NCIS star Michael Weatherly has been involved in a few subtle love storylines during his time on the show. But there was one subplot in particular that hit too close to home for the actor.

Weatherly’s Tony Dinozzo has had a few potential love interests in the show. One of his first and most notable onscreen partners was Scottie Thompson’s Jeanne Benoit.
The pair met under unique circumstances in season 4, with Dinozzo being undercover at the time and Benoit being the daughter of a notorious arms dealer. Dinozzo and Benoit would indulge in a passionate relationship before parting ways due to their clashing goals. Thompson’s Benoit would make her return to the series in season 5, with her final appearance being in season 13.

Earlier this week, we learned that Adam Wingard will no longer direct the Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire sequel. He previously helmed Godzilla vs. Kong, but cut his teeth on smaller action movies like You're Next and The Guest.
Today, we bring word from scooper @MyTimeToShineH that Wingard is in the running to helm Spider-Man 4 for Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures.
His potential hiring would almost certainly divide opinions, though it's worth noting that Wingard currently has plans to helm a new action thriller, Onslaught, which is prepping for a fall shoot. That alone likely takes him out of the running.
The director also seems far more interested in finally bringing Thundercats to the big screen.
"Simon [Barrett] and I are still actively working on the script," he said earlier this year. "We finished our last draft basically right when I was going into production on [Godzilla x...

Picture two protests involving the American flag.
In one of them, a star NFL quarterback kneels during the singing of the national anthem. The reason? To call attention to the true, real plight of Black Americans whose lives seem not to matter as much as white ones — part of the unfinished business of American democracy. For this, he is booed, vilified, and effectively banned from the NFL. He never works as a quarterback again.

Endeavor Group Holdings posted a 16% increase in total revenue in the first quarter thanks to the WWE-ufc merger, though the company’s divisions outside of Owned Sports Properties each saw downturns.
Total revenue came in at $1.85 billion, with the rise from a year ago largely due to the influx from the WWE, which joined with UFC to create Tko Group in a deal last September. Revenue in the Owned Sports Properties division shot up 94%. Endeavor controls 53.6% of Tko.
Net losses reached 46 cents a share, compared with a profit of 3 cents a share in the year-ago period. Adjusted Ebitda was $374.1 million.
Endeavor last month announced it is planning to go private in a deal valued at $13 billion. That transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2025.
Revenue in the Experiences & Rights division fell 7% to $744.9 million, with the June 2023 sale of Img Academy taking a toll along with the timing...

A box office powerhouse, director Adam Wingard’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has raked in $547 million at the worldwide box office since its debut in theaters back in March, and we’ve learned this morning that the Monsterverse mashup is headed home next week.
You’ll be able to own Godzilla x Kong on Digital beginning Tuesday, May 14!
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire sees the legendary Titans Godzilla and Kong team up to face a world-ending threat so terrifying that neither of them could survive it alone.
Meagan wrote in her review of the new movie for Bloody Disgusting, “Wingard continues the kaiju spectacle with the latest Legendary Monsterverse crossover event, this time injecting an even greater sense of adventure and silliness. It’s the type of epic-sized popcorn movie that unleashes nonstop monster brawls and tongue-in-cheek humor in equal measure.”

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire premiered on March 29, 2024, as the most recent installment in the MonsterVerse franchise. The movie received mixed reviews from critics and is one of the installments with the lowest score, but fans are amazed, as the movie became a box office hit! The movie was directed by Adam Wingard, whom we have recently talked about as the potential director of a live-action ThunderCats movie, which was rumored to be the director’s next project, following Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. But, as the most recent reports confirm, Wingard’s next project won’t be the planned ThunderCats movie, but it won’t be a sequel to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire either.
Namely, as it has been confirmed, Adam Wingard has accepted to direct an action movie, Onslaught, for A24, as the indie production company is moving up in the movie world, becoming...

Fresh off the success of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and with Face/Off 2 in development, director Adam Wingard and screenwriter Simon Barrett have just set up another project together – but this isn’t another entry in an established, blockbuster-level property. Instead, Wingard and Barrett are going back to their roots with this one. Deadline reports that their new project, which is called Onslaught, is “in the vein of Wingard and Barrett’s cult classics like The Guest and You’re Next.“
As they note, Wingard and Barrett made the horror thrillers You’re Next (2011) and The Guest (2014) together before they ventured into franchise territory with the 2016 Blair Witch movie. They also made the 2010 horror film A Horrible Way to Die together, and while that movie does have its own cult following, the cult isn’t as large as the ones that follow You’re Next and The Guest.

