By the power of high-speed lifts, a close hold, love from their moms, and quite possibly Disney movie mind-control, Princess Jasmine and Wiladdin Wonka a.k.a. Meryl Davis and Charlie White have become the first U.S. Olympic champions in Ice Dancing. Their training companions, the Vancouver gold medalists and non-Disney characters Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir of Canada, settled for silver. And Russian youth sorcerers Elena Ilinykh and Nikita Katsalapov took the bronze after Monday’s finals in the Iceberg Skating Palace — indisputably the Planet Mirrorballus of Sochi, Russia.

London — Justin Bieber apologized Tuesday to his young fans – and their outraged, overtired parents – after they accused him of taking the stage almost two hours late for a concert in London.
The singer insisted he had only been 40 minutes late, and blamed "technical issues."
But, he added in a tweet to his 35 million followers: "There is no excuse for that and I apologize for anyone we upset. However it was great show and I'm proud of that."
Concertgoers said the teenage star appeared onstage at the 02 Arena on Monday at 10:30 p.m., when the start time had been listed as 8:30. Many in the audience, who had been waiting for hours, faced the choice between leaving early or missing the last trains home.
"There were teenage girls crying outside," said financial analyst Louise Cooper, who had taken her 9-year-old daughter to the gig as a birthday present.

Justin Bieber, who recently celebrated his 19th birthday in London, is still in the U.K. for the European leg of his "Believe" tour. And fans couldn't believe it Monday night (March 4) when the Biebs was reportedly two hours late going on stage.
According to the AP, the concert at London's O2 Arena was supposed to start at 8:30 p.m., but did not appear on stage until almost 10:30, which reportedly breaks the venue's noise curfew and also caused problems for fans who needed to use public transportation to get home.
Concertgoer Wayne Parsonage tells the Telegraph that his daughter only got to see 25 minutes of the performance because they had to leave the venue before 11 p.m. to catch their train. He adds that he thought Bieber would make an official apology, but none came.

The "folk/country dance" theme for ice dancing's second night of competition was just asking for trouble. Teams not wanting to play it safe by doing a style representative of their own country — or mainstream, like Spanish Flamenco or Indian — were going to get "creative." The best they could hope for was viewers tuning in and thinking they were watching that scene in The Cutting Edge when the pairs team got tripped up in the lederhosen; the worst would be if viewers stumbled upon the "aboriginal" original dance from Russia's reigning world champions Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin (pictured, left...

Ice dancing got underway Friday night in Vancouver with the U.S. hoping one of its two top teams will end the Russian domination of the sport and bring America its first gold medal in the discipline. If you tuned in for the compulsory dance — in which each couple skated the same Tango Romantica so they could be judged on technique head-to-head — you may have thought you were watching a costume contest (the quality of skating seemed so similar) until you caught a glimpse of Russia's reigning world champions Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin (pictured, left). They had the fire...
