In the image that James Gunn released, depicting David Corneswet’s Superman, a slew of easter eggs have already ensnared audiences into giving the picture a closer look. Despite all the conversations around the suit, fans are now increasingly more interested in what the big purple blob behind Superman is. Speculations have run wild, and there are multiple candidates that have come to the forefront of the conversation when it comes to figuring out who it might be.
David Corneswet’s Superman as revealed by @jamesgunn, captured by Jessica Miglio
The purple blob can be multiple things, given how storied Superman’s history is in dealing with the absurd. It must also be taken into account that James Gunn is a comics fan himself and loves obscure characters, which could mean the purple blob could be some Golden Age monstrosity from Supeman’s Action Comics days.

(L-r): Karen Gillan, James Gunn, and Chris Pratt on the set of Marvel Studios’ Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3. Photo by Jessica Miglio. © 2023 Marvel. James Gunn faced a monumental task in making Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. After all, he was trying to wrap up a three-film story arc gracefully, but he also had to keep it in canon with the other Marvel Cinematic Universe films featuring the Guardians characters. Not only that, but he also had to leave the door ajar for the possibility of the characters’ return to the MCU. And, oh yeah, there was that little matter of him being fired, then rehired, during the movie’s production process. But even with all that going on, he told us that none of those things posed the biggest challenge to him while making the film. (Click on the media bar below to hear James Gunn) https://www.

Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” now playing in theaters.
Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” was a huge undertaking for makeup head Alexei Dmitriew and hair department head Cassie Russek, who used over 22,500 prosthetics, 500 wigs and 130 facial hairpieces to create the movie’s galactic creatures. That number broke the world record for most prosthetics used in a film, previously held by “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”
From Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock to villain The High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji) to the new hybrid humanimals, the duo were tasked with creating original looks as the Guardians set out on their newest mission.
It took a village of 75 makeup artists on set to complete the looks — sometimes there would be 90. “We had two people per prosthetic so we could just keep the times down,” Dmitriew says. “On this, we used 22,542 prosthetics, 117 pairs of contact lenses,...

Last week, "Gotham" fans were in a fervor over a teaser that heavily implied that The Joker would be making an appearance on tonight's episode of the Batman origin series. Now, showrunner Bruno Heller has offered viewers some (vague) clarification about what that teaser means, and just who the man in the clip was.
In an interview with E! Online, Heller discussed the heated reaction to the promo, which featured actor Cameron Monaghan plastered with a creepy smile and doing his best maniacal laugh. Surely, that's The Joker, right? Maybe, maybe not. Heller explained:
I can tell you this is a long game plan and a long story that we are telling here. What I can promise you is this is not a bait-and-switch. This is not someone who is just a character who is going to disappear. This is not a red herring. It's the beginning of the story...

Whether you’re a Gotham superfan or not, it’s hard to deny that the show is doing a lot of interesting things, and moving events in ways that make it a show that is hard to miss.
As opposed to other shows that you might want to put in the same, rather new, genre, Gotham has a lot of balls it has to keep in the air, and is doing a great job of driving its plot by way of a solid foundation of characters.
Considering that it is, in many ways, a plot idea that is hamstrung by the future it needs to come to pass, it’s an impressive effort so far.

Gotham Review
There’s been a flood of television shows that lean, to one extant or another, toward the sci-fi/fantasy realm, with varying success, and comic book films have been taking over the box office, so it isn’t very surprising that comic characters would return to the small screen, and with Supergirl now on the horizon, it doesn’t look like we’re turning back any time soon. The twist with Gotham, that does make it a bit surprising, and more difficult to judge, is that it is a sort of anti-comic series. It’s the prequel to Batman, and while that might be an area worth exploring, it doesn’t immediately open the door for knowing what you’re getting into by watching.

The 2014 Emmy nominations will be revealed July 10 and in the days leading up to that big announcement we'll be sharing our dream picks for nods in the big categories. You can find our picks for the reality categories here, Variety Series here, Lead Actor/Actress in a Miniseries or Movie here, Outstanding Movie and Outstanding Miniseries here, and Outstanding Guest Actor and Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama here. Today's focus: Outstanding Guest Actor and Outstanding Guest Actress in a comedy series.
It's time to take a look at the people who made us laugh on TV this year who weren't stars of their respective shows. Sometimes guest stars are total comedic scene steal stealers who deserve recognition, even if they have minimal amounts of screen time. And this category is kind of a wild one -- the ballot includes everyone from Jerry Seinfeld to Drake.

