Chicago – One of the notable films to kick off the autumn film season is writer/director Ira Sach’s “Love is Strange.” The story of two men in a longtime gay relationship, who finally can marry – but whose lives go off track unexpectedly – features brilliant performances from veterans John LIthgow and Alfred Molina.
Ira Sachs is a veteran writer and director himself, on his sixth feature film. He first got noticed with “Forty Shades of Blue” in 2005 and “Married Life” two years later. The latter film featured Chris Cooper, Patricia Clarkson and Pierce Brosnan. After some great reviews for his fifth film “Keep the Lights On” (2012), he is back with “Love is Strange,” a personal and subtle character driven story.

Sarah Silverman’s buzzy comedy pilot has been given the green light by NBC. Per Deadline, the untitled potential series — loosely based on the comic’s own life — centers on a woman readjusting to being single after getting out of a serious relationship.
Silverman co-wrote the project, which Ron Howard will executive-produce.

Smells Like Screen Spirit invites you to RSVP for passes to our special advance screening in Austin, TX 7:30Pm Sept. 14th, 2010 @ The Galaxy Highland 10 Synopsis: There are over 300 bank robberies in Boston every year. And most of the professionals live in a one-square-mile neighborhood called Charlestown. One of them is Doug MacRay (Ben Affleck), but he is not cut from the same cloth as his fellow thieves. Unlike them, Doug had a chance at success, a chance to escape following in his father’s criminal footsteps. Instead, he became the leader of a crew of ruthless bank robbers, who pride themselves on taking what they want and getting out clean. The only family Doug has are his partners in crime, especially Jem (Jeremy Renner), who, despite his dangerous, hair-trigger temper, is the closest thing Doug ever had to a brother. However, everything changed on the gang’s last job...

They aren't ranked. Deal with it. I must thank these 47 actors again (three performers have two entries) one last time for delivering such indelible characterizations these past ten years. Bid them adieu before moving on to a fresh decade, the Teens. You may notice that this list includes no 2009 performances. It's too early! I don't wanna give away my upcoming nominees and I still need time to let the year settle. My dozen favorites are selected rather impulsively in red. And with "best/favorites" it's always subject to change with the passing of time... or moods.

The right car crash can make or break a movie. For this list, I’ve included any type of wreck, whether it is two cars hitting each other or a car hitting a person on foot. As some type of parameter, I tried to exclude any wrecks derived from a lengthy chase scene (The Matrix Reloaded and The Blues Brothers). However, since chase scenes do yield some pretty ridiculous car wrecks, I wasn’t able to keep them off the list completely. I won’t go without stating the obvious: chase scene or not, I just wanted an excuse to watch clips of cars hitting things.)
*Sidebar* I apologize for the wrecks without links to the clips. If you can find a clip posted somewhere on the World Wide Web, let me know! (NickO@atomicpopcorn.net)

Forget Oliver Stone's W. (which is sorta boring if you ask me), we are going major and leaving no stone unturned as we set out to cast a feature film adaptation of the 2008 Presidential Election. From the media elite to the folks at the top of the ticket there is hardly a name we leave off this list and myself along with the help of my casting directors Laremy Legel and David Frank have put together a list of names that won't necessarily break the bank of our producers, but represent some of the finest talent in Hollywood and will be put to good use. Currently Eric Roth (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Forrest Gump and The Insider) is writing the script for Steven Soderbergh to direct. Roth has shown the ability to tap into a political thrill ride with The Insider but also shown a more comedic...
