Back in 2012, Radical Entertainment gave gamers the wild world of Prototype 2, allowing them to shapeshift and wreak havoc as Sgt. James Heller. Those who played the game absolutely loved the concept, and wanted more entries in the franchise.
Radical thought a third entry could be the last game for the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3, or a launch title for the then-new consoles, the PS4 and Xbox One. However, Prototype 2 sales were underwhelming, leading to the threequel being shelved. Over a decade later, though, Xbox owns the IP, and bringing Prototype 3 back could significantly sway market share their way.

Every console in history has at least one title that totally embodies both everything the hardware was capable of, and what we all loved about it. From 1972’s Magnavox Odyssey and the beginning of the first generation of gaming, to modern day multi-purpose mega-consoles, every one has had a game that fans will play until dawn rolls around and their hands cramp up.
On the flip side, whilst 40 years of games consoles has produced some truly memorable games, there have been more than a few titles that designers, producers and fans alike would sooner forget. For every Super Mario there’s a Hudson Hawk. Who? Exactly.
Sometimes, in an industry always looking to the next generation, a game can be so bad that it becomes a black mark against the console(s) it gets released on. Sometimes, something is so disastrous that it kills that console entirely.

When 24 first came roaring onto our screens way back in 2001 I was instantly hooked, even going so far as to slip quietly away from a function I was at where I was staying overnight at a hotel to watch that week’s episode before rejoining the party. That first season was like nothing television had seen before and deservedly earned a reputation for being must see television.
By the time I season six concluded, though, I was feeling as knackered as Jack Bauer was, and so 24 and I parted company and went our separate ways. Until, that is, they decided to set season 9, or Live Another Day as it’s officially known, in London.
Now I’m a sucker for anything set in the town that I work in, and so I decided that after seven years apart it was time to get reacquainted with Bauer and see if 24 still had the old magic.

24: Live Another Day, Season 1, Episode 8: “6:00 Pm – 7:00Pm”
Written by Robert Cochran
Directed by Jon Cassar
Airs Mondays at 9pm (Et) on Fox
And so we must say farewell to one of the finest actors to have graced this show. And what a way to go out.
There is more than a scent of resigned doddering in this week’s outing. Jack’s mission is fairly rote, as he needs to get Heller out of the presidential enclave without anyone knowing, but it accounts for much of the running time. He forms an uneasy alliance with Mark, who keeps almost everyone else in the administration occupied while Jack and Heller make a beeline for the rendezvous with Margot.
Yet the president and the terrorist never get to meet face to face. There’s no hidden agenda in Heller’s decision to hand himself over to his foe.

The following recap, by the very definition of the word “recap,” contains spoilers from this week’s 24: Live Another Day. All typing occurred in real time.
It is remotely conceivable, being the twisty-turny world of 24, that what happened at the close of this Monday’s episode did not, in fact, happen.
But assuming for the time being that it absolutely did… wow. Rip, Potus.

When it was announced a small eternity ago that William Devane was on board for 24: Lad, I admittedly shrugged. Love the actor, but...