During a hearing this week, most of the justices on the U.S. Supreme Court appeared skeptical about offering blanket immunity to a former president, which would keep them from being prosecuted for criminal acts.
On Sunday, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell reiterated that former President Donald Trump should be “held accountable” when asked about the court hearing.
On Meet the Press, host Kristin Welker asked McConnell: “Just to be clear, you said former presidents are not immune from being held accountable. Do you stand by those comments?
“That was my view, but I don’t make those decisions,” McConnell responded.
“But do you stand by those comments?” Welker pressed. “Yeah, that’s my view. But my view is my view. The court is going to decide this,” McConnell said.

Update: Supreme Court justices expressed skepticism of Donald Trump’s argument that presidents enjoy broad immunity, but they wrestled with which certain official acts could be shielded from prosecution and which would not.
There were some suggestions of sending the case base to lower courts to decide, on an individual basis, which of the charges against Trump could be deemed as private acts and subject to criminal liability. That is a prospect that could lead to further delay in Trump’s election conspiracy case, perhaps until after the 2024 election.
A number of the justices expressed concerns that their decision in the case would impact future presidents after they leave office and the extent to which they could be subject to criminal prosecution. Justice Samuel Alito hypothesized about political rivals being prosecuted and “a cycle that destabilizes the functioning of our country.”

Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire brought American audiences into the fun schlock that defined a run of the Godzilla movies which is called the “Showa era.” This era is basically what people think of when you bring up Godzilla because it’s all about the giant monster battles. The movies are also usually given an out-there, psychedelic plot that drives the monsters into fighting each other. Godzilla X Kong was a smashing success at the box office and has the studio confident in its upcoming plans for sequels. Legendary’s chairman, Mary Parent, would state, “This (box office) is certainly an exciting result. We are in a good position to continue the journey, but let’s see how Godzilla x Kong unfolds. These are early days, but we are certainly feeling good.“

The sequel was announced back in 2021, with Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire director Adam Wingard taking over the reins as director. At the time it was reported that the film would recast the leads, despite taking off from where the first film ended. However, an insider reported that Travolta and Cage might return for the sequel.

Gabby Barrett Has Never Been Afraid To Be Herself
In all aspects of life, there are people who go along with the status quo. These people never rock the boat, and always stay in their lane. Gabby Barrett is not one of these people. Barrett has made a name for herself by being herself, unapologetically so.

Our family is asking for privacy during this challenging time, as words cannot express our profound loss.”
Barrett hailed from Kingston, Jamaica. He initially played in Lee “Scratch” Perry’s house band, The Upsetters, before joining The Wailers with his brother Carlton in 1971.

Ryan O’Neal is dead at the age of 82 after years of health struggles. His son Patrick announced the news on Instagram.
O’Neal was one of the true heartthrobs of the New Hollywood era, making many who saw him in “Love Story,” “What’s Up Doc?,” “Barry Lyndon,” and “The Driver” swoon. He also was much more than a pretty face, showing a capacity to let the great directors of the era mold him into something so much more powerful than his looks. And his life was defined in some ways, also, by heartbreak and misfortune: the loss of his great love Farrah Fawcett in 2009, the years-long legal troubles of his son Redmond, the rupture of his relationship with son Griffin, and fraught connection to his daughter Tatum. He was a prickly icon, someone whose public statements and demeanor defied people to like him. But the films he leaves behind...

Any project Samara Weaving is involved with has our attention here at JoBlo and Arrow in the Head, so we’ve been anxiously waiting to hear updates on the action horror film Azrael, in which Weaving plays the title character. A great update has reached us today, as Republic Pictures has acquired the North American distribution rights to Azrael, for release through Paramount Global Distribution, in a high seven figure deal. They haven’t revealed their release plans yet, but it shouldn’t be long before they do.
Directed by E.L. Katz (The Haunting of Bly Manor) from an original screenplay by You’re Next writer Simon Barrett, Azrael has the following synopsis: In a world in which no one speaks, a devout female-led community hunts down a young woman (Weaving) who has escaped her imprisonment. Recaptured by its ruthless leaders, Azrael is to be sacrificed to pacify an ancient...

Republic Pictures, the acquisitions label under Paramount Pictures, has picked up North American rights to Azrael, an action-horror movie from the C2 Motion Picture Group.
The high-concept feature comes with a strong horror pedigree. It is toplined by Samara Weaving, a star in the genre thanks to Ready or Not and The Babysitter movie series, and was directed by E.L. Katz, a rising name who has directed episodes of Haunting of Bly Manor and Channel Zero. And it was written by Simon Barrett, the scribe behind fan favorites The Guest and You’re Next.
No distribution plans were revealed, but there is hope for a theatrical release.

