Los Angeles-based Syrian director and producer Sam Kadi, who helmed the doc “Little Gandhi” about the life and death of young Syrian peace activist Ghiyath Matar and produced the Oscar-shortlisted animation film “Lamya’s Poem,” has signed for representation with management company Bohemia Group.
Kadi’s first feature was the 2012 indie immigrant drama “The Citizen,” starring Egyptian actor Khaled Nabawy as a Lebanese immigrant who wins a green card through the U.S. lottery system and arrives in New York to claim his documents on Sept. 10, 2001. The drama, also starring Cary Elwes, then follows the protagonist’s hellish 10-year path to citizenship in post-9/11 America, including his detainment by homeland security and his deportation trial.

The Susan Ferris-run company has joined with Hugh Cha, Jae Yong Lee and Jay Jung to create Bohemia Group Korea, a management and production company based in Seoul.

The novels are set in South Carolina and center on a trendy 30-year-old who unravels mysteries in the tradition of Murder, She Wrote.
“I stumbled across book one of the Liz Talbot Mysteries a couple of years ago at the L.A. Times Festival of Books,” Bohemia Group Originals CEO Susan Ferris said. “By the time I had finished it, I ordered three more. Susan Boyer’s books are humorous, charming and light-hearted murder mysteries, set in South Carolina. Each of the books are binge-worthy page turners which I can’t wait to see on TV.”

Bohemia Group, a talent management company headquartered in Los Angeles, has opened an office in Berlin, Germany.
The Berlin office will “add to the global footprint of the company and will further support Bohemia’s global growth strategy,” according to a statement. It will be led by Alexandra Surer, who joins from Friends Connection Agency, a talent agency in Berlin representing international talent.
“The decision to expand our presence into the Berlin market was a logical step in our business growth strategy,” said Susan Ferris, Bohemia’s CEO. “The area is rich with diverse talent from around the world, and Bohemia will now have the opportunity to further expand opportunities for our global clients, as well as the chance to expand our abilities in servicing current and future markets.”

Former Z-Boys skater Jay Adams died after suffering a massive heart attack Thursday. He was 53.

Adams died while vacationing with his wife in Mexico, his manager and friend Susan Ferris told CNN. “We are completely shocked,” said Ferris, who noted that Adams had not had any previous heart issues and that he had long been completely sober. "This is a great loss to skateboarding," Ferris said, "a true legend died."
Stacy Peralta, the fellow Z-Boys member who directed Dogtown and Z-Boyz took to Twitter to share the sad news of Adams' unexpected passing.
"I just received the terribly sad news that Jay Adams passed away last night due to a massive heart attack, send your love," the post read.
In the 70s, the Z-Boys (Zephyr Competition Team) became nationally known for their daring skate tricks. In the 2005 Lords of Dogtown movie, Adams was played by Emile Hirsch.
