Netflix is inarguably the best at adapting manga, and now they’ve come up with one of the most adrenaline-filled animes I’ve watched in a long time. Based on Baku Yumemakura’s series of martial arts novels, Garouden: The Way of the Lone Wolf is guaranteed to enthrall the audience to watch the series on Netflix. Juzo Fujimaki, a martial artist who’s been a wanted fugitive for years, is forced to gear up and fight again when unavoidable circumstances and his own past catch up to him.
Spoilers Ahead
Why does Fujimaki not want to fight anymore?
Fujimaki is first introduced when two hikers come across an injured brown bear who’s growling in pain and wants to kill them. Fujimaki fights the bear with his bare hands and manages to kill him. A detective named Tamon wants to get to Fujimaki, but Fujimaki being a criminal is...

Ryan Anderson and Gypsy Rose Blanchard separated three months after she left prison and now, Tiger King‘s Joe Exotic reached out from behind bars to give him some advice. Of course, it’s not the first time that Netflix fans heard from him. He is still in prison where he’s serving his sentence for animal offenses and a murder-for-hire plot against Carole Baskin.
Ryan Anderson & Gypsy Rose Blanchard Are On Lifetime
True crime stories get a lot of attention, and Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s story played out in a three-part special, The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard. Another series from Lifetime, Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup premieres in June this year. Gypsy, a victim of Munchausen by proxy at the hands of her mom, Dee Dee Blanchard, is getting a lot of attention from the press right now. Is that why Joe Exotic from Tiger King said something to Gypsy’s husband?...

Shannon Walsh’s documentary “Adrianne & the Castle”, which will make its world premiere at the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival on March 9, tells the love story of Alan St. George and his late wife, Adrianne, via fantastical musical re-enactments. Before her death, St. Georges, a mascot-maker and artist, hand-built Havencrest Castle, a medieval castle in rural Illinois that represented the love between the couple. Walsh follows St. George as he puts the finishing touches on Havencrest Castle while also grappling with his grief over the passing of his wife.
“We say it’s the greatest love story you’ve never heard of,” says Walsh, whose previous films include “The Gig Is Up.” “It’s really a story of love and grief and the risk that you take whenever you fall in love. Grief is really the central thread. But it’s also about imagination and our ability to create...

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is officially a free woman and she can now live her happily ever after with husband Ryan Scott Anderson.
For those who don’t know, Gypsy got married in a small prison ceremony back in July 2022. For those who don’t know, the 32-year-old, a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, was serving eight years for the murder of her mother Dee Dee Blanchard.
The prison where Gypsy was held does not allow conjugal visits, so the newlyweds were unable to consummate their marriage. They finally will have the chance now that she is free.
In a new interview, Gypsy and Ryan talked about how they met and what it was like falling in love while she was locked away.

Jon Hamm is answering the questions that really matter.
The Mad Men star is opening up about his Fargo season five hot tub scene, which had the actor show his bare butt while his villainous character seemingly exposed himself when trying to intimidate a pair of FBI agents.
In the new season of FX’s acclaimed crime anthology drama, which premiered Nov. 21, Hamm plays Roy Tillman, a crooked preacher and rancher serving as a rural county sherif who dishes out justices as he sees fit (“I am the law of the land”).
Discussing the second episode’s hot tub scene on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, Hamm first talked about the freezing temperatures while shooting in Calgary.
“I thought I had a rider in my contract [that said] naked’s fine, cold naked is not great,” he said. “I’m more of a warm naked [guy].”

After burning through countless stories involving his family and personal (mis)adventures with his Netflix specials Secret Time and Hey Big Boy, comedian Bert Kreischer squeezed “the last bit of juice out of the orange” with his latest, the Golden Globes contender Razzle Dazzle.
The Florida native feels, looking back, that this special is most certainly “the best” he’s put out so far. “I feel like it is all where I’ve grown, and I think it is all the shit you love me for,” he tells Deadline. “There’s a lot of great family stuff. There’s wild, funny stories. There’s a f*ckng ass hair cutting, and I know it’s performed better than any of my other specials, which is insane when you think Hey Big Boy was released three days after stay-at-home orders for [Covid]. In 1989, Billy Joel released his eleventh album Storm Front which featured his third single that would reach number one on the Billboard Top 100 charts, We Didn’t Start the Fire. We Didn’t Start the Fire was a unique tune in which the lyrics were composed entirely of a laundry list of subjects that dominated news headlines spanning from 1949 to 1989 (which was also Billy Joel’s lifetime at that point). The pop culture hit would address topics such as Beatlemania, the Berlin wall, the Ayatollah, Ho Chi Minh, Catcher in the Rye, The King and I, the crack epidemic and much more.
The song would spawn parodies for use in movies and TV, but there hasn’t been a genuine updated cover until now. The band Fall Out Boy has just released their version with headlines from the last thirty years filling out the lyrics. This single will reportedly be...

