Former Olympic gold medalist Caitlyn Jenner has been condemned on social media for what she posted in honor of LGBTQ Pride Month.
The weekend, Jenner posted an image of herself on X in which she sat in a car while she wore a red dress.
“Rolling into [Pride] month like…,” she wrote in the post.
Many users in the comments for this post reacted negatively to what she wrote.
“Always wild to see a tree voting for an axe,” the user @FlindyD stated on June 2, alluding to the reality television star’s support for conservatives.
In response to her post, the user @chicodeinfierno asked Jenner what she has “done for the LGBTQ community?”
“It’s horrifying how you support policies that harm the LGBTQ+ community,” the user @SabaSmw declared. “You’re horrifying.”
In late March, Jenner backed the ban on trans athletes during a press conference alongside Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman in Mineola,...

Richard Dreyfuss is gonna need a smaller platform.
The actor attended a “Jaws” retrospective screening at the Cabot theater in Beverly, Massachusetts and participated in a post-screening Q&a. However, Dreyfuss used the platform to make negative comments about the trans community, women (he referred to them as submissive and weak), and the #MeToo movement, according to the Boston Globe.
Dreyfuss walked onstage wearing a dress over his clothes, using a cane, and dancing to Taylor Swift’s “Love Story.” It only got weirder from there.
When referencing teenagers transitioning, Dreyfuss said, “It’s not Ok because when the kid’s 15, she’s going to say, ‘I’m an octopus.'”
IndieWire has reached out to Dreyfuss’ representatives for comment.
The Cabot executive director J. Casey Soward issued a formal apology to patrons for Dreyfuss’ outburst onstage.

In recent years, “Jaws” star Richard Dreyfuss has come under fire for speaking out on subjects such as Oscar diversity requirements and the use of Blackface.
At a “Jaws” retrospective screening in Beverly, Mass. on Saturday evening, he appeared to take his inflammatory remarks even further as he ranted about subjects reported to include trans people, Barbra Streisand, the MeToo movement and women in general. As attendee Diane Wolfe described it to the Boston Globe, “[Dreyfuss] said that the parents of trans youth, allowing them to transition, was bad parenting and that someday those kids might change their minds.”
In a statement, Cabot executive director J. Casey Soward apologized for not anticipating that Dreyfuss might say provocative things on stage.

Artists were first to sue. Then authors hit generative artificial intelligence companies with a volley of lawsuits, followed by publications. As battle lines over the use of AI tools in Hollywood are being drawn, actors may be the next group of creators to open another front in what could be an industry-defining legal battle against AI firms over the use of copyrighted works and personal data to power their human-mimicking chatbots.
On Monday, Scarlett Johansson threatened legal action against OpenAI for allegedly copying and imitating her voice after she refused to license it to the company. According to the actress, OpenAI asked her to be one of the voices called “Sky” for its newest AI system. She declined, though she said that didn’t stop chief executive Sam Altman.

Actors’ Equity Association has voted to authorize a strike against the Broadway League amid negotiations over developmental work.
The strike authorization vote, which was agreed to unanimously by the union’s 83-member national council, does not mean the union will go on strike, but rather that Equity can call a strike if deemed necessary. The union went on a 33-day strike in 2019 over this contract, which pertains to workshops and readings of shows held before potential full productions on Broadway or elsewhere.
At the end of the 2019 strike, which saw stage managers and actors refuse to take part in developmental work, union members who take part in the development of a production gained a share in 1 percent of the show’s profits, once the show goes on to a full production and recoups, as well as a salary increase.

Rtl Group is selling its Dutch business Rtl Nederland for €1.1B ($1.2B) in cash.
Dpg Media, a European operation with bases in Benelux and Denmark, has reached an agreement with Rtl to acquire the business, which comprises a family of free-tv and pay-tv networks and popular streaming service Videoland.
The all-cash transaction is expected to close in mid-2024, subject to regulatory approvals.
Rtl had previously attempted to merge its Dutch assets with John de Mol’s Talpa Network, but this was stopped by regulators on competition grounds. Today’s deals ties into the European giant’s belief that major networks on the continent need to either merge or strategically partner to compete with global streamers.
As such, part of the agreement sees Rtl and Dpg enter into a strategic partnership that spans technology, ad sales and content.

In a statement Tuesday, NBC Entertainment remembered Braugher as an “actor that others in the profession would always aspire to be.”
“In addition to his prowess as a dramatic actor, his comedy chops were also on full display as the determined and passionate Capt. Holt in ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine.’ We will miss him tremendously,” the statement read.

Nick Kyrgios has been incredibly busy fulfilling television obligations of different kinds in the past month and recently spoke to the Athletic in a tell-all interview.
The much-maligned tennis star opened up about the "weird" expectations Australians place on their athletes. He has admitted he doesn't want to fall into this trap by pursuing a regular commentary gig while he is still an active tennis player.
The 28-year-old worked as an analyst at this year's Atp Finals for Tennis Channel, which was telecasted in the United States. He received enormous praise for his insightful analysis and opinions from fans and the broadcaster's Chief Executive, who labeled him a "total pro."
"Total pro. On time. Actually, early. Well dressed. Did his homework, and gave insights that you can only get from a player at that level who knew the competition in a way few others do."

