Along with the perks of fame come the downsides, including plenty of people trying to make money off of your life. On the receiving end of criticism recently is
Lady Gaga, whose former friend is writing a book about her pre-fame days.
Divulging what he believes to have been a change to please a boyfriend, former DJ Brendan Jay Sullivan says the "Born This Way" singer ditched her simpler tunes to write a heavy metal song for beau Luc Carl, claiming, "since Carl liked only heavy metal and 'doesn’t like my sing-songy piano ballads' she would perform music to impress him, 'so I can be close to him'."
The book also claims that the song "Paparazzi" was about Luc, as she used to call him Papa. Other changes he claims were made were dying her hair blonde and her attitude, later telling her beau, "One day you’re not...

Shepherds of the web, from execs at Firefox to directors at Internet Explorer, have heralded HTML5 as the future of the Internet. Simply put, HTML5 is the latest revision to HTML, the core coding language of the web and the backbone of the Internet. It's a modern standard designed to complete modern online tasks--audio, video, multimedia, etc.--and every browser maker has touted its capabilities when showing off the newest versions of their software.
When I visited Google headquarters in February, product management director for Chrome Os Caesar Sengupta also sang the praises of HTML5, and stressed the impact it would have on the web.
For Sengupta, the power and scalability of HTML5 was one of its most appealing aspects--not only for Google, but for the many developers the search giant hopes to attract to its Chrome Web Store. On its Chrome browser and especially on its Cr-48 Chrome Os...

Last week, Mozilla VP of products Jay Sullivan indicated that HTML5 would eventually replace Adobe Flash. Along with Mozilla Firefox, every browser maker out there seems to be jumping on the bandwagon of HTML5, a term that has become the most overused buzzword in the tech industry.
But HTML5 is more than just the "trend de jour," says Ryan Gavin, senior director of Internet Explorer. The web language is enabling developers to create richer native web experiences, complete with video and audio and multimedia without the need for clunky third-party apps and plug-ins like Adobe Flash. "You can play buzzword bingo with HTML5 all day long," Gavin says. "Simply put, HTML5 is part of the secret sauce that is going to unlock and move forward a new set of web experiences."

By now you've probably heard of HTML5, the platform that every browser maker from Microsoft to Mozilla to Google can't stop heralding as the savior of the Internet. Buzzwords aside, developers are excited about HTML5 because it creates a more elegant online experience, enabling users to enjoy the the best aspects of the web--audio, video, multimedia--without having to install external applications like Adobe Flash. In other words, HTML5 allows us to experience the Internet natively, and escape what Mozilla VP of products Jay Sullivan calls "plug-in prison."
Sullivan is gung-ho about HTML5, which has become a major selling point of Firefox 4, the browser's latest iteration set launch in the coming weeks. That's great news for Firefox's 450 million users, but it's not so positive for Adobe, which could see one of its premiere products become irrelevant. So is Flash going away?
