After many years in development hell, a live-action adaptation of the Halo video game franchise finally made its way out into the world as a Paramount+ streaming series back in 2022, with the first episode of the show quickly becoming Paramount+’s most-watched premiere. But while the TV series is returning for a second season, which is scheduled to begin streaming on February 8th, the first season wasn’t met with overwhelming positivity, as many fans of the video game source material were disappointed by some of the choices made for the adaptation. Not even star Pablo Schreiber, who plays the character Master Chief on the show, was entirely happy with that first season. Speaking with SFX Magazine, Schreiber revealed there was even one element that he felt was a huge mistake: the romantic storyline with Master Chief and Makee (Charlie Murphy), which even included a sex scene.

"Sometimes events are beyond our control. And in those moments, we save what we can." Paramount+ has unveiled the full official trailer for Season 2 of the live-action Halo series on Paramount+. Much like the other epic sci-fi series Foundation on Apple TV+, it looks like they're kicking things up quite a few notches for Season 2, getting much bigger than the first season that arrived in 2022. In Season 2, Master Chief John-117 leads his team of elite Spartans against the alien threat known as the Covenant. As humanity's best hope for winning the war, John-117 discovers a deep connection to a mysterious alien structure with the key to humankind's salvation, or its destruction — the Halo. Pablo Schreiber returns again with Natascha McElhone as Dr. Halsey, Jen Taylor as Cortana, Bokeem Woodbine as Soren-066, with Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Tylan Bailey, Danny Sapani, Charlie Murphy,...

Paramount+’s two-minute official trailer for the sci-fi thriller Halo teases that when events spiral out of control, we save what we can. “Looking at your faces, I do not see defeat and I do not see surrender,” says Captain Jacob Keyes (Danny Sapani). Master Chief and the Spartans have heroes on their side, while the Covenant does not.
Pablo Schreiber (American Gods) returns to lead the video game-inspired series as Master Chief, Spartan-117, with Natascha McElhone (Californication) back as Dr. Halsey. Returning cast members include Jen Taylor, Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo), Shabana Azmi (Fire), Natasha Culzac (The Witcher), Olive Gray (Half Moon Investigations), and Yerin Ha (Reef Break). Also back for season two are Bentley Kalu (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Kate Kennedy (Catastrophe), Charlie Murphy (Peaky Blinders), Danny Sapani (Penny Dreadful), Fiona O’Shaughnessy (The Forgiven), and Tylan Bailey.

The "Halo" season 2 trailer has arrived, and it brings with it the return of Master Chief who is now facing a new, familiar threat to those who played the games: The Covenant. Indeed, this season will see the sword-wielding aliens wreaking havoc. It appears that the folks at Paramount+ spared no expense in crafting the second season of this show, but will that be enough to turn it into the series everyone hoped it would be in the first place?
This trailer is very moody and overflowing with gloomy action. It's got a "Starship Troopers" vibe to it at times, just without all of the vibrant color and blatant political commentary. We're also, once again, seeing Master Chief without his helmet off an awful lot. Love it or hate it, that element of the show remains in place. It's very cinematic and a lot of the visual effects look big-screen worthy.

Paramount+ revealed the official trailer for Halo‘s second season, which has Pablo Schreiber returning as Master Chief John-117 as he leads a team of elite Spartans against the alien threat known as the Covenant.
The new season has showrunner David Wiener (Brave New World) taking over for last season’s Steven Kane, who oversaw physical production on the first season in Budapest, and Kyle Killen, who supervised writing and production in the United States.
The new footage shows plenty of space action, though it appears a bit dim and murky (at least, in this trailer):
Wiener, Schreiber and newcast member Joseph Morgan had unveiled the first new footage for season two at Ccxp in São Paulo in December.

"Halo" is a blockbuster video game franchise if there ever was one, so it's surprising that the TV adaptation met such a muted response when it premiered on Paramount+ on March 24, 2022. Despite debuting to apparently historic numbers on Paramount+ (apparently because streaming platforms like Paramount+ don't release their actual numbers before making proclamations such as these), /Film's Jeremy Mathai found "Halo" season 1 to be a slow start, but not devoid of promise. The series was renewed for a season 2 right out of the gate, however, and the first look trailer was just screened for attendees at this year's Ccpx 2023.
Set in the 26th century, "Halo" follows humanity in a war for survival with the Covenant, an alliance of alien conquerors who fanatically worship the extinct Forerunners. Humanity's greatest weapons are the Spartans, cyborg super-soldiers trained from childhood. One of their numbers is the series' protagonist: Master Chief John-117, played by...

“Halo” Season 2 is almost here, and it looks like Master Chief has his work cut out for him.
Paramount+ announced Saturday that the second season of the video game-based series will premiere on Feb. 8, sharing a dramatic teaser trailer. Instrumental music scores a rousing speech as our heroes embark on a doomed mission.
“You deserve the truth,” the trailer’s rousing speech begins. “The enemy is at our gates. Their numbers are overwhelming. Any Marine who makes this stand with us will not survive the day.”
But, there’s a reason for that sacrifice: “For every moment we hold the enemy at bay, more innocent people can escape. When they do, they will go forth and tell the story that you write today. You will be remembered.”
The word “remembered” echoes over the rest of the trailer as we see more action, including human-alien physical combat.