Each week on “The Pit Stop,” Bianca Del Rio recaps the latest episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” season 8 alongside a guest host. In their recap, Kornbread thought that queens who won their original “Snatch Game” competitions had the bigger task to live up to the expectation and queens who hadn’t competed in it before, like Lala Ri, were in a better position to perform well. Kornbread never got to do “Snatch Game” herself and told Bianca that she had planned to perform as Leslie Jordan or the Tiger King. Every race needs a finish line. For the “Fast & Furious” franchise, the studio keeps shoving it farther down the road, at least according to Vin Diesel, who suggested at the world premiere of the 10th installment — a brainless but action-packed thrill ride billed as “Fast X” — that Universal might split the “finale” over three movies. Why not seven? Or 20 more, for that matter? That might allow Diesel to merge these increasingly desperate sequels with his other running-on-fumes franchise, “XXX.”
The producer-star has a way of mouthing off around the release of each new “Fast” movie (remember hints that an all-female spinoff might be coming?), which feels counterproductive, considering that a key part of Diesel’s appeal comes from the rumbling-Harley-voiced actor’s capacity to reduce complex thoughts to terse catchphrases. He’ll squint his eyes, crack that sideways smile and spout something inane, and it will sound profound. Gearhead philosophy,...

Super indie Fremantle has unveiled plans to further expand into the documentary space with the launch of a new label, Undeniable, focused on the production of premium feature documentaries and series.
Mandy Chang, Fremantle’s Global Head of Documentaries, announced the move at documentary festival Cph:dox in Copenhagen on Tuesday. The new label will sit within Fremantle’s Documentaries division and appears designed to distinguish high-end feature docs and series produced in the group from Fremantle’s more conventional reality TV and non-scripted fare.
“The launch of Undeniable further underlines our commitment and ambition to build Fremantle’s documentary output on the premium side,” said Chang. “Working with the very best filmmakers and emerging talent, the label will provide editorial and production expertise and support in multiple genres. Importantly, it will provide a platform and freedom for creative talent to unlock and explore important issues and stories to be told.

Netflix lovers became obsessed with the stories of Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin when Tiger King first dropped in 2020. The disappearance of Baskin’s husband, Don Lewis, in particular, captivated the country. Though it’s been several years since the story drew such mass attention, Carole Baskin’s missing husband is back in the news. Here’s why.

In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, Netflix released the true crime documentary series, Tiger King. The show followed former zookeeper Joe Exotic and his years-long feud with Carole Baskin, the CEO of Big Cat Rescue. Exotic was eventually convicted of trying to hire a hitman to kill Baskin.

It has been quite the year for the streaming services. Fresh from the foothold that Covid allowed them to gain, 2022 seemed to be the most important year for streaming so far. In this excellent roundup of stats, facts and figures, ExpressVPN reveals which shows were the most popular each month, and how several big hitters may have changed the game forever.
As of right now Netflix holds the crown (and The Crown) of Top Streaming Service, and while many of its biggest hits are now firmly in franchise territory, it is the new movies and shows that bring in the essential new subscribers.

In October of 2021, Amazon Studios announced it was acquiring Trevor Beck Frost and Melissa Lesh’s “Wildcat” for a price nearing 20 million, a staggering sum for a doc of its kind. Produced by 30West, the film tells the story of former British soldier Harry Turner and conservationist Samantha Wicker, who help heal each other while caring for a small ocelot wildcat in the deep Peruvian rainforest.
This is Frost and Lesh’s first feature film. Frost comes from a still photography background, with work published in National Geographic and the New York Times, while Lesh has previously worked with short films. Robert Downey Sr.’s accolades and popularity pale in comparison to his son. But six months after informally turning Tiger King into the almost unwatchably hammy Joe vs. Carole, Peacock has given the limited series treatment to 2019’s Abducted in Plain Sight.
Abducted in Plain Sight — one of those Netflix releases that come without any promotion, are all anybody discusses for three days and then are never mentioned again — was simultaneously tedious and tawdry. At only 91 minutes, it was either infuriatingly repetitive or repetitively infuriating, and the idea that Peacock’s A Friend of the Family was going to tell Jan Broberg’s harrowingly bizarre story in nine hours caused me immediate trepidation.
Based on six episodes sent to critics, A Friend of the Family is simultaneously doomed by that structural choice and close to a best-case scenario.

