David Geister(I)
- Actor
David Geister is an artist whose love of the American landscape and his
country's history is celebrated in much of his work. He works in a
variety of mediums . . . landscapes, portraits and re-creations of
historic events, painted in oil on canvas; pen and ink drawings of
historic sites; watercolor sketches done in a 19th century style;
miniature sculptures in resin, clay or pewter. As a child growing up
within sight of the beautiful Mississippi and St. Croix rivers in
Prescott, Wisconsin, David's spare time was spent reading Mark Twain
and Bruce Catton and drawing whenever he could. Four years of service
in the United States Marine Corps left David with a deep appreciation
of the grand drama of American history and a need to tell that story.
David has worked for several years as an illustrator and has painted commissioned pieces for an ever-growing number of private collectors. His work as a costumed living history interpreter at Historic Fort Snelling in Minnesota led to his portrayal of frontier army officer and artist Seth Eastman in the award winning Twin Cities Public Television documentary "Seth Eastman: Painting the Dakota". David lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota with his wife Pat and stepdaughters Eva and Allison.
