- Maki Ishii was born on May 28, 1936 in Tokyo, Japan. He was a composer and actor, known for Urutora Q za mûbi: Hoshi no densetsu (1990), Tokyo: The Last Megalopolis (1988) and Kaguyahime the Moon Princess (1988). He died on April 8, 2003 in Kashiwa, Chiba, Japan.
- Son of Baku Ishii, pioneer of Japanese dance. Brother of Kan Ishii.
- Japan's emperor decorated Ishii with the Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon in 1999 for his innovations and contribution to Japanese music.