Showtime will profile the people behind the anti-Trump Pac The Lincoln Project in a documentary series.
The five-episode series, also titled The Lincoln Project, is set to premiere Oct. 7. Fisher Stevens (Tiger King, Dirty Money) and Karim Amer (The Vow) are directing. It will follow the group of former Republican operatives and strategists who made it their mission to defeat their party’s sitting president, Donald Trump, in the 2020 election.
“There has never been a super Pac that has captured the imagination of the general public like The Lincoln Project. They showed us that you could use storytelling and the power of the internet to punch back, and that you could fight a bully by bringing the fight right to their doorstep,” Stevens and Amer said in a statement. “Like the best verité documentary journeys, we had no idea where this story would take us,...

The Monkees’ Micky Dolenz is not monkeying around with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
The domestic intelligence and security service of the U.S. is being sued by Dolenz over information collected on the Monkees 55-years-ago. Dolenz is suing the FBI for the full file, according to Rolling Stone, after a Freedom of Information Act request failed to get the job done.

A portion of the collected information was unsealed in 2011. An FBI informant attended a Monkees concert in 1967 and reported “subliminal messages” projecting “left-wing interventions of a political nature.” Footage from the show included protests of the Vietnam War and civil-rights riots in Selma, Alabama.
The Rolling Stone report noted that the failed Freedom of Information Act request may pertain to a logjam of requests surrounding the Covid pandemic and the Jan.

From Joe Exotic to Billy Ray Cyrus and back — JoJo Siwa recently gave some signature mullet-rocking celebrities a run for their money with a new video of her rocking the hairstyle.
The 19-year-old megastar, who first rose to fame during her time on the hit reality series Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition and Dance Moms, has been classified by her blonde locks throughout the duration of her rising career in the entertainment industry.
Through her early years in the limelight, Siwa was always seen sporting a slicked-back, tight side ponytail with her trademarked oversized bow. However, after appearing on Dancing With The Stars in 2021 and seemingly maturing into the next phase of her life, she chopped off the majority of her long, blonde locks earlier this year.

This Emmy season was stuffed with true-crime sagas, largely among the limited/anthology series. With that category’s top prize restricted to just five nominees, four of the series noms went to titles that examined high-profile crimes: Hulu’s Dopesick, The Dropout and Pam & Tommy, plus Netflix’s Inventing Anna.
While fraud is at the center of each of these series, the more traditional “true-crime” shows — with murders driving the narratives — were less popular with TV Academy voters. HBO’s The Staircase, about the infamous case in which crime novelist Michael Peterson’s wife was found dead at the bottom of the stairs in their North Carolina home, earned nods for lead actors Colin Firth and Toni Collette; FX/Hulu’s Under the Banner of Heaven, about the grisly death of a young mother and her child at the hands of Mormon fundamentalists,...

Tonia Haddix is nearly in tears.
It’s been only a few days since officials showed up to the exotic-animal broker’s Missouri home on June 2, after PETA received a tip that Tonka, a Hollywood movie-star chimp in his thirties that Haddix claimed had died in May 2021, was, in fact, alive.
The 52-year-old had blatantly lied to PETA, a judge, and multiple media outlets, saying that Tonka, who starred in George of the Jungle and Buddy alongside Alan Cumming, had died of heart failure. In reality, she had been stashing...

The US House of Representatives has passed the Big Cat Public Safety Act, a first step in establishing a national policy to stop the trade and breeding of endangered lions and tigers as pets in homes and props at roadside zoos.
The bill overwhelmingly passed Friday by a vote of 278 to 134. The measure was introduced by Reps. Mike Quigley, D-Ill., and Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., and actively supported on the floor by Reps. Ed Case, D-Hawaii, and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Raul Grijalva, D-Ariz.
But one of its most prominent supporters was Carole Baskin, founder of Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, Florida, and a prominent part of the television series TIger King, which put the issue of private ownership of tigers and lions on the American radar screen. NBC’s streaming platform, Peacock TV, also featured the bill in its series Joe vs. Carole, released in March.

When Netflix executives scheduled the release of a seven-part docuseries on the wild world of private exotic animal zoos (or, more accurately, the people who run them) to debut on March 20, 2020, little did they know that they were contributing to what would become a cultural phenomenon. Of course, with a title like Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness it was bound to find an audience, but thanks to the start of the Covid-19 pandemic and resulting stay-at-home orders, that audience was massive, bored, scared, and looking for a distraction.

Producers of Netflix’s hit docuseries “Tiger King” have responded to criticism from Carole Baskin, the big-cat activist who is the target of the murder-for-hire plot in Netflix’s “Tiger King.”
Baskin described the docuseries as “salacious and sensational” in an interview with TheWrap last week, and called out directors and co-producers Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin directly. Baskin said she was approached to do a big cat version of “Blackfish” — the 2013 documentary about killer whales captured at sea parks. Instead, she says the series focused on her husband Don’s 1997 disappearance.
In an interview with the L.A. Times, Goode and Chaiklin pushed back on Baskin’s claims, saying her participation “certainly wasn’t coerced.”

