When we surveyed our readers about Vin Diesel's best role in 2023, the results were rather illuminating. The actor's "Fast & Furious" counterpart, Dominic Toretto, came in shockingly low, lagging well behind The Iron Giant and Groot. That's right, a giant robot with a limited vocabulary and a sentient tree that only repeats the same sentence over and over were considered better roles for him than the Fast Fam's supposedly beloved patriarch. The number one spot went to Riddick B. Riddick, a morally flexible antihero who would just as soon leave his pals for dead than stick his neck out for them.
Why do these characters fit Diesel so well? Well, if I may be so bold, I would say it's because they all have one thing in common: They don't require him to be remotely sexy.
Now, it's worth clarifying that when I say Diesel isn't "sexy," I'm in no way trashing his appearance.

Last week, producer and director Sam Wineman filed a lawsuit against Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller and AMC Networks including accusations of sexual assault, creating a hostile work environment and retaliation on the docuseries Queer For Fear.
Wineman was a producer and director for Shudder’s four-part series Queer For Fear: The History Of Queer Horror.
Wineman accused Fuller, an executive on the series, of sexual assault and asserted that AMC executives had ignored his allegations and instead punished him when he voiced his discomfort.
In a filing with the L.A. Superior Court, Wineman made specific accusations that Fuller was abusive to Wineman while he worked on the 2022 docuseries. He also claimed that his termination from the series in August 2021 was in response to the comments he made to higher-ups about Fuller’s “unlawful behavior and comments.”
Wineman’s filing reads, “Defendant Bryan Fuller cultivated and maintained a hostile work...

Exclusive: Alyssa Milano (Brazen), Virginia Madsen (Sideways), Gina Torres (9-1-1: Lone Star) and Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us) have signed on for roles in the feature-length anthology Give Me an A, which links together 15 short films, in response to the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade.
The film currently in post-production will have been completed within two months from the date of Roe’s overturning — which eliminated the longstanding constitutional right to abortion — in an effort to ensure this is a response and not a delayed reaction. The creators, cast and crew have made a significant effort to expedite the process in order to start a conversation with audiences about the importance of bodily autonomy and address the dysfunction of a democracy that is not protecting the needs of a majority of the population. The news that Kristen Stewart would be portraying Princess Diana raised a few eyebrows initially. Now, the first trailer for “Spencer” has the K-Stew fans feeling vindicated and the skeptics minding their tea and crumpets.
Neon dropped the first official look at “Spencer” on Thursday, which showcases an almost wordless yet nonetheless compelling peek into Stewart’s performance as the beloved royal.
“Spencer,” which was Diana’s maiden name before she wed the British royal, will center on the weekend in which Princess Di decided to leave her marriage to Prince Charles during Christmas 1991.
She was always Diana Spencer.
Spencer, a fable starring Kristen Stewart.
Directed by Pablo Larraín.

There’s something strange in the neighborhood — specifically, if you ask many fans of the 80s comedy classic “Ghostbusters,” the lack of humor in the new “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” trailer. Some are ripping the reboot’s relatively serious tone as “bizarre” while others are questioning why a film in which “that’s a big twinkie” is uttered is held in such high regard in the first place.
“Ghostbusters: Afterlife” came back to haunt us Tuesday, dropping a new trailer featuring more insight into the movie’s plot, hints at some of its nostalgic cameos and an unexpectedly reverent attitude toward its silly, sarcastic source material. Because, as previously mentioned, the original “Ghostbusters” is generally perceived as a comedy — but the trailers for “Afterlife” have so far made this sequel seem more like a drama.
The film was directed by Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman, who directed the original 1984 flick starring Bill Murray,...

When Birds of Prey landed with a thud at the box office in February, forcing Warner Bros. to almost immediately change the title for marketing purposes in the hopes that Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn would be enough to draw in audiences who weren’t entirely sure what the movie was supposed to be, it looked like a total washout for both the studio and the Dceu.
A global haul of $201 million made it the lowest-earning installment in the shared superhero universe by quite some distance, but one small positive is that it was half as expensive to produce as the majority of comic book blockbusters, so Birds of Prey still managed to turn a profit theatrically, before strong digital and VOD sales kept it firmly in the black.
However, little did we know that the Coronavirus pandemic would change the world as we knew it, reducing the release schedule to a barren wasteland,...

The next installment in the Scream franchise isn’t set to hit theaters until January 2022, but filming has already wrapped despite a couple of setbacks related to the Coronavirus pandemic, meaning that new directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have plenty of time in post-production to ensure that the fifth entry lives up to the legacy established by creator and horror legend Wes Craven, who passed away in 2015.
Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette are back to fill the quota of seasoned players that have seen and done it all before, while fresh faces include Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Dylan Minnette and Kyle Gallner. This next outing in the slasher franchise comes eleven years after the fourth installment, and based on how the sequels have been numbered so far, everyone was expecting it to be called Scream 5, which would make sense.
However, continuing the bizarre trend...