Like many Bethesda RPGs, recruiting and utilizing companions is a pretty big part of the Starfield experience. Unlike some other Bethesda RPGs, though, Starfield offers both a massive collection of collectible companions and an expanded array of activities to eventually assign them to. With all of those options, things can get incredibly confusing quite quickly.
While there are sadly some parts of the Starfield companion system that remain confusing (and quite possibly broken), here is what you need to know about companion skills, how to recruit every companion, and which companions are best for various situations.
Starfield: How Do Companion Skills Work?
Companion skills in Starfield determine a companion’s effectiveness in various areas of the game. While some companion skills are exclusive to the companion, other companion skills essentially enhance your own abilities.

“The Changeling” director and executive producer Jonathan van Tulleken broke down how he captured a “painful” scene that was inspired by “The Changeling” author Victor Lavalle’s real-life experience growing up. The scene — where Apollo Kagwa’s (Lakeith Stanfield) mother is compelled to leave her young son home alone while she goes to work — plays out in the third episode of Apple TV+ series.
Fear and uncertainty describe what a viewer might experience while watching the Stanfield-led horror-drama, “The Changeling.” But those words can also describe the experience of parenthood, which is one of the backdrops upon which “The Changeling” rests.
“There’s definitely strands of postpartum depression, how difficult is to be a mother, how difficult it is to be a Black mother,” van Tulleken told TheWrap about “The Changeling,” which was adapted from Victor Lavalle’s book and carries the same title.

One of the exciting things about TV spin-offs is that there's always the potential for crossover characters and cameos, and it sounds like the upcoming "The Boys" spin-off, "Gen V," will have no shortage of them! Entertainment Weekly recently revealed that there are at least a handful of characters who will make appearances in "Gen V," ranging from some of the parent series' sillier side characters to members of The Seven themselves. The new series, which debuts later this month on Prime Video, will follow students at the prestigious Godolkin University, a college run by the villainous Vought Corporation to shape young supes into the future faces of the company. The show's collegiate setting means there probably won't be any visits from any of the Boys themselves, who try to avoid being in Vought territory if they can help it, but it doesn't exclude any of the Vought-friendly folks from showing their faces,...

Jacinda Barrett and Gabriel Macht have been married for more than two decades, and their love seems to be going strong. Macht starred on "Suits," a show that's been having a steady resurgence this summer since it hit Netflix, and this has sparked renewed interest in his love life - particularly in the fact that his wife, Jacinda Barrett, stars as his love interest in season two.
However, the pair didn't meet on the "Suits" set. They actually were already married and had a child together when Macht began his tenure on the show, which also stars Meghan Markle, in 2011. "Suits" also wasn't even the first time Macht and Barrett appeared on screen together; they both had roles in the 2009 film "Middle Men." Both Macht and Barrett have their own acting careers, with Barrett appearing in "Bridget Jones's Diary: The Edge of Reason," "The Namesake," and, more recently, "Hide and Seek.

If you're just catching up on "Suits," you may have noticed the long-running series is packed with cameos connected to the cast in real life. One exciting appearance is by actor Jacinda Barrett, Gabriel Macht's real-life wife of almost 20 years. She plays Harvey's love interest in season two, a former lawyer named Zoe. Though the Australian actor is only in three episodes, the pair's chemistry is undeniable.
In season two, we learn that Zoe, a fellow Harvard Law School graduate and former Pearson Hardman colleague, dated Harvey five years prior. They reunite when Zoe is brought on as a jury consultant in Harvey's case, but ultimately, their relationship ends quickly as Zoe has to leave the state to take care of her niece. Zoe has since become a fan favorite of Harvey's girlfriends, though it's hard to rival Harvey and Donna's will-they-won't-they relationship on screen.

Syd Barrett was the guiding light of the original Pink Floyd — the band’s singer, primary songwriter and guitarist from their first day until their psychedelia-defining 1967 debut album, “Piper at the Gates of Dawn.” His sparkling, childlike melodies and lyrics have cast a huge influence over rock and pop music ever since — David Bowie cited him as a pivotal influence, and it shows — and entire genres of music, particularly the neo-psychedelic waves of the early ‘80s in the U.S. and U.K., bear his fingerprints.
Yet he was also one of rock’s first “acid casualties” — people who took too many drugs, or at least the wrong ones, and were never the same afterward. His bandmates and friends say one day, he was just gone: The distinctive sparkle in his eye and spring in his step had disappeared. He became uncommunicative and withdrawn; he’d go onstage and just stand there,...

