- Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown was born on April 18, 1924 in Vinton, Louisiana, USA. He was an actor, known for Ticker (2001), All Tied Up (1993) and The!!!! Beat (1966). He was married to Geraldine Paris, Mary Durbin and Yvonne Ramsay. He died on September 10, 2005 in Orange, Texas, USA.

- Although battling lung cancer and heart disease, 'Gatemouth' fled his home in Slidell, Louisiana, a bedroom community of New Orleans, prior to Hurricane Katrina. The home was destroyed. His booking agent said he was completely devastated. Just days later, Brown passed away.
- Composer and guitarist Frank Zappa repeatedly named Brown as his all-time favorite guitar player.
