breillat follows up brilliantly on the fairy tale promises of her previous two films after her stroke, The Sleeping Beauty (La Belle Endormie, 2010) and Bluebeard (Barbe Bleue, 2009). A sleeping beauty,...

A sneak-peek at an upcoming episode of Kimchi Chronicles. Courtesy PBS. Marja Vongerichten, wife of three-star Michelin chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, may not have culinary degrees, or enough James Beard Awards to wallpaper a loft. Yet. Because when it comes to cooking Korean, even her husband can’t compete with her fare. Born outside Seoul to an unmarried Korean woman and an American serviceman in 1976, Marja was put up for adoption at age three. She grew up in Northern Virginia, not knowing her biological mother, but harboring a faint desire to reconnect with her roots. Just days shy of her 19th birthday, Marja came to New York to reunite with her birth mother for the first time in 17 years. Naturally, one of the first things they did was eat. “It’s how Koreans show their love,” she says.

Although the historic Hotel Washington, in Washington, D.C., reopened as a W hotel back in July, at tonight’s big opening blowout, the space is officially being christened as the District’s new “It” place to drink, dine, and be decadent. Hotel Washington has long held a special place in Washingtonians’ hearts—it opened in 1917 just two blocks from the White House, and as the city grew around the president’s mansion, the hotel played host to a revolving door of Hollywood stars (from John Wayne to Tom Cruise), politicians (former Treasury secretary Paul O’Neill and former Speaker of the House John McCormack both lived there), and a variety of other notable figures (such as Duke Ellington and Willie Nelson). Lenny Kravitz, Amber Rose, and Adrian Grenier at the Good Hair premiere in New York City. From PatrickMcMullan.com. Who and what were up and down last night and why. ↑ Brett Favre: Monday Night Football was as big as it gets last night as TVs around the country tuned in to watch the former Green Bay Packers quarterback put on his purple No. 4 Vikings jersey and defeat the Wisconsin Cheese Heads, making him the first player in history to beat every team in the N.F.L. But perhaps most poignant was the fact that during the game, the players and the referees sported patches of pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, a topic that hits particularly close to home for Favre, since his wife, Deanna, is a breast-cancer survivor. ↓ Having to Eat Our Feelings: As foodies everywhere mourned the demise of Gourmet, a select few drowned...

Photograph by Jake Chessum David Rockwell breezes through 500,000 square feet of steel skeleton as if the 102-degree Las Vegas sun weren't baking him alive. It has been six weeks since the designer last visited Crystals, the high-end retail arm of CityCenter, Las Vegas's $8.5 billion city-within-a-city. A collaboration among eight architects, it will debut this December after three tumultuous years of construction and near-bankruptcy. In an ambitious attempt to infuse a small dose of highbrow into the city of kitsch, Rockwell's sprawling public interior for Daniel Libeskind's angular structure will be as much MoMA as it is Central Park -- suspended gardens, a floor painting made of flowers, and a...

Bosses at a New York restaurant owned by Robert De Niro have denied plans to replace their head chef - after the cook threatened to take him to court.
Managers at De Niro's Ago restaurant reportedly intended to replace Executive Chef Mirco del Vecchio with Jean-Georges Vongerichten in January amid poor reviews from food critics.