Pink Floyd is best known as the band whose Dark Side of the Moon broke all records as the longest charting album in rock music history. Dozens of their songs are classic rock staples, the feature length film of their rock opera The Wall is a cult classic, and their sound is as instantly recognizable as their enigmatic back story. Have You Got It Yet? The Story of Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd is co-directed by Roddy Bogawa, the filmmaker behind Taken by Storm: The Art of Storm Thorgerson and Hipgnosis, and Storm Thorgerson, a Pink Floyd intimate who started the graphic arts team which illustrated the band’s most iconic album covers. But the band’s founder and guiding light, Syd Barrett, dimmed in the glare of the spotlight, leaving the group after their second album, long before they achieved the stratospheric success their later work would bring. Pink Floyd and David Bowie were two of the biggest names in classic rock, but they had different approaches. Floyd evolved into studio wizards who became concept album virtuosos. The Thin White Duke reinvented himself several times but built his reputation as a glam rock star. Pink Floyd’s hit songs, as well as their underrated tunes, became staples, but Bowie wasn’t a fan and his negative opinion of the band meant he probably wasn’t paying attention to their success.
David Bowie wasn’t a Pink Floyd fan and had a harsh take on their 2nd iteration
Pink Floyd established themselves as psychedelic rock pioneers at the perfect time. Their inventive light show and creative live jamming emerged in time for swinging London’s wild summer of 1967. The band recorded their first album next door to The Beatles as they made Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Before they became a classic rock staple that churned out memorable tunes and underrated songs, Pink Floyd fought and clawed to attain popularity. Yet an early breakthrough led to a BBC TV appearance that keyboard player Rick Wright called the worst thing he ever did.

Appearing on national television is a break most musicians would relish.
For Pink Floyd, it was both a blessing and a curse.
The blessing was getting on Top of the Pops a few weeks before their debut album hit shelves. The curse was realizing they didn’t have what it took to survive the music industry machine.

Pink Floyd had to wait before they became a classic rock success story. They wrote the song that predicted their breakthrough on The Dark Side of the Moon, and then their world changed. That album catapulted them to fame and the trappings of it. Bassist Roger Waters almost attacked a fan in 1967, which came a decade before his confrontation with a concert-goer inspired Pink Floyd’s last great album.

BET+’s new darkly comic thriller Average Joe may or may not be better than Netflix’s Ozark — I never loved Ozark, but maybe you did and so be it — but the gap between the two shows isn’t as great as the inevitable gap in coverage would seem to suggest.
Average Joe and Ozark are both highly derivative pieces of violent, ethically twisty pulp made somewhat distinctive by their regional specificity, irritatingly washed-out cinematography and sitcom-honed leading men repressing their natural timing to play a tamped-down everyman.
Though it doesn’t yet realize aspirations that could generously be described as Jim Thompson meets August Wilson — that’s a show I would very much watch — Average Joe has the feeling of a potential breakout for BET+, though it’s impossible to know what a “breakout for BET+” would mean in this landscape.

Italy’s Taormina Film Festival kicks off its 69th edition Friday evening against the backdrop of its landmark Teatro Antico amphitheatre with a “Pavarotti Forever” benefit event headlined by Placido Domingo and Vittorio Grigolo.
It’s not the typical opening for a film festival, but it is in keeping with the eclectic programming of incoming artistic director Barrett Wissman, whose interview with Deadline on his plans for the festival can be read here.
Much is riding on the edition, with Wissman being brought in to raise its local and international profile after a turbulent decade, which was compounded by the Covid pandemic.
Topping the bill over the first weekend is the Italian premiere of Indiana Jones and the Dial Of Destiny in the presence of Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Mads Mikkelsen. It’s the first time a major Disney production has touched down at the festival since Inside Out in 2015. Indiana Jones,...

Pink Floyd might have had one of the most dramatic transformations of any major classic rock band. Though drummer Nick Mason said the band’s groundbreaking early concerts were rubbish, Floyd became a psychedelic sensation. When the group moved on without founder and chief songwriter Syd Barrett, they emerged as a commercially successful prog rock powerhouse. But it didn’t happen overnight. One Pink Floyd song marked the breaking point between its psychedelic origins and legendary future.
The Pink Floyd song ‘Childhood’s End’ pointed toward ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ and beyond
Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page praised Barrett’s genius approach to music making. The innovation didn’t last. His erratic behavior led his bandmates to move on without him in 1968. Yet transforming into the prog-rock band that churned out commercially successful albums throughout the 1970s wasn’t seamless.
Pink Floyd held on to their psychedelic roots for several years after dismissing Barret.

Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin remain classic rock juggernauts decades after their apex. Page’s best guitar solos remain iconic, and the band’s songs are still all-time greats. Even though he was focused on getting his band off the ground in the late 1960s, the guitarist knew about the music scene around him. One of the contemporaries was Pink Floyd, and Page praised to their first guitarist, Syd Barrett, with just seven words before Barrett faded into obscurity.