After Illumination and Nintendo dropped the highly-anticipated trailer for "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," we admittedly had some thoughts. Now, I could continue to spend hours screaming about why celebrity stunt casting in animated features needs to die a fiery death or hop on a soapbox about how I completely understand why so many people find Bowser irresistibly sexy, but I'd rather save those thoughts for a non-sober 3:00 a.m. Twitter thread.
Rather than focus on the glaring, completely avoidable issue shown in the trailer, there was a beacon of joy well worth celebrating. After the trailer introduced us to Jack Black's pretty dang good Bowser and a joyous showcase of the Penguins (that don't require us to carry the whining things to their mother in the wind and snow), our first glimpse at Mario sees him exploring the lands of the Mushroom Kingdom and coming face-to-face with...

The Master Chief is back and -- stop me if you've heard this before -- he's ready to finish the fight. After a sprawling opening season introduced diehard gamers and casual viewers alike to the Paramount+ live-action take on "Halo," the sci-fi series is set to make its return for a second go-around depicting the epic war between 26th century humanity and the fearsome conglomerate of alien species known as the Covenant.
Originally brought to life in the critically-acclaimed and immensely popular "Halo" video game series, and the subject of decades of fevered demands to translate such material to the big screen, the valuable IP has instead found its home on streaming with a much more indirect approach than fans may have expected. “As a fan of the series, and having played the games for the last 20 years, it’s an incredibly daunting task to be put into the position of visual effects supervisor,” admits Dominic Remane, who was tasked with creating the expansive galaxy inhabited by the warring factions at the center of the “Halo” story with his army of visual artisans and technicians. For our recent discussion, he adds, “Working on the creative design of the characters and creatures and trying to stay faithful to what the audience is expecting to see, but still have a slight twist and create our own canon to a degree, gives us...

Spoiler Alert: This post contains details about the Halo season finale “Transcendence.”
Halo bounces back from a conflicting moment with an action-packed finale that’s reminiscent of the games and sets a new path forward for John, Cortana, Halsey and more.
Written by Steve Kane and Kyle Killen, “Transcendence” picks up after the brutal Spartan-on-Spartan battle. John (Pablo Schreiber), bloodied and bruised, stumbles around the rubble to reach Kai (Kate Kennedy) and search for Makee (Charlie Murphy). The Covenant spy and his one night stand escaped via Phantom with the artifact to High Charity.
Amid the chaos on Reach, Vannak (Bentley Kalu) threatens to kill Kai but John tells his fellow super soldiers about Halsey’s brainwashing, with the help of Captain Keyes (Danny Sapani). It's hard to believe that the Halo Season 1 finale is just one day away.
Halo Season 1 Episode 9 focuses on the aftermath of Halo Season 1 Episode 8, which put Halsey's true motives on full display.
There has been much debate about whether the person who took John from his home all those years ago was a villain or someone being told what to do.
TV Fanatic scored an exclusive look at the finale via a 90-second clip, and it's as intense as you'd expect.
Halsey is up to no good, trying to escape from Reach after her wild plan backfired.
Kai, who has slowly been understanding that Halsey's motives are not good, is giving a good chase.
The two exchange jabs, but tragedy strikes when the ship they are on crashes, leaving John and the others looking at a burning wreck.
Did we just witness the demise of both Halsey and Kai?...

Kwan's quest for revenge has put her in some dangerous scenarios throughout Halo Season 1.
On Halo Season 1 Episode 7, titled "Inheritance," Kwan’s journey to uncover her family’s “true purpose” takes her deep into the deserts of Madrigal.
TV Fanatic scored an exclusive first look at what is sure to be a big installment for Kwan.
We've witnessed the youngster go through several harrowing encounters throughout the initial episodes of the series, and hopefully, she'll get the answers she requires.
Unfortunately, the beginning of the clip makes it look like Kwan is a prisoner.
Her aim will be to get all of the answers and prepare for the fight ahead.
Kwan obviously wants revenge, but a big part of her mission will be to learn the true extent of her father's connection to the people deep in the desert.
We also know that Vishner wants Kwan dead, making things considerably more cutthroat.

Halo Episode 3
It all depends on Cortana. That was true for a large portion of the Halo games and it’s true for TV.
Unfortunately, her role, appearance, and relationship with Master Chief are significantly changed for the TV series in a slow third episode. While original voice actor Jen Taylor gives her all in challenging mo-cap scenes, the script and the production design mostly fail to cohere.
Halsey goes ahead with the Cortana program now that John-117 is back on Reach. While Chief doesn’t want a voice in his head, Cortana doesn’t give him much of a choice. Once inside Chief’s brain, his new AI partner quickly gains access to her abilities, which include putting Chief in “stasis” to test whether the mysterious artifact responds to his touch or his brain. Turns out it needs “John as John” to work. Seeing...

Halo once was supposed to put Xbox on the map as a place for original scripted programming. Instead, the adaptation of the popular video game is helping to establish another digital platform, Paramount+. According to the Paramount streamer, Halo has set a new record as the service’s most-watched series premiere globally in its first 24 hours of release, topping the previous mark established by Yellowstone prequel 1883 in December.
As usual, no numbers were provided; for reference, the record-breaking 1883 series debut on Paramount+ also drew 4.9 million viewers in a promotional linear airing behind Yellowstone on Paramount Network. We will get a sense of the scope of Halo’s viewership when Nielsen’s streaming rankings for this week come out. A Paramount+ original has yet to crack the Nielsen Top 10.
