Oscar-winning director Sebastián Lelio has wrapped production and released first images on his new musical film The Wave (La Ola), inspired by the protests and university rallies that took place in Chile during the so-called “feminist May” in 2018.

Tales of queer love play a central role in fictionalized stories about royal families, such as Red, White & Royal Blue and more recently Young Royals and Mary & George. However, we rarely hear about real-life royals who are out members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Of course, there are reports about Kings and Queens in the past who had same-sex relationships. Take Queen Anne of Great Britain, for instance, who inspired the Oscar-winning movie The Favourite. King James I is also rumored to have same-sex relationships. His alleged relationship with George Villiers inspired Mary & George.
We rounded up three modern-day royals who have openly discussed their sexuality. One is an extended member of the British royal family who is married to another man. Another is sometimes referred to as the first ever Prince to come out.

Leah Remini’s defamation and harassment suit against the Church of Scientology is far from dead, but it’s constitutionally wounded.
In a March 12 split final ruling from Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Randolph Hammock (read it here), the David Miscavige-led organization has prevailed on getting significant portions of the ex-Scientologist’s action stricken on First Amendment grounds. However, parts of Remini’s harassment claims, “allegations of surveillance” and the tortious inference claim remain in the case going forward.
Having issued a tentative ruling on these matters weeks ago, and overseen hearings in Dta on January 16 and February 6, Judge Hammock’s final ruling doesn’t really contain anything anyone in the case didn’t know what coming. Still, even with an October 27, 2025, trial start date on the books right now, it would be foolish to say that Remini hasn’t suffered a setback from Scientology’s successful use of...

Ahead of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire releasing in theaters next year, Dark Horse Comics has announced that a four-issue series titled Ghostbusters: Back in Town is on the way.
The all-new ghostbusting adventure bridges the gap between Ghostbusters: Afterlife and its upcoming sequel Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
A year and a half after the events of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the Ghostbusters are officially back in business and headed to where it all began: New York City! Callie, Gary, Trevor, and Phoebe are moving into the Firehouse and ready to take on the Spengler family business…or are they?
Ghostbusting on top of changing family dynamics has a way of going awry––and that’s exactly what one paranormal force is counting on.
Featuring writing by David Booher, art by Blue Delliquanti, colors by Mildred Louis (Rick and Morty), and letters by Jimmy Betancourt of Comicraft, Ghostbusters: Back in Town continues the cultural phenomenon.

Already engaged in a lawsuit of her own against Scientology, Leah Remini lambasted the Church today following the sentencing of prominent Scientologist Danny Masterson to 30 years in prison on rape convictions.
Calling the David Miscavige-led organization “a multibillion-dollar criminal organization with tax-exempt status,” the former King of Queens star and ex-Scientologist took to social media to center on the Church’s alleged “cover-up” of Masterson’s crimes and others.
“For over two decades, Danny Masterson avoided accountability for his crimes,” Remini tweeted Thursday (see her full statement below). “While Danny was the only one sentenced, his conviction and sentence are indictments against Scientology, its operatives, and its criminal leader, David Miscavige.”
Remini, who has battled with the Church of Scientology for years, was in the packed Los Angeles courtroom today as Masterson received his sentence. At one point, as the court was taking a short break before sentencing, Remini...

Welcome to It’s a Hit! In this series, IndieWire speaks to creators and showrunners behind a few of our favorite television programs about the moment they realized their show was breaking big.
“House of the Dragon” is now well established as a record-breaking HBO success, but there was a time when that was not a given. Back in 2015, when “Game of Thrones” was still going strong, HBO knew it needed to prepare a follow-up to the franchise. Here’s how Ryan Condal went from the creator of a failed Pedro Pascal pilot to becoming the “House of the Dragon” showrunner and crafting a series packed with bloody action spectacle, sexy royal intrigue, and a new suite of engaging characters.
Back in 2013, when “Game of Thrones” was two seasons in, Ryan Condal had nothing to do with it. He was on location in Santa Fe with Pascal on would-be NBC pilot “The Sixth Gun,...

Zack Snyder’s zombie movie Army of the Dead spawned the Netflix spinoff movie Army of Thieves in 2021, but what about an actual sequel? Last we heard, Planet of the Dead will be Snyder’s official sequel to Army of the Dead, and Snyder provides an update this week.
The basic gist? Snyder is currently hard at work on another Netflix property, his sci-fi epic Rebel Moon, which is taking up the bulk of his time. Planet of the Dead will have to wait.
“As far as the Army Universe goes, it’s still alive and well in my mind,” Snyder tells The Nerd Queens. “I know exactly what I would do. “He’s all broken/ Fallen from the stars…” laments Redcar, also known as Christine and the Queens. In this new presentation, the artist now using he/him pronouns is a “suited, demented, broken-down man”. Much of Redcar Les Adorables Étoiles finds him yowling (mostly in French) into a dark maze of lost and looping grooves, his questing vocals echoing over the unyielding crunch of Eighties synths and the occasional agonised electric guitar. Imagine the Eurythmics and Jean-Michel Jarre hooking up to jam through on an operatic jazz odyssey in an underground car park somewhere beneath a rain-drenched Paris at 2am, and you’re about there.
To understand the pain and disorientation Redcar is expressing, you need the back story. In a tearful interview with The Guardian last week, the 34-year-old French artist born Heloise Letissier spoke of the sudden loss of his mother, Martine, to a heart infection in 2019. He...

As the choreographer of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Miguel Zarate’s goal is to ensure that every Queen stands out and hits their mark. “I always tell the girls, ‘if you look like trash, I look even worse,’” he says. “It’s my job to make them look amazing.”
Iconic drag artist and host RuPaul searches for “America’s next drag superstar” in this VH1 reality competition. The contestants compete in various challenges that test their performance skills, and choreography tends to be one of the more difficult skills to master. It’s not just about mastering the skill, as each Queen needs to make sure they don’t blend into the background of the performance.
For the dance numbers, Zarate is given a script before each Queen has a role, so he has to create a base for the choreography before they step on stage. As they start to learn the basic movements,...
