In February of 1986, an inter-office memo was sent out to Disney employees in Schneider's name announcing the renaming of the studio's most beloved classics. The fake memo originated from animator
Ed Gombert, who was deeply upset over the company's decision to rename "Basil of Baker Street" as
The Great Mouse Detective (1986). Schneider was furious over the memo and attempted to find the author so he could fire him to no avail. A copy of the memo eventually landed in the pages of the LA Times and later became a category called "What's In A Name?" on
Jeopardy! (1984).
