Every couple of months in comic book-centric social media circles, someone reposts a comics page in which Deadpool shooting Spider-Man in the head or decapitating an exhausted Bruce Banner. These panels usually spark arguments about whether or not these kills are in character (they aren’t) or if the entire thing is a joke (it is).
Eventually, someone points out that the pages come from Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, a 2012-2013 miniseries by Cullen Bunn and Dalibor Talajic. The story involves Deadpool’s fourth-wall-breaking powers driving him so mad that he decides to kill all the other Marvel characters because they’re fictional and their lives don’t matter. Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe may have inspired controversy, but it also inspired several sequels, including Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again.
From all that we’ve seen so far, Deadpool & Wolverine seems to have little in common with Bunn and Talajic’s take.

Dallas Liu’s Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation has already shown us how the actor can handle CGI fire, and that puts the character in the running for a host of pyrokinetic characters across media. However, one character that Liu himself wishes to essay is a race-bent Pyro, the character from the X-Men with the exact powerset as Zuko.
Dallas James Liu in Avatar: The Last Airbender
Liu has already essayed a role in the MCU, appearing in Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as the younger brother of Akwafina’s character, but that has not deterred the actor from voicing his MCU wishlist, which includes the pyrokinetic mutant Pyro, who is set to appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, played by Aaron Stanford (who will be reprising his role back from his X-Men days)

The X-Men film franchise has undeniably captivated a vast audience, earning a dedicated following among fans worldwide. Despite its popularity, the series has encountered numerous trials and tribulations along the way. Nonetheless, within Fox’s Mutants franchise lies a treasure trove of commendable elements.
One notable highlight is found in X2: X-Men United, where Ian McKellen, with his astute insight, introduced a groundbreaking moment: Iceman’s poignant coming-out scene.
X-Men ’97
However, recent developments surrounding the upcoming animated series X-Men ’97 have stirred controversy among fans. In particular, the decision to alter the character Morph’s sexuality to non-binary has sparked intense debate.
Many fans have criticized this change as contrived, questioning its relevance to the overarching story.

The Hold Steady celebrated their 20th anniversary on Saturday night with a hometown blowout in Brooklyn. It was a fittingly rowdy birthday bash for these guys. The Hold Steady might have started as Brooklyn’s finest bar band, dabbling in Last Waltz cosplay when they were barely into their thirties. But by now, they’ve been doing it even longer than The Band circa The Last Waltz. This band loves to revel in rock & roll rituals and fetishize the details, so they did this occasion right. It was exactly two decades after their first show,...

Setting up a fight between two characters with roughly the same power set is fun since it raises the question of who can use the power more efficiently and who can top the other in a one-on-one battle. In this particular fight, it’s fair to think that many fans would take sides almost immediately, but there might be a few that are on the fence simply because there are a few factors that offset each other when it comes to who would be standing at the end of this fight. Iceman, aka Bobby Drake, of the X-Men, is what is

When you think of Spider-Man‘s love interests, the first name to pop into your head is either going to be Mary Jane Watson or Gwen Stacy, and so far, the creative team behind every single live-action movie to feature the web-slinging superhero would agree. When the third installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise arrives next December, it’ll be the eighth consecutive Spidey outing to include one of the two as Peter Parker’s main squeeze, and if recent reports are to be believed, it’ll be the second Spider-Man 3 to feature both of them in some capacity.
Admittedly, Zendaya’s spin on Mj is an entirely different approach to the standard comic book redhead that audiences have been used to seeing over the last two decades, but no self-respecting franchise ever tells a straightforward love story without throwing plenty of obstacles in the way. This week on “The Boys,” we finally got to see the “hero” Lamplighter in action, and along with all that violence there was no doubt also a little familiarity for a lot of viewers. That’s because he’s played by Shawn Ashmore, best known for starring as Bobby Drake — Aka Iceman — in the “X-Men” movie franchise.
Lamplighter has the ability to manipulate fire, which he uses in the latest episode the Amazon Prime Video series to do a lot of uh, really bad things. And of course, Iceman (as his superhero code name suggests) has the power to manipulate ice. So they have exact opposite power sets, which brings us to the most pressing question: Which of Ashmore’s elemental-based super-beings would win if they had to fight it out?
For the answer, we turned to the expert himself:
“Look, honestly, I think that Iceman would win,” Ashmore told TheWrap.