The entertainment world was recently dealt a heartbreaking blow with beloved actor Andre Braugher passing away unexpectedly at the age of 61. Braugher was best known for his roles on shows like "Homicide: Life on the Street" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine." Before the actor's passing, he had been working on a new TV show for Netflix called "The Residence." It will now serve as the actor's final project. Much remains in flux, but we know quite a bit about the show already.
The eight-episode series hails from Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers, with Paul William Davies on board as the writer and showrunner. It is based on Kate Andersen Brower's book "The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House," but interestingly, it's said that the show will only use the book as a jumping-off point, so it won't be an outright adaptation. According to a February report from Deadline,...

Iconic, multi-Oscar-winning film “La La Land” is headed back to mainland Chinese cinemas in sessions that dance off on Dec. 22.
The worldwide release is overseen by Lionsgate release, while the China re-release is to be piloted by local distributor Jl Film.
The film was directed by Damien Chazelle and stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. It holds the box office record for movie musicals with global box office of $470 million and earned $35 million of that in China.
For some Chinese audiences, re-releasing the film on its seventh anniversary has superstitious significance because seven years symbolizes sticking together for a lifetime.
Jl Film is a fast-growing foreign film investment company. Earlier this year, the distributor handled “The Expendables 4” in China.

Hollywood dealmaking is becoming more reliant on the international market. That’s the word from production execs from Universal International Studios, Fremantle, Anonymous Content and Studiocanal talking on an Asia TV Forum & Market panel in Singapore today.
The execs discussed dealmaking and how the expansion of streamers into international markets have impacted local ecosystems in regions such as Asia-Pacific.
“I’m really interested in companies that are coming up prominently in the region and sometimes partnering them up with our labels across the world,” said Mandy Chang, Head of Global Documentaries at Fremantle. “I’ve been involved in a lot of Asian co-productions but actually I’m looking to work with bigger companies rather than individual producers and directors.”
She added that the ability to port talent overseas to fulfil demand could help productions gain access to greater range of funding and fill content gaps in different markets.

The newest surprise at Fox’s “Masked Singer” isn’t tied to an appearance by a mysterious celebrity.
On Wednesday night, the popular reality-competition program will bring an advertiser into its format for the first time since launching in 2019. Some TV observers might be astonished to learn that the series is accommodating an advertiser at all. Unlike predecessors such as “The Voice” and “American Idol,” “Singer” has never indulged in on-screen product placements from sponsors such as Coca-Cola, Ford or Starbucks.

Speaking with Wall Street analysts on Thursday, Paramount executives confirmed the coming months would see a price hike for Paramount+ users.
Last quarter was a good one for Paramount+. On the heels of a price increase that saw its ad-free tier rise in cost to $11.99 per month and its ad-supported plan jump to $5.99 when Paramount+ integrated Showtime in June, the service gained 2.7 million new subscribers in the third quarter.
Paramount executives confirmed again on Thursday that they saw room to raise Paramount+ prices further. The company’s last price increase led to fewer cancelations than forecast. Rules against password sharing are not expected in the near future, however, as the company does not see sharing users as a meaningful profit drain. Save $20 Now $5.99+ / month paramountplus.com

Updated with SAG-AFTRA statement: SAG-AFTRA and Hollywood’s major studios had a second consecutive day of constructive steps toward a settlement to what will go down as a TV and film strike of record duration for the union.
SAG-AFTRA told its members late Wednesday that the union presented a counterproposal on AI issues that have been a key sticking point in the contract talks that preceded the work stoppage that began July 14. It also said the union is awaiting the full response from the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers on the “comprehensive counter proposal” the union presented on Oct. 28.
“The Negotiating Committee met today to discuss and finalize our response to the AMPTP AI counter-proposal which we received yesterday,” SAG-AFTRA’s negotiating committee wrote in its message to members. “The negotiators then met with AMPTP representatives for more than three hours this afternoon and evening to present and review our revised proposal.

Annette Bening had a defiant message for foes of LGBTQ rights and equality in the United States, specifically political leaders who are targeting the trans community. “You do not want to make this momma mad,” said the four-time Oscar nominee as she received Advocate Award on Oct. 28 from Glsen’s Rise Up LA benefit, which raised funds for the group’s programs supporting queer grade-school students across the country.
Bening — who is the mother of a trans son, writer Stephen Ira, as well as three other children — spoke at the event about why she has become increasingly vocal in advocating for the trans community in recent years.
“Most of my career, I’ve been a pretty private person … but over the last several years, I’ve changed my mind,” said Bening, explaining, “I have felt the responsibility to speak out and to speak up as transphobia has invaded our government at the local,...
