I’ve seen a lot of murder mysteries lately, and let me tell you that nobody’s ever had as much of a multiple personality disorder (of sorts) as the new film Devil: The British Secret Agent. The film is just not sure what kind of murder mystery it is. Is it a historical drama plus a murder mystery, or just a crime drama murder mystery? I say this because filmmakers are spicing things up when it comes to this particular genre. We never get a straightforward plot these days because it would be called out as boring, perhaps. Devil: The British Secret Agent merges anything and everything to keep us guessing who the murderer was. And not just that, there is the angle of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose getting affected by the murders. The film is a period drama, action thriller, mystery, comedy, and romantic drama all rolled into one,...

New Delhi, June 26 (Ians) SoftBank-backed social messaging app called Irl has announced to shut operations, after it found that a massive 95 per cent of its users were “automated or from bots”.
The platform, which suspended its founder and CEO, Abraham Shafi, for alleged misconduct two month ago, had raised $200 million from Japanese investment giant SoftBank’s Vision Fund, Founders Fund and others, reports The Information.
Last year, Shafi claimed that the app had 20 million monthly active users, “who chatted about shared interests and planned real-world events together”.
Now, a spokesperson for the startup said an investigation by the board of directors concluded 95 per cent of those users were fake.
The company would shut down and return capital to shareholders. Irl had reached a $1.2 billion valuation in a $170 million Series C funding round led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2 two years ago.

After the sudden collapse of Silicon Valley Bank last week, it’s perhaps worth noting that with the failure of tech-sector lenders and startups alike, an entire constellation of associated industries suffers as well. The pain trickles down throughout the community, impacting the likes of the Pakistani-American small business owner and his family at the center of Imran J. Khan’s 90s-set feature Mustache.
Although such a scenario might not appear to be entirely amusing, Khan finds the humor in hardship when his 13-year-old Muslim protagonist is forced to readjust his life after his parents make a difficult decision about his education. While not a typical teen comedy, Mustache approaches the genre from a perspective that’s gently humorous and refreshingly clever, even if it’s quite a bit tamer than mainstream fare.

Huge cut-outs of international footballers Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar Jr are erected in every nook and corner of North Kerala including even small towns in Malappuram, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasargod and Wayanad districts. In Central and South Kerala, huge cut-outs of the players are erected but not much as compared to northern part of the state.
Even after certain Islamic scholars, both the Sunni and Mujahid groups, spoke against the frenzy of Muslim youths for the game and supporting foreign nations and foreign players, the latter did not give a hoot.
Sulaiman Khader (27) from Tirur in Malappuram district told Ians: "Football is a sport that unites people, and in Kerala, we unite for a team, support the team and pray for the victory of that team and it’s a healthy exercise. The religious scholars need not interfere in this.