The Boys' Shawn Ashmore Talks Lamplighter vs. Iceman, His 'Pretty Heavy' Role and the Supe's Costume
Warning: The following contains mild spoilers for The Boys Season 2, Episode 6.
Shawn Ashmore returns to his superhero roots with this Friday’s The Boys — but his supe, Lamplighter, couldn’t be more different from the heroic Iceman he played in the X-Men movie franchise. For starters, the fire-wielding Lamplighter was responsible for the murder of two children, a tragedy which still haunts the supe. And as viewers discover in Episode 6, there’s a lot more to the story of what happened to Mallory’s grandkids.

It’s safe to say that Stormfront (Aya Cash) has irons in the fire, having been around long enough to carry out Vought plans effortlessly and with psychopathic precision, and in the fifth episode of The Boys Season 2, we find out that she’s installed former The Seven member Lamplighter (Shawn Ashmore) in a hospital working undercover for her – but to what end?
In ‘We Gotta Go Now’, we get our first introduction to the Green Lantern-esque Lamplighter in a brief scene that aligns him with the despicable Stormfront, but that also gives us an inkling that all is not well when it comes to his wavering psyche and ongoing loyalty to Vought.
“No one ever said the job was easy,” says Stormfront on a catch-up call between herself and the ‘retired’ Lamplighter, who appears to be monitoring a valuable target.
“He’s just a kid; 17 years old,” Lamplighter complains in response,...

Over the weekend, we heard that Marvel Studios is keen to find a role for Shia Labeouf in the McU, with one part that they’re currently considering him for being Iceman. As the former Transformers star isn’t the first person you’d jump to as the perfect fit for Bobby Drake, the news has been hotly debated on social media. But what could Labeouf look like as the famed X-Men member?
Digital artist Mizuri has created some artwork that imagines the actor suiting up as Drake. Seen below, the piece dresses Labeouf in a Fox-style all-black combat suit, gives him a frosty glare and transforms his left side into ice. Plus, he’s depicted as standing in front of the iconic “Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters” sign. All things considered, he doesn’t look too bad here.

As a founding member of the X-Men, Iceman has been an integral part of the team’s comic book history for over half a century, but on the big screen, it never felt like the character was given much to do besides acting as Rogue’s doe-eyed love interest. Shawn Ashmore tried his best with the limited material that he was given, but despite starring in four of the Fox movies, his Bobby Drake never managed to leave much of an impression.
With the mutants set to rebooted as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the smartest thing Kevin Feige and his team could do to differentiate their approach to Charles Xavier’s students from the twelve-movie Fox franchise is to focus on heroes that we either haven’t seen in live-action before, or were severely underused by Fox.
While the vast majority of the speculation has focused on how they’ll handle recasting Wolverine,...

And just like that, Shawn Ashmore has completed his superhero acting journey from ice to fire.
The X-Men actor (who portrayed ice-wielding mutant Bobby Drake in X2) will be joining The Boys season 2 as fire-based superhero The Lamplighter. The announcement was accompanied by a first-look photo. We’ll be darned if Ashmore doesn’t look just like his X2 counterpart John Allerdyce a.k.a. Pyro.
“We were thrilled that Shawn — who is, let’s be honest, an Og superhero — wanted to play the crucial part of Lamplighter. He brings so much depth, menace, and world weary humanity to this former member of the Seven. And Shawn is a really good guy. We’re grateful to have him join our bloody little family,” said The Boys showrunner and executive producer Eric Kripke.