Between Don't F**k With Cats and Tiger King, cats are having a major true-crime docuseries moment on Netflix. The latter features the so-called "Mother Teresa of cats" herself, Carole Baskin, who runs the animal sanctuary Big Cat Rescue. It follows her long-time nemesis Joe Exotic (Joseph Maldonado-Passage), a zookeeping personality who was arrested in 2018 for plotting Baskin's murder. So what happened to Baskin after Maldonado-Passage's plans came crashing down? Very much alive, she continues what she's been doing since 1992 - running Big Cat Rescue and saving wild cats.
Who Is Carole Baskin?
According to the Big Cat Rescue website, Baskin is the founder and CEO of the Tampa animal sanctuary, switching from big-cat owner to conservationist in her early career. In its younger days, Baskin's sanctuary was full of breeding and tourism. In 1997, she stopped breeding altogether. She rebranded Big Cat Rescue in 2003 and asked that owners who left...

Joe Exotic is the kind of personality that makes for an irresistible 60-second overview. The new Netflix series “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness” ticks off all those boxes when it introduces him as a central figure. Before delving into the particulars that earn the show that subtitle, the audience gets to see Joe’s distinct bleached mullet, meet his husband, and witness him on the grounds of the private Oklahoma tiger zoo of his dreams. Petting massive wild animals with the loving scratches usually reserved for the necks of tabbies or labradoodles, Joe distinguishes himself from the outset.
Of course, Joe Exotic (nee Schreibvogel) is also a man who necessitates more than just a quick video snippet or morning news segment to really unpack. Fortunately, “Tiger King” fashions enough storytelling real estate to accommodate not just Joe, but “Doc” Antle, a fellow bulk tiger owner/operator of his own park,...

For a documentarian, a larger than life big cat collector who goes by “Joe Exotic” has to both be a total dream and narrative nightmare. As evidenced by the fact that he chose a name for himself that belongs more on a pack of gas station “vitamins” than to a person, the Oklahoman zookeeper is a deliberately larger-than-life figure who’s extremely self-aware about the character he’s building. He is, as he says in a commercial for his failed 2016 presidential campaign (yes), “gay…broke as hell…[and has] a judgment against me from some bitch down in Florida.” Over seven episodes, Netflix’s “Tiger King” digs into all the above, most notably his relationship with the “bitch” in question: Carol Baskin, the animal activist owner of Big Cat Rescue and Joe Exotic’s longtime object of disdain. Though the story begins with their respective love for their animals, “Tiger King” quickly...

The subject of Netflix's new docuseries Tiger King, Joe Exotic, or Joseph Maldonado-Passage, built a colorful zoo empire at the Garold Wayne Exotic Animal Memorial Park, profiting off of animals that he had bred. Even after a $1 million lawsuit and multiple accusations of animal abuse, his legacy didn't come to a crashing halt until he faced two murder-for-hire charges against Carole Baskin, one of his most vocal critics. So where is the infamous Joe Exotic now? Long story short, he's in jail.
First, a little context. Over his career as a zookeeper, Maldonado-Passage developed a collection that exceeded a thousand creatures. Along with his animals, he fostered a larger-than-life personality with his blond mullet and off-color jokes on YouTube. He had many run-ins in the animal-rights community, including a $25,000 fine from the Us Department of Agriculture for...

For years, a man named Joseph Maldonado-Passage ran a roadside zoo in Oklahoma that specialized in exhibiting big cats, particularly tigers. He sold himself as Joe Exotic, the “Tiger King,” and that was just the first of many eccentricities that comprised the mullet-boasting, gun-wielding zookeeper. He was also a polygamist, a country-western singer, a one-time candidate for governor and president, and was accused of instigating a murder-for-hire plot to take out an animal rights activist who had it in for him.

In the upcoming limited series Tiger King, Netflix fuses its popular true-crime and wildlife documentary genres, following the exploits of a colorful zoo owner. The project shines a spotlight on the personality Joe Exotic, aka Joseph Maldonado-Passage, a gay, gun-wielding polygamist who bred big cats and was convicted of hiring people to kill his most outspoken critic.
As wild as this may all sound, it's entirely based on a true story.
Maldonado-Passage was born in rural Kansas as Joseph Schreibvogel. Early in his life, he moved to Texas, where he became a police officer in Eastvale. His younger years were just as turbulent as his later ones. One of his siblings had outed him to his father, who made him shake his hand and promise not to attend his funeral. After a suicide attempt, Maldonado-Passage moved to Florida...
