Michaela Coel, Lenny Abrahamson’s “Normal People” and “The Masked Singer” were among the winners of the U.K.’s Royal Television Society (Rts) Craft & Design Awards.
Coel won the 2020 Rts special award for her groundbreaking BBC/HBO show “I May Destroy You.” In presenting the award to Coel, the judges said: “This piece sits in the true spirit of the craft and design Awards. The astonishing level of detail in all aspects of this production was humbling to see. A truly distinctive, highly creative and exemplary piece of work, in which the winner had also corralled outstanding demonstrations of expert craft skills across all the production disciplines.”
Lenny Abrahamson won best director of drama for smash hit BBC/Hulu show “Normal People.” “Beautiful, stylish and confident. This was the work of an elite director, skilfully providing the space for his actors to shine and their chemistry to transmit through the lens.

The Doctor Who series 8 disc release features a wealth of bonus material including the terrific Earth Conquest doc. Here's Pete's verdict...
If you’re reading this review, then there’s a good chance that you’ve both seen the twelve episodes that make up Peter Capaldi’s debut series and know exactly what we’re going to say about them. Series 8 of Doctor Who has been hailed by many as the best in several years, and one of the best since the show’s revival in 2005. It’s a verdict that we here at Den of Geek find it hard to argue with, frankly. From the light-hearted opener Deep Breath to the action-packed and slightly bonkers finale Death In Heaven, with thought-provoking episodes like Listen and Kill The Moon along the way, Series 8 has been a confident start to a brand new era for the world’s longest-running sci-fi programme.

Doctor Who Confidential - a popular behind-the-scenes companion series to the sci-fi hit - was axed by BBC Three back in 2011, with channel controller Zai Bennett citing his desire to move away from "extension shows" in order to focus on original programming.
Just three years later and the UK television landscape is a very different place - Bennett resigned from his post in April, following the news that BBC Three is to become an online-only entity.
So when Doctor Who Extra - a behind-the-scenes companion series to the sci-fi hit, now starring Peter Capaldi - was announced last week, one would be forgiven for assuming that the BBC was reviving Confidential in all but name.
The first edition of Extra is now available online - it seems that 'exclusive to iPlayer' is indeed the new BBC Three - so is it just Confidential rebranded... and perhaps more importantly, is it any good?...

One of the UK's most prestigious historical landmarks played host to the Doctor Who production team last night, with cast and crew filming at Stonehenge in Wiltshire. A report on the proceedings follows below.
Well it certainly was a mad thing to go to Stonehenge and see the filming, but I can't tell you how amazing it was seeing the Neolithic stones list up in the mist laden night sky. This is going to be such an iconic and epic scene in the finale. I can't wait to see it! We arrived there about 8.30, and there was nothing to see, lights had been placed around the stones, but hadn't been switched on. Over the next hour or so dozens of cars arrived, a coach full of extras and [special effects technician] Danny Hargreaves amongst others. Things kicked off around 11pm with Matt, Karen (in that dressing gown again) and River Song all rehearsing...
