“What if the Y2K bug was real” feels like such an obvious concept that it’s surprising that it took so long to come up with it. At its best, the teen horror comedy Y2K will make you feel glad that Kyle Mooney and Evan Winter were the first to the punch. Displaying the shaggy looseness of sketch comedy, the film regards its setting with an irony-free attention to detail as it keys itself to the vibes of people who came of age before the new millennium started and would give anything to live it over again, with or without killer robots.
It’s New Year’s Eve 1999, and shy teenage nerd Eli (Jaeden Martell) is more worried about making an impression on his cool-girl crush, Laura (Rachel Zegler), than he is about the approaching millennium and what it might bring. After hitting up the video store with his gregarious best bud,...

Rachel Zegler and the cast of A24’s Y2K had a blast describing a favorite scene where a group of fleeing high school students slide, tumble and bump down a hill inside an overflowing porta potty
“So, like, the big sh*t — let’s just nip it in the bud — the big sh*t was hot chocolate mix with glycerin, so it smelled amazing. And it was really confusing to shoot that,” said the star of the Kyle Mooney disaster comedy that premiered at SXSW tonight.
The Porta Potty “was on its side, on shocks. Yeah, it was actually bouncing up and down,” Zegler said. “And you can see lovely [co-star] Jaeden Martell here was covering my ear because I kept talking about how I didn’t want water in my ears. And Evan kept saying ‘get your hand off her ear, we can’t see her face.’ But the...

"Laroi, he's so ambitious, I could tell he was gonna be huge." Prime Video has revealed an official trailer for another new music documentary called Kids Are Growing Up: A Story About A Kid Named Laroi, from Obb Media. The film is about his "growing up" over the last few years with all of his success. With so many A24 items looking for 2024 positioning, we wouldn’t be surprised if Kyle Mooney‘s feature debut waits for the next train to pass but we kinda like what a Park City premiere might do for the film. Jaeden Martell, Rachel Zegler, Julian Dennison, Lachlan Watson, Mason Gooding, The Kid Laroi, Tim Heidecker, Eduardo Franco, Miles Robbins, Alicia Silverstone, Fred Hechinger and Daniel Zolghadri populate what is bring coined as a disaster comedy. The summer of Barbie just got its soundtrack. When the highly anticipated "Barbie" movie hits theaters on July 21, fans will also be able to blast "Barbie: The Album." On May 25, Atlantic Records announced news of the album, which will be released the same day as the film, also sharing some of the all-star artists who are featured, including Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice, Haim, Lizzo, K-pop group Fifty Fifty, and - perhaps most interestingly - Ryan Gosling, who plays Ken in the movie. These artists join pop star Dua Lipa (who plays a mermaid Barbie in the movie). Her "Barbie" song, "Dance the Night," dropped on May 26 with a vibrant, disco-themed music video.
Fans can preorder the "Barbie" album on its website right now, along with multiple special-edition vinyls and cassette tapes. Most of the album covers feature Margot Robbie as Barbie, lounging in her iconic bathing suit and sunglasses. The...

The newest trailer for the Greta Gerwig-directed, Margot Robbie-starring Barbie promises the classic Mattel doll is about to become very self-aware.
Warner Bros. dropped the highly anticipated film’s global trailer Thursday, offering one of the fullest glimpses at how the film will take Barbie from her backyard to the real world. In it, Robbie’s leading Barbie disrupts a dance party with an existential question: “Do you guys ever think about dying?”
From there, she reveals how “some things have been happening” to her that might be related to that massive party downer: cold showers, falling off her roof and her feet falling flat to the ground.
The changes forces Barbie to go to what Kate McKinnon calls “the real world,” in a sequence that plays on The Matrix‘s famous red pill-blue pill sequence (only this time with a sparkly heel or Birkenstock sandal). There, Barbie...

There’s even more reason to anticipate the release of Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” movie.
In theatres on July 21, the bonafide blockbuster already boasts a star-studded cast that includes Margot Robbie as the iconic doll and Ryan Gosling as Ken.
However, the vibrant “Barbie” universe also features a killer soundtrack, making it a pop extravaganza featuring new music from a myriad of mega-stars like Dua Lipa, Ice Spice, Nicki Minaj, Tame Impala, The Kid Laroi and more, and that’s only the first half.
Among the eye-catching names on the setlist is Gosling, who hasn’t contributed to a movie’s soundtrack since 2016’s Oscar-winning “La La Land”.

In 2013, Miley Cyrus launched her "Bangerz" era, marking her transformation from Disney Channel's Hannah Montana into a full-fledged pop star. Now, years after she ditched her blond wig and bedazzled microphone, fans suspect Cyrus might have a new alter ego. On April 26, rumors began circulating that Cyrus had released a secret album under the pseudonym Clara Pierce. As evidence, fans pointed out that the 12-track album made its debut on March 10, the same day Cyrus released "Endless Summer Vacation." Drumming up even more speculation, Pierce's voice sounds strikingly similar to Cyrus's.
"Just go listen to the songs," TikTok user shanecardinalofficial said in a video, referencing Pierce's album "Down With Me." Previously, the album was available on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, but it has since been removed. Still, fans who have heard the tracks insist that the vocals belong to Cyrus.

Nick Carter appeared unfazed as he performed with the Backstreet Boys Friday night amid a slew of damming allegations detailed in a lawsuit filed earlier this week.
The 42-year-old singer and the rest of his bandmates took part in iHeart Radio’s Jingle Ball concert at Madison Square Garden, with a lineup that also included Dua Lipa, Lizzo, Charlie Puth, The Kid Laroi and Demi Lovato, among others.
The Backstreet Boys — comprised of Carter, Kevin Richardson, A.J. McLean, Brian Littrell and Howie Dorough — donned an all-white ensemble as they performed some of their greatest hits in front of a frenzied crowd.

Replay, Spotify Wrapped, and the year-end Billboard Hot 100 lists are out! This week, the top streaming service shared personalized data about the top songs, artists, and albums that each of its users listened to in 2022. And they also shared data on the top-streamed songs worldwide — and a lot of the tracks featured high on the lists weren’t even released this year.
Leading the list of Apple Music’s “Top Songs of 2022: Global” playlist is the Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber’s song “Stay,” which was released in July 2021. The track ranked at No.

It's officially the best time of year for music-lovers. Spotify has released its 2022 Wrapped experience, and audio enthusiasts are already flocking to the streaming app to find out what their most-streamed songs mean about their personalities. But it's also time to see what the most-streamed songs of the year globally say about humanity as a whole - or about Spotify's 456 million listeners across 184 countries, at least.
Along with personalized playlists for all its users, Spotify also revealed its lists of 2022's most-streamed songs, albums, and artists on Nov. 30 as part of Spotify Wrapped. While 2021 packed some surprises, like music newcomer Olivia Rodrigo snagging the most-streamed song of the year with "Drivers License," 2022's lists were a bit more predictable, with long-established top artists holding down prime spots on the top lists.
Harry Styles ruled 2022; the lead single of his album "Harry's House," "As It Was," was the year's most-streamed song globally.