It may seem a long way away, but Gotham is fast approaching, and Fox really wants to suck you in. I have to admit, I’m not Gotham‘s biggest fan at this point. I’m open to being convinced, and the fact that Donal Logue is on board isn’t hurting it, but the premise seems almost like goofy just for goofy’s sake to me. Am I really that interested in pre-Batman Batman? Not so much actually. Then again, again, Bruno Heller as exec producer/writer throws me for another loop.
But, whether it turns out to be an engaging, interesting show or not, you have to give them credit for going all out. The show looks amazing – see the longform intro above – and there’s a chance that it will win out just by way of getting people to tune in for something with so much style.

Kill Your Darlings is the previously untold story of murder that brought together a young Allen Ginsberg (Daniel Radcliffe), Jack Kerouac (Jack Huston) and William Burroughs (Ben Foster) at Columbia University in 1944, providing the spark that would lead to their Beat Revolution. This is the true story of friendship and murder that led to the birth of an entire generation.

Don’t even ask what Movie 43 is, you don’t want to know…or do you?? Relativity Media’s outrageous new comedy comes from the twisted mind of Peter Farrelly and stars some of Hollywood’s biggest names. Comprised of hilarious and offensive story lines and featuring tons of familiar faces we love, Movie 43 is the first of its kind, putting each actor in crazy and unique scenarios. This isn’t spam, it’s just celebrities gone wild… or perhaps it’s just plain wrong!

Photo courtesy 20th Century Fox/ credit: Jessica Miglio David Gordon Green loves talking about movies. He loves watching movies too. Most of all, Green loves making them. That wasn't always the case. After 4 critically acclaimed indie films, which included George Washington (2000), All The Real Girls (2003), Undertow (2004), and Snow Angels (2008), Green grew tired of having to kill himself for financing only to have minuscule audiences see his films. After making Snow Angels, starring Sam Rockwell - who would also play a role in The Sitter - Green found himself hanging out on the set of Knocked Up and becoming chummy with Judd Apatow and company. Running with that crowd resulted in a major change in his storytelling approach, and the first product of the new Green wave was Pineapple Express (2008), a mainstream comedy starring James Franco and Seth Rogen. That movie's success paid for Your Highness (2011), which was ...

Chicago – Drew Barrymore no doubt is working hard to become Queen of the Romantic Comedy. She has done over ten of them, more if you count “Bad Girls.” (kidding) When recycling themes even the best of them can get redundant when seeing the same actress involved. “Going the Distance” is not even among the best of them.
Rating: 3.0/5.0
There is a spin factor in this one. Drew is definitely older (graduate student, lest she actually works) and the language and situations are a more course adult style. Yet the same old rom-com clichés are there – the meet cute (or in this case, drunk), the romancing montage and the Greek Chorus friends/relatives. Add some flat jokes with little basis in reality and the whole thing seems tired.
Drew Barrymore is Erin, a graduate student in Journalism, about to end an internship in New York City. Justin Long is Garrett, an...

Photograph by Jessica Miglio. Jason Sudeikis has had a busy year. It began with a steamy affair with Jennifer Aniston, his co-star in The Bounty Hunter and the upcoming Horrible Bosses, which both of them denied but the tabloids exposed by publishing stories with crafty rhetorical titles like “Is Jennifer Aniston Dating Jason Sudeikis?” (Busted!) More recently, he’s been canoodling with Mad Men’s Betty Draper (nee January Jones), a woman who explained the intricacies of sexual politics to her daughter with “You don’t kiss boys. Boys kiss you.” When she’s not on TV, she’s an actress who met Sudeikis at Saturday Night Live, when she was a (widely-maligned) host and he was (and still is) a regular cast member. One of their more memorable scenes together featured Sudeikis as Jimmy Stewart and Jones as a flatulent Grace Kelly on the set of Rear Window. It...

Chicago – Nanette Burstein, known mostly for her excellent documentaries “The Kid Stays in the Picture” and “American Teen,” makes her narrative feature film director debut with the comedy “Going the Distance,” with Drew Barrymore, Justin Long, Jason Sudeikis, Christina Applegate and Jim Gaffigan.
Going the Distance is about a modern couple (Barrymore and Long) who have to deal with a bi-coastal long distance relationship. Relative and friends are the roving Greek chorus in the story, advising and – in the case of Justin Long’s buddies Sudeikis and Charlie Day – mocking the couple.
