Heard of those notorious one-euro homes in the Italian countryside? Sounds like a great deal, right? Scott Foley isn’t so sure.
In the new romantic comedy La Dolce Villa, the Scandal star heads to Italy to stop his daughter from frittering away her entire bank account on restoring one of those villas. Of course, that’s only the beginning of his trip. By the end of it, he may have a few different ideas — about life, love, and even a decaying old villa.
Directed by Mark Waters and written by Elizabeth Hackett and Hilary Galanoy, La Dolce Villa is the kind of Italian vacation that you can take without leaving your couch.

There’s no doubt director Stuart McDonald’s “A Perfect Pairing” pairs perfectly with a nice bottle of wine on a lonely night at home. Providing a respite from our hectic reality, this romantic comedy centered on an assured woman who finds love and purpose in the land down under offers delightful entertainment while playing to our most wholesome sensibilities. Charming, cute and fairly satisfying, it follows the formula for Netflix branded content that’s typically reserved for their holiday films, going down smoothly and pleasing the palate.
Lola Alvarez (Victoria Justice) puts her clients’ happiness before her own. Though she loves her job as sales director at a wine distribution company, she despises her cruel, condescending boss Calder (Craig Horner). Her love life’s been on pause after a divorce a few years prior, and she hasn’t felt the need to press play since, using her busy work schedule as an excuse.

There’s little false advertising to “Love, Guaranteed,” a romantic comedy about true love and the seemingly overblown promises of online dating. The shared fate of Susan Whitaker and Nick Evans — played by Rachel Leigh Cook and Damon Wayans Jr. — is all but assured by director Mark Steven Johnson’s pretty much by-the-numbers take. The question isn’t “Will they wind up together?” It’s more of a “how they will wind up together” proposition. Even with some nicely understated moments from the leads, the Netflix film is decidedly slight, easy-on-the-noggin entertainment.
Susan Whitaker has her own shingle as an attorney. Nick is a physical therapist at a rehab center. How others feel about each of them — her employees, his patients — attests to the fact they are decent people. When Nick first seeks out Susan’s services for a lawsuit, she has her doubts. Still, her penchant for turning paying...

MGM is all shook up over Elizabeth Hackett and Hilary Galanoy's script Shake It. The studio picked up the spec for an undisclosed sum, with Zide/Perry Entertainment on board to produce. The project, which is being tightly guarded, is described as a female-driven fish-out-of-water comedy. At the studio, the project is being shepherded by executive vp production Elizabeth Ingold and director of creative affairs Stephanie Palmer. Zide/Perry toppers Warren Zide and Craig Perry will produce. Hackett and Galanoy, both former film executives, have teamed for the home-for-the-holidays comedy You're Not the Boss of Me, set up at Paramount Pictures. Galanoy most recently was vp development at Morgan Creek Prods., while Hackett worked at Patchwork Entertainment before segueing to a career as a free-lance journalist. Both are repped by Zide/Perry Entertainment's Jennie Frankel and the law firm Colden, McKuin & Frankel.
