Richard Owen Ransom is an American businessman and entertainment professional. He is the President of Salt Lake City Film Group. Ransom was born Richard Owen McDowell, in Columbia City, Indiana, to Patsy Ann McDowell, an artist, and Earl Leon McDowell, a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He changed his last name to Ransom when he married Dawn Renee Ransom, taking her name. Rich was raised in Indiana. He attended South Side High School in Fort Wayne for 3 years and graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1990. Rich attended Ashworth College earning an AS in Paralegal Studies and a BS in Business Administration. Before moving to Los Angeles to be a filmmaker, he spent 25 years working in management/supervision for multiple businesses, he was a postal employee, a paramedic, a hypnotherapist, a professional photographer, a videographer, an executive assistant with Trans Continental Records, a road tour manager, a music video producer and director, a talent scout, an agent, a casting assistant, and a production assistant. All of these positions led him to be an experienced Writer, Producer, Director, and executive at Salt Lake City Film Group, founded in 2022. Ransom was the Owner and General Manager of the Triple-A Dayton Gems hockey franchise, that played in the International Hockey League in 2009-2010. Rich's life has taken him all over the globe. He has lived in more than 10 states and visited 5 different countries. He resides in the Salt Lake City Metropolitan area with his two dogs, Carmel and Pretzel.
