Alex Carr
Havas Worldwide, formerly Euro Rscg, has appointed Alex Carr as managing director of its Sydney office.
The appointment is the first senior announcement since the agency rebranded in September 2012 this year.
Carr joins Havas from Saatchi & Saatchi where he held the role of executive director for the past six years, including heading up the agency’s Kraft business.
The rebrand, which saw both the Melbourne and Sydney offices rebadged as Havas Worldwide also coincided with the launch of Project Change – an agency initiative to bring positive change to the world – where staff took to the streets to give out free cookies to consumers.

Staff at ad agency Euro Rscg have marked thair rebranding as Havas Worldwide by baking cookies and selling them to commuters for the price of a smile.
The local initiative comes as the network undergoes a global rebrand across its 316 offices. Locally that sees Havas’ Euro Rscg agencies rebadged as Havas Worldwide Sydney and Havas Worldwide Melbourne.
Sister branding agency The Face and PR consultancy Red Agency will retain their brand names within the wider Havas Worldwide Australia network. Ad agency Host and PR agency One Green Bean, which were bought by Havas in July, are not part of the rebrand.

Virgin Mobile has added Euro Rscg to its roster with a new brand campaign to break next week.
The move comes just four months after Vodafone parted ways with Euro’s sister agency Host.
Euro found its way onto the roster after jointly pitching for the evolution of the “Fair Go For All” brand work with PR agency One Green Bean, which was co-founded by Host boss Anthony Freedman.
Mojo – which created the first stage of the Fair Go For All positioning with Robin Da Hood - remains on the roster though, Virgin Mobile said.
Virgin Mobile’s marketing director, David Scribner, who joined in April, said, “We took the opportunity to review the way in which we work with our agencies and gave each the opportunity to pitch for this brand update. Euro Rscg Sydney managing director Julie Burke has left the agency.
Burke, a former Bmf group account director and head of planning at Fallon Minneapolis, joined Euro in March, and led the rejuvenation of Euro’s culture in the year she ran the agency.
She resigned six weeks ago without a job to go to.
Euro Rscg Group Australia CEO Anthony Gregorio has stepped into Burke’s role during the search for her replacement.
Gregorio said: “Julie is a fantastic operator. And we’re disappointed to see her go. I respect her immensely and wish her all the best for the future.”
Burke was unavailable for comment at the time of writing.
The well-respected Burke joined Euro from Fallon. Prior to that she was chief strategy officer at Carmichael Lynch in the Us. She also had spells at Lowe Hunt, Bwm, McCann Erickson and Bartle Bogle Hegarty in New York.
