Resident Evil films, as we know them, could’ve been different only if the late George A. Romero had entered the arena. He was an American-Canadian director known for the Night of the Living Dead series, which was also a major contributor to shaping the presentation of zombies as we see them today. Little did many know that he was this close to directing the first Re movie.
The first film in the action-horror series arrived in 2002, starring Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Joseph May, and more. Though the movie was a commercial success, generating $103 million in revenue against a $33 million budget, it wasn’t received well by the fans and critics. What’s more, it landed on the most hated list of renowned Chicago Sun-Times journalist Roger Ebert.

"He would not sell his soul, just to get a film done." Key 13 Films has revealed an official trailer for a horror documentary film called George A. Romero's Resident Evil, arriving sometime in early 2024. Made by filmmaker Brandon Salisbury, this doc is in the same vein as Jodorowsky's Dune (one of my favorites), examining a long lost movie project that was never made. A documentary that brings to light the vision that iconic zombie director George A. Romero had for an adaptation of Resident Evil, using newly filmed interviews with those who were there, and unravels the secrets behind why it was never produced. At the end of the 1990s, they tried to make a Re movie, with Romero considered to direct it – but as we all know, eventually Paul W.S. Anderson made the first Re movie in 2002. Now, audiences everywhere will experience the "darkest day of horror...

Before the Resident Evil franchise ended up in the hands of Paul W.S. Anderson, the filmmaker who was developing a cinematic adaptation of the zombie video game series was the one who first brought us the concept of flesh-eating zombies: Night of the Living Dead (and Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead) director George A. Romero. For decades, fans have been pondering what it would have been like if Romero had been able to bring his vision of Resident Evil to the screen – and that’s the subject of the upcoming documentary George A. Romero’s Resident Evil. The documentary is expected to be released sometime in 2024, and a trailer for it can be seen in the embed above.

We had the teaser for the upcoming documentary on George A. Romero‘s failed Resident Evil project way back in March. And now, thanks to the fine people at Residence of Evil, we now have the full trailer for director Brandon Salisbury‘s George A. Romero’s Resident Evil, which is slated for a 2024 release.
Produced by Key 13 Films in association with Point Five Films and written by Salisbury and Robbie McGregor, the documentary provides a look back at what went down with Romero’s script for Resident Evil and Constantin Films back in 1998. George A. Romero’s Resident Evil is a stylized documentary, utilizing archived footage, unearthed documents, and newly filmed interviews with a wide variety of personalities.
Much like the teaser before it, the trailer does delve into fan service with clips of the first game, Romero’s Night of the Living Dead, recreations of the S.

Those of you waiting on an update on director Brandon Salisbury‘s upcoming George A. Romero’s Resident Evil documentary since it was announced way back in September are in for a treat. Courtesy of the folks over at Residence of Evil, the documentary on the “What if?” of George Romero’s Resident Evil film now has a teaser trailer, and aims to “immerse the audience in a cinematic horror aesthetic.”
Salisbury stated that he wanted to pay homage to Romero’s style and the game itself with the documentary, which is listed as “Coming Soon”. As a result, the documentary takes place in a mansion that echoes the look of Resident Evil‘s Spencer Mansion, and is shot to mimic Romero’s style.
Mixed with clips from Romero’s classic Night of the Living Dead and Capcom’s Survival Horror classic, the teaser also features voice clips from newly-filmed...

A convention called Creature Feature Weekend was held in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania at the end of last month, and during that event it was announced that director Brandon Salisbury is teaming up with Jason Bareford, who worked as George A. Romero‘s personal assistant, to bring us George A. Romero’s Resident Evil, a documentary that will dig into the version of Resident Evil that was going to be written and directed by Romero. The folks at Dawn of the Discs were even able to get their hands on a couple teaser images from the documentary:

Much has been made about George Romero‘s legendary Japanese commercial for Resident Evil 2, but at least that was filmed. George Romero’s Resident Evil film, however, is a different story. We talked about this ultimate “What if?” a few years ago, and now thanks to Jason Bareford (George’s Production Assistant) and director Brandon Salisbury, we’ll finally be getting George A. Romero’s Resident Evil, a long-overdue documentary on the film that could’ve been.
